"Stunning beach resort in Mombasa"

This stay was lovely! Was really sad to leave :( the resort itself is gorgeous and the setting could not be more perfect. Room was perfect as was the pool area. Our food the entire stay was superb, lots of choice and the Imani Dhow was a brilliant end to our stay. Best part was the staff and team here, nothing is too much trouble and we lost count of the smiles and "hellos" we received while there. This place is a gem and we would recommend to anyone :) must go back next year :)

"Beautiful setting - fantastic wedding"

We were lucky enough to stay at Severin Sea Lodge in two parts for a wedding. Overall, we found the setting fantastic, the staff hospitable and the activities top-notch. The beach is good for a wander, but you are pretty much absolutely bombarded with beach sellers as soon as you leave the hotel! The wedding itself was extremely well hosted and all guests were accommodated extremely well. Bar service was a bit patchy in places.. but folks seemed to be able to get what they wanted with a bit of persistence. A few points for improvement: Breakfast was excellent, but we struggled for tables a few times when the wedding was in full swing. Before the other guests arrived, the place was really quite quiet, but service still was quite slow. However, to make up for it, the food was really good. I once waited three days for a cup to be put into my room. By the third day I'd given up asking, and then it randomly appeared. Check-out number 1 was hair-raising. I'd been in continuous contact with the hotel and had received confirmation of my advance payment. However, it took quite a bit of effort with extremely patchy wifi to produce proof that I'd done this. Also, drilling next to our room at 8am is not really advised. Leave it until later, or declare some rooms out of service - particularly if you have had a wedding going on the night before and those guests are staying right next to the drilling!? What I'd advise is to enjoy your time here and enjoy your time in the moment. Yes, sometimes the service is slow, or there is a misunderstanding. Yes there may not be exactly enough towels in your room. Yes, the insistence on you having a card you were never given in order to receive pool towels is a bit weird... BUT The setting is fantastic. Persevere with the staff and you will be rewarded. Embrace the culture and the environment and you will reap the benefits. The hotel is wonderful - don't let a missed towel here and there ruin your holiday, because it really won't. The staff who service your room have good attention to detail and the rooms themselves are a lovely hideaway. Our room (Comfort room) had a balcony and we had a great view of the central bit of the hotel. The pools are clean and there are plenty of loungers in a variety of locations. Added little bits like the ping-pong table help to keep you occupied. Have fun! All in all, I highly recommend Severin and I definitely would return again if I ever found myself in Mombasa. A big thank you to all the staff who made our stay fantastic. Shout out to the animation team who helped get me over my mornings, and also the breakfast team.

"Family friendly beach hotel"

We just came back from spending 8 days at the Severin hotel. Before booking this hotel I perused through the many reviews to make sure that I was not wasting my time and money. I found out that many of the guests who have left a review were generally satisfied with the various facilities offered by the hotel. the 2 pool areas were family friendly and my kids spent most of the afternoon there. The breakfast buffet was variable and We especially loved the freshly made omellette and pancakes. We had booked a comfort room and were provided with a mini fridge, flatscreen TV and blow drier. The only criticism I want to reise is the restaurant billing system. A family We became friends with warned us about the waiters rigging your bill. They had received a bill for food and drinks they had not consumed. Sure enough I was viggilant. On my last day when checking out and wanting to clear my bill, i sure indeed found a bill that did not belong to us. I pointed this out to the cashier who proffesionally handled the matter and rectified this 'mistake'. So Severin managers, if you read this, please adress this matter internally with your restaurant and bar workers. Otherwise, the hotel is splendid. The food is good, the rooms are clean and in excellent condition...atleast our comfort room was satisfactory. The animation team do a superb job. Please give Clemence and Tony a raise for their good work. The restaurant supervisor Holliness is the most friendly and proffesional worker there. I will definately stay there again.

"Good value"

Spent 5 days at this hotel.....Rooms a bit dated but the food was good....I wasn't keen on buffet food so the staff allowed me to order on the menu which turned out very good food....Staff lovely ....The swing bar would be good with a thatched roof and comfortable chairs.....The quiet pool needs a swim up bar .....Value for money exceptional

"Severin ruined our holiday"

There is a construction site making noise inside the hotel. There was not hot water, just lukewarm. The WiFi was working at random, only a few minutes per day. The food was consistently from lowest quality. The staff was very friendly with the exception of the lady at the reception (Edna) unfortunately, who was tyrannizing every guest
