"Don't Miss This Beautiful Place"

   16-03-2017
My wife and I visited this incredible camp during the late part of January. The rock art is certainly interesting but this camp is architecturally magnificent. We seemed to be the only visitors for the two days that we spent in this camp. Unbelievable because this place has so much natural beauty that it screams out. The chalets are beautiful in themselves. Very creatively designed and stunning in their own right. The Rock art museum wasn't open. But we were able to see the petroglyphs along side the road on the way out of the camp. This would be a great place for a honeymoon.

"Sad decline"

   12-03-2017
Didima is situated in the most beautiful mountainous surroundings. That and the pleasantness of the staff is about all I can say in a positive vein. The infrastructure has been left to decay with little or no maintenance. There appears to be a lack of will to preserve what was once a prestige destination. It is a shame that this has been allowed to happen and heads should roll.

"Great location and view"

   19-02-2017
We spent very good weekends there. It is ideally located for mountain lovers with some hikes all along rivers and waterfalls. The accommodations are a little bit dated but still very confortable and originals. Only bémol: the staff is not always friendly.

"Great stay, great view"

   15-01-2017
This was our second stay at Didima, the first one being in 2014,and we were glad to be back. The view of the Drakensberg is stunning, so the surroundings get a 5 star themselves. Our chalet smelled a bit weird it's true, like mushroom soup, but at least we had a fan for the hot days, and a radiator for the cold ones (albeit it was missing two wheels). We had to ask for a shampoo refill as it was finished and no one replaced it, also at some point our soap finished and didn't get replaced until the very last day when we didn't need it, but those are small details for us. We asked for a mobile braai and we braai-ed every evening so we never ate at the restaurant in the evening. Instead we ate every morning the breakfast they provided which was ok. The shop is reasonably stocked given its remoteness, not many things you can buy there except the basics and some curio items, t shirts, fire supplies, frozen meat etc. Overall we enjoyed our 9 day stay there and would definitely come back.

"This decline is immensely saddening!"

   09-01-2017
We are extremely disgusted and disappointed in our recent stay at Didima Camp (from 23 -27 December 2016).We have visited the camp twice before, the last time having been in 2005 and we enjoyed it very much but now the standards have dropped right through the floor. On arrival the staff were lying around on the grass and appeared quite unfriendly and completely disinterested in guests. The KZN Wildlife flag as well as the national flag hung in tatters on the flag poles. We were also informed by reception that the Koi-San visitors centre was closed due to maintenance and they had no idea when it might open again (very poor planning seeing as December is peak tourist season). At 14:00 were given the key to enter our rooms. On our way there we noticed that the grass along the footpaths hadn't been cut in a while and various foot lamps lay broken along the side. When we got to our chalet the cleaning lady was still busy and only finished an hour and 15 minutes later while we waited outside. Upon entering we were shocked. Paint was peeling everywhere and almost every wall had disgusting stain marks, the origin of which one can only guess. Our room in particular had foot prints on the walls! The windows hadn't been cleaned, the carpets looked like they hadn't been washed since installation, half of the door knobs were missing and the blinds in the room was broken We went to the restaurant for Christmas eve where the same theme of decline continued. Only two waitresses (clearly trainees as they knew nothing about the food or wine selection) were on duty and our meal took just over an hour to arrive. The food was average yet exorbitantly priced. On the 26th the accounting systems in the shop was down and on the 27th the reception system was down. On departure we were also billed triple the amount for the tennis rackets we hired as the system stated that we hired rackets more than the one time we actually did. This decline is immensely saddening! The marketing team should do the public a favour and go see these "luxury" chalets for themselves. Either they are part of the false advertising or really have no clue as the shambles the place is in. The reserve remains so beautiful and the view from the camp is exquisite but that is really all Didima has going for it these days. It is quite clear that management has very low or no standards by which they run their ship. So much potential wasted...
