Over Sabi Sabi Selati Camp

"Incredible Safari Experience!!"

   15-01-2017
We just got back from our safari at Sabi Sabi Selati, and we already want to go back!! We LOVED it. Everything was amazing - the game drives, the staff, the food, and the accommodations. We wouldn't have changed a thing!

"Sabi Sabi Bliss"

Highly recommended, saw amazing animal interaction. Staff were exemplary with their knowledge of the animals and birds. Meeting and dining with other people from other parts of the world was fun. Having the camp situated overlooking a water hole was a wonderful extra.

"6 stars!"

I loved loved loved this place - didn't want to leave. I went to Selati as part of an REI Adventures trip and couldn't have been happier, my expectations were exceeded. The rooms are beautiful - cozy, well-appointed, roomy, yet still very "colonial" and "safari" feeling. And there's only a handful of rooms (10? 12?) so the experience is nice and intimate. (if you want something more social and modern, this company also has the Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge, but I didn't like it as much). The food is extraordinary - Chef Cibo outdid himself every time. And the safari was amazing. Being on a private reserve (vs. a public, like Kruger) makes a world of difference. Our tracker Donald did a great job finding all sorts of animals, and importantly, animals "in action"/behaviors (vs. just standing around). And our ranger Garrett went off-road with confidence and intention to ensure we saw everything and provided all sorts of wonderful information. And finally, shout out to Ashleigh who runs this place like a master and ensured we had absolutely everything we needed. So, net: if you want to do safari in South Africa - just book this place. You'll be really happy.

"More than an excellent. Recommendation plus!"

Sometimes words are not enough to describe an experience. The lodge & room are gorgeous (we really liked the outdoor bathroom with a view). The staff is amazing. Chef Gift's food is really nice, also for vegetarians. The safaris and walks were perfect thanks to our ranger & spotter. And all the little surprises they organized...just incredible. And above all the intimate atmosphere is really enjoyable. Selati Camp will surely be part of the next trip to SA.

"Spectacular! "

Just a little background my boyfriend and I accompanied my parents and we spent four nights at this amazing hotel. The hotel is small and intimate which I really liked. There is a watering hole that is frequently visited by elephants and other wildlife. I love that the hotel doesn't have a fence and that the wildlife can go through the middle of the hotel. You really feel connected to the bush. Do not be alarmed, you are very safe. The staff is very aware of the surroundings and you always have an escort to and from your room at night or if you ever feel uncomfortable. The meals are amazing and all meals and drinks were included. While we did have a meal from Gift our last night, Sefu(sp?) was our primary chef and they both did not disappoint. You get a pre-Safari buffet, a snack and coffee while you are on safari, a breakfast waiting for you when you come back from Safari. There is also lunch followed by afternoon tea. When you are on your afternoon Safari you have cocktails and snacks. For dinner there is always a fabulous and diverse selection of three courses. I enjoyed everything I ate here. trust me you will never go hungry. The staff went out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable and safe. Especially, Ashleigh, Jean Marie and Salvation! Onto the guides. We had Patrick and Richard who were very knowledgeable and terrific at their jobs. We saw all of the big five multiple times. We all got along very well and had a lot of laughs. I never felt unsafe while on safari although we did get very close to many animals including lions and leopards. We also saw giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas, mongooses to name a few. We did the walking tour, and although we did not see any animals we still enjoyed it. The rooms are lovely with an outdoor shower, indoor shower and soaking tub. Water pressure is great. Wifi is available in the main hotel area. I highly recommend the village tour. You're taken to the nearest village where many of the employees are from. You are able to go to the local school and interact with the children. The children are loving and sweet and just want to hug you. There are other surprises on the way but for me this was the best part. I honestly could go on and on. I have been dying to go on a safari ever since I was little and this far exceeded my expectations. Thank you and I hope to be back one day.
