"Great family holiday accomodation"

   21-04-2017
My husband and two children (10 & 12) stayed here for four nights on our way from Hanoi to Saigon. It was a great resort and very comfortable for us all. We really enjoyed the pool area and the private beach for swimming. The buffet breakfast was fantastic with lots of great choices that would satisfy a range of appetites. We generally caught a taxi into Hoi an which is relatively cheap and reliable. Tip for families - the local restaurants/shops, five to ten minutes walk away, provide daily laundry service which is cheaper than Motel and just as good!! We would be happy to return to this resort.

"Family Honeymoon"

   20-04-2017
I stayed at the Victoria Hoi An Beach Resort with my wife and 18 month old son last week and we had a great stay! It was our honeymoon so we booked a Junior Suite which look right over the water, they were very comfortable and the outdoor shower was amazing. There are two Junior Suite room configurations, the colonial and the Japanese style. The Japanese syle has a small dressing room or sitting room off the main bedroom, which was perfect for a our babies cot and mean't we had some privacy in the main bedroom. ' Unfortunately we didn't get the Japanese style when we first arrived however after some encouragement / persistence on our behalf, the staff managed to find a way to juggle the room allocations and move us. The pool was great, breakfast good and staff overall very lovely. The kids club is a little tucked away, but it was comfortable and the staff were great. One of the staff also helped baby sit out son one of the evening while we attended a friends wedding.

"Great stay with young children, kids room needs updating"

   19-04-2017
We stayed 5 nights - this is a great property for kiddies. The kids pool is nice and the steps in to the big pool were great for small kids. the staff were friendly and very helpful. The food was great - inc room service (although we didn't like the inflated cost!) The buffets were good - it was lovely to let the kiddies run around and watch the entertainment while you sat and ate and watched them. I would say that the little water ways are not great for toddlers but were fine for my 3 year old - they provided hours of entertainment as she wanted to feed the fish and watch the frogs swim around - they did look pretty too. The beach is nice and it is not a problem that it is set aside from the resort - the sea is quite rough though so wouldn't suggest swimming in there with young children. Our biggest issue was the kids room - it is very outdated and not a good range of toys to play with. The staff were lovely and had activities for the kids to do - colouring and making things etc but the basic room wasn't great. Im sure the floor was clean but didn't look it as was old and faded and the skirting boards were very bashed up. The toys were not that appealing and I think for a little money they could make a big difference to the room - that said, my child didn't complain! The location is great - away from da nang and the big resorts and just a short taxi into hoi an but v tranquil so you can escape the crazy hoi an setting. Overall the staff were great and we enjoyed our stay and would go back.

"Good Buffet"

   18-04-2017

"Bad Customer Service"

