"Fantastic Alila Ubud!"
We had the pleasure of staying one week at the Alila near Ubud. It was our 5th trip to Bali and this hotel is by far the most beautiful one we have stayed in. The surroundings are stunning with magnificent views over the valley. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, the food at the restaurant (certainly breakfast) is good, though they tend to prepare everything in a rather blend taste (please Chef, use the spices you have also for the Western tourists). The swimming pool is absolutely beautiful. We stayed at 3 different rooms, all very luxe: the Deluxe room with outdoor bathroom and little balcony, the Pool Villa and our absolute favourite the Valley Villa - if we return to Alila it will be for the Valley Villa!
"Honeymoon in a jungle paradise"
We stayed in Alila Ubud for the first week of our honeymoon and after a very long flight, we were astonished by the sheer beauty of the resort. When it says it's in the jungle, it really is - every day we had monkeys gathering outside our room and during the afternoon tea they come right up to the pool side and try to steal your cakes! The infinity pool is incredibly relaxing, as we were there in October it was slightly quieter than peak months but the sun beds were still very busy and you couldn't always get one. Very disappointing when you've paid so money to stay in the resort. The breakfast is amazing, so many fresh fruits, breads and authentic Indonesian cooked dishes and the dinners were also very tasty! We went to the traditional spice market night as well as the balianese dance evening, both of which were great to get a taste of the culture. Wine is expensive so we stuck to Bintang beer, in general food and drink is much cheaper in Ubud and it's good to get out of the resort to explore. Customer service was impeccable, you're made to feel incredibly welcome by everyone. We also had traditional massages and facials in the spa which were very expensive but very relaxing. Ubud is about 15 minutes in a taxi from the resort, it's easy to find a taxi home at night and during the day the hotel provides an occasional shuttle bus.
"A Start to the Honeymoon..."
I stayed at the Alila for six nights at the start of my honeymoon. We were met at reception after a long flight with a delicious refreshing drink and a warm welcome, before being shown to our Valley Villa. This is a truly beautiful room - with a balcony around three sides, a bathtub submerged in a pond and an enormous bathroom. We loved having a family of monkeys visit our balcony on several occasions to shelter from the rain, and in general enjoyed the noises of the jungle. Take note however that the outdoor bathtub does attract frogs - and they can be noisy at 3am! Housekeeping were wonderful with this however - with two men coming out late at night to catch 8 frogs and return them to the jungle. On our first night we attended the Spice Market dinner - expensive but still a lovely welcome, we really enjoyed trying the range of different foods available. We enjoyed a couple of dinners at the Alila, which were good, but the real highlight was the 'tasting menu' breakfast - absolutely delicious! The staff were a definite highlight, from those on reception to the man who took us on our rice paddy walk - all excellent. There were a couple of negatives, although not enough to reduce the star rating. As previous reviewers have mentioned sun beds really were at a premium. I'm a fan of a leisurely breakfast (as are many people I think when the see the breakfast fare on offer at the Alila!) so I'm not one for getting up at the crack of dawn to bag myself a sunbed. In reality though it was often tricky to get a spot by the pool in the morning, which I didn't really want on my honeymoon. The prices are rather steep also - I can recommend travelling into Ubud for dinner, or eating in the bar which is a little more affordable. The price of alcoholic drinks is also high, although there is a fantastic range of non alcoholic beverages using local fruits, spices and syrups. All in all, I would definitely recommend a stay at the Alila. If the budget stretches, you certainly won't regret a valley villa - absolutely spectacular.
"The Best of our Honey Moon place in Bali"
Alila Ubud if we hear about the name, make us returning our mind to Bali . Last week we spent 4 days in Alila Ubud which is perfect moment of our honey moon. Settup pools on tropical forest side and the services of the staff is very friendly and profesional managed everytime we ask something.
"Quiet and Peaceful Oasis"
Nice resort outside of Ubud located in the jungle next to a river overlooking a small valley. The pool is amazing, very large with a beautiful view. My favorite spot are the small terraces with sun chairs after the pool area. Superior rooms are quite small but well equipped and with nice amenities. Food is delicious and staff very friendly and helpful.
