"Love this resort - Especially the Monkeys - 3rd stay!"

   30-11-2016
In my view, if you lose the monkeys/wildlife, then you'll lose the character of the resort and wildlife along with some customers! Our 4th time to Kenya! Love this place - returned for the 3rd time to the Baobab and stayed in the Kole kole part again. This followed 10 days safari in Samburu, Lake Nakura and the Masai Mara, in October 2016. Stayed for one full week, the food is superb and a great choice, and we were upgraded to a Deluxe room which we appreciated! The gardens, friendy helpful staff and the beach and especially the monkeys made us decide to return. Most will have or will be doing a safari to see the animals, so when you come to this place and the monkeys are running around, it ads to the safari-like entertainment. There are four types of monkeys here, the very gentle Black and White Colobus, Sykes Monkey, Vervet Monkey and yes Yellow Baboons! Thre are also Bushbabys in the thatched roofs which will come down to take a banana etc. What I would say is Ive always loved seeing the monkeys run and chase around the lodge, but found this time that over-keen security staff are over anxious to scare the monkeys away, not just from the food areas, which I know they must, but from the outer areas of the resort, as if its a bit of agame, and even when they're up the trees and in the gardens doing what monkeys do! So please Baobab, tell your staff who I know do a great job, to leave the monkeys alone if they are up a tree or in the gardens! If the monkeys go I will not be back thats for sure. I know they're not everyones cup of PG Tips but most people that I met there, loved seeing them and some of the antics they get up to. Not sure why anyone goes to this resort of they dont like monkeys or are frighted of the wildlfe! Great resort though and thanks again for a great stay. We love Kenya and Africa, its in our blood now! Since I was here last time in 2012, they have a new nature walk in the bush areas of the grounds which is pretty rubbish and the waterhole is just a very small black hole of dark water hidden in the undergrowth....this needs improving somewhat to make it a real attraction to the place! The entertainment about 9pm every night is still as good and the staff there work extremely hard to give a different show every evening! Also, Beach is fantastic with the corel reefs, take an old wooden catararan to the sand-bank its fantastic to see the sand appear under your feet!! Also best to take a walk along the beach with small money and stop in another lodge/ hotel for a drink on the way. The beachboys can be a pain but if your friendy but firm with them I found they will more or less leave you alone. Im sure we will be back some day as long as this excellent resort keeps the wildlife and monkeys around.

"PATHETIC SERVICE!!"

   29-11-2016
i have stayed at baobab 3 times and on my second stay, my then boyfriend proposed. we agreed to have our wedding there and even told the manager. the whole planning experience with was a nightmare!! whenever we would go over to discuss our plans with them, they would keep us waiting at the reception for more than 30min. whenever i sent them an email, i would only get a response after calling them & being put on hold for not less than 10min, and with every email, they would increase the charges of everything. i have never in my well traveled life felt so unwanted in a hotel . and to make matters worse, they felt no remorse for what they did. i would advise anyone who wants to have their wedding there, to look elsewhere otherwise they would be disappointed. i am having my wedding at a different hotel..

"Mini Pre-Christmas Vacay"

   29-11-2016
We stayed at the Maridadi -one of the three hotels within the property. Good value for money seeing as we were a party of 9...3 kids, 1 infant and 5 adults. Food was good though the chips some days tasted like reheated gunk.. wait staff are not the most motivated lot... couldn't be bothered to smile or attend to you non-begrudgingly for the most part...lol sour pups these ones! Rooms were decent, just make sure to check that your AC is working before you accept a room.. in one of our rooms, they were 'fixing' it for the 6 days we were there. Baboons! Whaaaaaat! !! Take cover!!! they are not afraid and will maim you... add to the fact that they do not consider female human beings as worthy opponents...hahaha no amount of shoooing will help if you're a lady.. (true story) get a man to escort you especially if you're carrying any food with you. Overall ok experience only that I think they are overwhelmed by numbers which I guess is a good problem to have but need to up their game to improve on guest experience. The night shows are great too! One last bit, prepare to WALK!!! The property is vast!! 😨😨😨 your dinner or lunch is out of your system by the time you're back to the room...😂😂😂

"Baobab wonderful again"

   26-11-2016
My wife and I had a very good time during our stay. A good sized room comfortable and clean. The food was good with something for every one which changed every day. This is the third time that we have stayed in the Baobab resort and every time has been a good time. Wonderful location good service from a very helpful and cheerful staff from the head chef to the garden and maintenance guys. Well done all of you we will be back again. We booked through Hayes and Jarvis the stay was for 22days with a 6 night safari in between. Pollman's safari was again a wonderful trip our driver guide and spotter brilliant thank you Julius, will never forget the pack of wild dogs that we saw. So many brilliant moments.

"All about Volume"

Nice location on Diani Beach - the Baobab is a huge resort - good place for the budget conscious. Several pools and bars, large buffet style meals - not really much personal attention as the staff has many many people to accommodate. At the bar - beer is lukewarm, the liquor and wine in the all inclusive is awful, although you have the open of paying for better wine/liquor. Watch out for the aggressive monkeys - I was grabbed (my foot) by several of them walking along the paths - and one ran into the restaurant up onto my table and tried to grab food from my plate - the staff try to chase them away but there are a lot of them. The room was comfortable and clean.