   17-04-2017
Rooms Mediocre at best. Room decor is traditional but bathrooms are just dated. For the price we paid, we expected more from a 4 star boutique hotel in this location. Nothing about the rooms had any wow factor (We had 6 rooms booked in total between the family). Pool Perhaps the only decent feature of the hotel. Breakfast Almost the same everyday. The only change to the daily breakfast spread was between Banana Pancakes, Waffles, French Toast, Plain Pancakes. On our 4th morning, the plain pancakes were undercooked. Myself and another guest tried to tell the chef who didn't seem to understand. The fruit selection was decent but there were flies flying around them everyday. Wedding Event Planning My brother had actually been planning his wedding event at the Victoria. He pulled out a couple of months before the wedding due to the bad communication from the hotel. Unfortunately for a large part of wedding guests, we had already booked and confirmed our non cancelable rooms. Check Out The rooms were all paid around 5 months in advance. When we checked out we were asked to pay. When we pointed out that it had already been paid for, the staff rummaged around with paper work before they unapologetically confirmed that it had been paid for. Shuttle Service Incident One Our worst experience was with the Shuttle Service. Guests are required to put passenger numbers down with reception in advance. We did this on Tuesday 11 April 2017 morning. We rode the bus from the hotel to Hoi An Town on the 9.30am bus with no problems. We had booked our return for 11.30am. On arrival at the shuttle pickup point, we saw that the bus was driving off. Some other guests on the bus recognized us as we rode together in the morning and waved the driver to stop. We ran up to the bus and were told by both the driver and the guests that another bus was coming to pick us up (there were not enough seats left for the 8 of us anyway). After 30mins wait, we began to worry because the ride is only around 15mins so if a car was already on it's way, it would have got here by now. Or if the same car was coming back for us it would also have made it back by now. The group of us then made our way to a local shop opposite the pickup point to catch shade (12 noon under 32 plus celsius and mosquitoes was making it difficult to stay put). We then called my sister who was at the hotel and she made her way to the concierge desk to as what was happening. She was told that the second bus had broken down and a car was/ is on it's way. Since we saw no signs of available taxis passing by we decided to carry on waiting. Another 30mins passed and at 12.30pm a driver waved us over a random van with no hotel signage saying he had been waiting for us for 10mins. When we got back to the hotel, the front desk staff were neither apologetic nor understanding of what had happened. They just kept saying that we were not at the pickup point. We asked to speak to the manager who wasn't available so I asked that they called me in my room (I stayed in my room for the remainder of the day from 12.45pm) but no one came or called. Incident Two On Thursday 13th April 2017, 13 of us rode the shuttle bus to Hoi An Town and we left our room number and booking for 13 people to get the return bus at 9.30pm. We really did not anticipate to have the same issue as before. At 9.15pm our entire group were waiting at the pickup point. Another smaller group of hotel guests were also already there, we confirmed with them if they were also waiting for the Victoria bus and then queued behind them. At 9.20pm a bus arrived, guests clambered on and then we realized people dotted around the parking lot also started climbing on too. The driver assured us that another bus was on it’s way so we decided to let the other people push their way through. At this point only 3 other people and out group of 13 were left. When the second bus arrived, people literally ran at the bus before it even stopped!! We were in shock because we didn’t think we would have to ‘fight’ for a seat. Some guests who had just appeared hanged to climb in the bus which then left only enough seats for half our group. We were literally in shock at how quickly it all happened and how aggressive everyone was being. We had 2 elders and 3 young children with us but unfortunately other guests didn't care. In the end, the remaining 6 from our group had to walk to the main road to flag a taxi which the driver said the hotel would pay for. Honestly, the cost of the taxi ride is not huge but that is really beside the point. Customer Service/ Complaints Handling (Lack of) On arrival back at the hotel (10-10.30pm on Thursday 13th April) we asked again to speak to the manager. We were told that he was having dinner. We then said we would wait. 5-10mins later we were told that the manager had gone home to Danang. We asked if they had a duty manager on site that we could speak to and were told that the manager is also the duty manager…. Confused as we were, the front desk staff who was speaking to us was not helpful in the slightest. She kept saying ‘I am just staff’. When asked when the manager would be available she said around 8am the next morning. We asked if we could make an appointment with him or if he could call us in our room. Her reply was, ‘No, you will have to come to the lobby to wait for him’. The next morning we went to initiate a meeting with the manager ‘Claude’. 2mins into the conversation we knew we were already talking to a brick wall. Claude said that in his 20 years at the hotel/ Vietnam (not sure which) he has never had a complaint??!?! That is a pretty amazing track record for a hotel. Surprised it hasn’t been awarded 6 stars already. We tried hard to ask him to reconsider the way that they hotel run the shuttle service but his response was, ‘But it’s a free service’. You could say that our conversation was being lost in translation to some extent with the local staff and also with Claude who doesn’t speak native English. Conclusion We will definitely never be back there again. For the room rate, you could pay a little more and stay in one of the more luxury chain hotels in Danang or get a private villa. FYI - We are all frequent traveller and this is the first bad review I have ever felt the need to write.
