We spent 2 nights caravanning here.Camp sites had lots of trees and really excellent ablutions which were kept very clean. There is a lovely pool at the lodge and a nice shop.Staff were friendly and helpful.Took a tour to the salt pans which were full of water after the heavy rains.Roads are not good after all the rain but motorists drove carefully.
"Gem just off dusty riad"
We camped for the night. Loads of spots. New facilities. Reasonably priced. Good internet (by Botswana) standards. Friendly staff. Our waiter, Cecelia, was lovely. Safe and secure site for our camping truck. Chop pies grocery store down the road for re-provisioning.
"Staff did nothing about inconsiderate "campers""
Campground was big. Unallocated. One has to find the best spot on a first come first served basis. Lots of trees and shade. Toilets were very spacious and clean. Good plus. Dinner was ok in the restaurant. We joined the pan tour in the evening through the birds sanctuary for the sunset. It was ok, but water levels were too high for any spectacular view or birds. So far so good... until we heard non-stop blasting music, laughing, repeated loud opening and closing of sliding doors at 5:20am. We eventually got up and see what the heck was all that noise. It was 2 mini-vans, with loud Afrikaaners being v rowdy (not sure why they appear like drunk so early?), filling up water and using the bathroom. It looked as if they were preparing to leave. They were not on the site in the night even at 10pm before we slept, nor did they have tents or roof-top tents that came with them. They had zero consideration for the many campers. We reported this to the security guard at the reception (as there was no reception staff then). The guard said they are campers, and said if we have a complian, he can give us a form. As we spoke, the two vans came roaring out of the campsite and we pointed them to the guard. He did absolutely nothing. At around 8am we went to the reception and told the lady. We even told her one of the Gauteng number plates we wrote down - to blacklist them if they returned for the day, or in the future. She again did nothing to write down or make note. She claimed she will tell the manager about it. Unresponsive and irresponsible staff ruined our otherwise pleasant stay at Nata Lodge.
"Camping here - was exciting."
We had just one night camping here and it felt as if we were hundreds of miles from anywhere. Very basic but the ablutions block was quite sophisticated and very clean and so we had a little luxury too! The whole area was clean and felt safe. We only had one coffee in the bar area and it was pleasant and staff were friendly. Very nice place and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!
"Botswana's at its best!"
Nata Lodge is the BEST place to stay when traveling in the area. Value for money and managed by excellent staff, catering for travelers every need. A well stocked curio shop. Well prepared, tasty meals. And most importantly, clean, immaculate rooms.
