"Very nice stay with a few improvements possible"
We received a warm greeting at reception and were told we had been upgraded; always a pleasant surprise! Rather bizarrely, despite having paid in full for the stay upfront, we were asked for a 2m VND deposit which they actively take and refund after checkout. This felt rather parsimonious and pedantic; a feeling that was replicated a number of times throughout our short stay. For example, we had to pay a 200,000 VND deposit for a hole-ridden and filthy umbrella and the spa appeared overly concerned with the location of their towels. After an expensive treatment my wife and I tried to shower but were literally left cold when the only shower at the spa delivered nothing but cold water. We decided to walk back to our room to have a warm shower using the towel and robe provided (it was cold and raining). The spa was 50 feet from our room and the staff came running after us exclaiming that we could not take the towels and robes. We explained the shower situation and they relented, insisting we hang the robes outside our door immediately for them to collect. The next morning we had another treatment and we were asked about the towels we so ruthlessly took from the spa and asked us to bring them back to the spa. House cleaning had been by that point and collected all the towels so we could not return them - not sure why this was such an issue, perhaps they should focus more on fixing the issues at the spa (cold shower, cold jacuzzi, run down sauna) rather than the whereabouts of their towels and knackered old umbrellas. All that said, the room we were given was absolutely stunning with a private pool and terrace; just a shame the weather was so bad we could not enjoy them. The room (which was more like a villa) was spotlessly clean and nicely appointed. The only disappointment was the mattress which felt gristly, old and cheap. The staff were in the main, very helpful and friendly and the food and drinks at the restaurant were very good, albeit (unsurprisingly) very expensive compared with more local spots in Hue. Breakfast was excellent with a very good selection of local and European foods. In all, a pleasant stay and, with a few small but important improvements, could be amazing.
We were upgraded to a bungalow. The room was very spacious and the bed comfortable but the bathroom was absolutely stunning with our own private outdoor shower. The spa was good and so was the restaurant. Pool was too cold to swim for us but looked fantastic. We only stayed one night but would have loved to stay longer. The staff were welcoming and lovely. Highly recommend.
"Best Hotel in Vietnam !"
This hotel is a hidden gem. The bungalow rooms are fabulous with the biggest bathrooms ever! It’s got 2 swimming pools, one with a delightful swim up bar. The food is delicious both for breakfast and dinner. The gym is well equipped and the yoga classes looked good. I would recommend this hotel and a visit to Hue which is a stunning city in central Vietnam.
"Really lovely lush hotel"
This hotel is about 20 mins out of Hue, but beautiful green rural setting surrounded by trees and vegetation. The open common parts are lovely and the main pool is amazing. The room and bathroom we had were huge, as was the resort - a nice walk to reception, breakfast, the pool. There are loads of staff everywhere to help you and the very helpful Japanese operations manager just kept popping up everywhere! She was great. It takes about 15 mins to get into a town by cab, but great hotel in a lovely quiet and rural location.
"Be very careful"
This hotel requires a 1 million dong deposit per night for additional expenses (minibar, massage etc.), which you must pay up front on check in for your entire stay. This really adds up when you have a long stay. We were told that it would be automatically refunded to us on departure. We are still chasing the money, and when I called up this morning I was told that it would take up to FOUR WEEKS for the money to be refunded to my card. So now we have limited money to enjoy the rest of our holiday. Suggest you try to pay the deposit in cash so that you can have it back immediately on departure.
