"Wonderful Property "
We stayed here for a week and hated to check out. The friendly employees really make the place. It is not a huge hotel which is a plus. The beach is beautiful and the grounds are lush with beautiful tropical foliage. The breakfast menu was varied and the food great each morning. My wife and I loved the location being so close to Playas del Coco, Flamingo, and Tamarindo. The restaurants in the area are really good, and many within walking distance. Try the snickers cheesecake at Castillo across the street, unreal!
"Updated rooms are very good "
There was a major mess up between our travel agents and this hotel, resulting in a very disappointing standard room which we refused to accept. We finally spent 2 nights in a suite - very nice - and 1 night in two of the refurbished rooms which was even better. The staff were really nice and most apologetic (they needed to be!). Food in the restaurant was good and not noticeably more expensive than most of the other restaurants in the area. The hotel is right by the beach, but as this wasn't particularly nice we didn't spend much time there, other than walking along it early in the morning. The hotel grounds were well tended and the pool was cleared of leaves a couple of times a day at least. It would seem the hotel management have been taking notice of negative reviews made on various travel sites as it was much better than we had feared!
"Relaxing Couple of Days in Playa Potrero"
Bahia del Sol is a nice, small beachfront resort. We were very happy with the resort, the location on the beach is terrific, its very close to a number of restaurants. The breakfast and service was very good. Check in at front desk was good, they got us into the room and onto the beach quickly. Our room was facing the back, so was quiet but no view.
Beautiful beach front hotel secure parking, great rooms with porch. safe, refrigerator. indoor & outdoor shower, outdoor jacuzie on private back yard. good restaurant breakfast included. swimming pool bar you can relax and enjoy.
"We loved this place! Quiet, laid back, relaxing and close to many things"
We were so happy with this place! We had two adults and two young teenage boys. The hotel was perfectly relaxed and laid back. Everyone was very friendly and helpful always. We joked about the slow service but seriously, it was not slow, just laid back! If you are on vacation, don't be in a hurry. We loved eating at the restaurant - food was very good and we opted to stay many days for lunch and one time for dinner. The breakfast that was included was really yummy and we tried almost everything on the menu over our 5 day stay. Each day they served us fresh juice, different each day. The daily happy hour was also fun. We'd get some drinks and watch the sun set, then take a beach walk. I am getting relaxed just writing about it - this was a perfect 5 day getaway. A few more things we loved: There are two grocery stores. One run by a french guy - 1 block away. Tons of high end things from truffle oil to bottle water, wine, chips, meats, and basics. This was a really good store! The other grocery was maybe 2 blocks away and was fun to visit. Very local and authentic - a treat to get a taste of the more local culture. Chickens running around free outside, a cat keeping the mice away (inside) and lots of other things you would never see in the US. We loved the restaurant closest to the hotel, I think it was called Nasu. This was really a pleasant surprise. The food was very good. Again, just a great feeling of a really local place, really nice people trying hard to make a nice experience. They have a pool and little cabana across from the restaurant seating area that gave it an LA feel, kind of cool place for the quiet town of Potrero. It seemed to be the IT place in Potrero. Rooms: we were very happy with our room. Not 5 star, which we usually do, but it was still very nice. We had an older room and I saw some newly remodeled rooms which looked very good too. We wanted a suite with kitchen which they had available. We knew we would be out on tours or at beach and pool most of the time so the room was less important. We had a large, private deck outside, two bedrooms each with private bath and a large living/dining area. It was a really perfect home base. It was safe, no issues with theft or security. Everything was clean and comfortable. This was definitely better than going to an American type resort. It was not ever crowded, the pool rarely had more than 3-4 people in it, we always got to sit outside to dine when we wanted, and overall, it was just superbly laid back and chill.
