"Nice pool, great location"

   28-02-2017
I was here with a tour for 2 nights. Our building was on the other side of the road and back by the adult pool. The rooms are a little outdated but still acceptable. I loved the big pool that is like a pond the way it is slopped. The location is superb being right on the main strip and right on the beach. An excellent breakfast also!

"hotel on the beach"

   27-02-2017
I read many negative reviews before our trip, but we had a fabulous stay, I would definitely go back! We stayed in the oceanfront rooms and wouldn't change that. We had read they were more dated than others, but friends with a Laguna view room said ours was identical. We didn't have any trouble with plumbing, toilets, etc as I had read. Housekeeping was attentive and was in our room daily. There is a small safe in the room for passports, cash, etc. We enjoyed the lounge chairs on the grass, the palm trees provided some shade. We felt very safe and didn't worry about our belongings at all. Breakfast was fine, lots of fresh fruit, eggs/omlettes, waffles, rice/beans, cereals, pastry. For people who said it wasn't good I am not sure what they wanted.... The only restaurant at the hotel we tried was the pizza place and it was fantastic. For $10 you can order and take it back to your lounger. The Mandarina juice bar across the street has snadwiches and salads, again a sandwich and a great smoothie is lunch for $10. Friends spent some time at the family pool and swim up bar and really enjoyed that, but we stuck to the beach. The beach beds at the adult only pool were amazing. The small pool on the ocean side was refreshing and a quick dip was often in order between swims in the ocean, it never had more than a few people in it. There are some volcanic rocks in the water in front of the hotel, but just watch at low tide on your first day and you will be able to see where to swim. You can also take a few steps to the right up the beach and the water is clear. Overall we had a great stay and realy enjoyed the proximity to the ocean.

"Beautiful view, nice location, below-average service"

   25-02-2017
The hotel is in a great location with shopping and plenty of great restaurants within a few blocks. The view from the beachside portion of the hotel is amazing! We stayed on the ocean side of the hotel and never ventured to the other side. Our room was nice, not very big but adequate. Bathroom was tint but the sink is outside the the bathroom so that helped. The shower is huge but the temp could note controlled- it went from tepid to scalding with no adjusting from the bather. Also, we started out with a full complement of towels but getting them replaced was a crap shoot. We had to call the desk every day to get towels or hand towels or bath mat. The pool on the Ocean side is small but nice. There are plastic lounge chairs around the pool area that are very uncomfortable. I couldn't sit for more than 10 minutes without having to get up for awhile. I noticed some people had some (waterproof) cushions on theirs and found stacks of them near the restaurant. When I tried to take a few, I was reprimanded by a server and told I couldn't take them. I even asked at the front desk if they had some sort of cushions for the chairs and was told they don't. I eventually brought a pillow from my bed- problem solved! I did notice that many of the beachfront restaurants offer nice comfortable looking chaises-for the price of a few drinks, I'm guessing you could use those for a few hours. The sunsets are amazing and the hotel offers a 2 for 1 happy hour special on drinks. Most (or all) of the beachside restaurants have sunset specials also. Overall, I don't think the Diria is worth the price.

"A Fabulous Vacation!!!"

   25-02-2017
If you are looking for a vacation of a lifetime, consider Tamarindo, Costa Rica. Last year my wife and I decided to venture out to an alternative to our usual vacation destination in Venice Beach, CA and set Tamarindo, Costa Rica as our goal. We had a lot of frequent flyer miles saved up and used some of them to book our flight to Liberia Airport instead of flying into San Jose, the Capital of Costa Rica as it is just an hour by car from Tamarindo. After a lot of computer research we booked 10 days at the Diria Resort Hotel which is right on the sand at Tamarindo Beach. We chose a room on the 3rd floor due to the spectacular views. The room was lovely and had a killer balcony. It came with a breakfast buffet option. The buffet was to die for. The selections were many and varied from morning to morning. Being in Costa Rica, the coffee was delicious. There is a private, guarded beach access. While there were signed up for a day trip to a wildlife sanctuary that was the highlight of our trip. We had White Faced Monkeys actually come out of the jungle and climb right onto our boat. It is illegal to feed them but not for them to climb all over the passengers looking for a hand out. They were gentle and a delight to interact with. We also took a snorkeling cruise on a large sailing ship which includes all of your favorite drinks, and Flaminco Guitarist and gourmet appetizers served throughout the day. The ship returns just as the sun is setting. We took advantage of the many restaurants and watering holes within easy walking distance of the hotel. Our favorite was a short stroll down the beach, nextdoor to the resort. It is called The Latitude Blue and our favorite waiter was Andres Rodriquez. If you go there, please ask for Andres and tell him that Dennis and Bozena send their greetings. I hope they still have the Fire Show as it is not to be missed. I know this was a long winded review but it only touches the surface of the fabulous time we enjoyed. We hated to leave...

"Beautiful beach and sunsets"

   23-02-2017
This hotel boasts a great location with awesome beach, sunsets and plenty of restaurants and shops within a few blocks. No need for cars or taxis. While the beachfront room views are spectacular the lagoon rooms are better located to the two magnificent pool areas. Service is their number one concern and they go out of their way to make visitors welcome and comfortable. Breakfast, included in your stay, is a full buffet with omelet station, waffle station, fresh fruit and just about anything you could want for breakfast. The only negative is the lack of water pressure, and sometimes hot water in the beautiful and large showers.
