"2 bedroom family room - perfect for our family"
This was an excellent hotel for our family providing 2 bedrooms and a lounge room all with harbor views. A small kitchen was provided which had a washing machine! Which was priceless for a long family vacation with little children! A complimentary bus was provided that ran every 15 / 20 mins to and from the heart of Kowloon. We arrived very early (9am) and the staff were happy to hold our luggage and use the complimentary bus prior to the 2pm check-in. The continental breakfast was adequate and open until 10am for late risers. The only quirk of this hotel was to charge a deposit for any damage to the room. This deposit was then returned to us at the end of our stay. The plus side of the deposit was it paid for our trip to the airport
"Staff needs to be more courteous"
We stayed at the Harbour Front for four days. The first impression of the hotel was not good. We arrived from Macau and reached the hotel at 9 am and were greeted by a very rude receptionist. We were told that the room booked for us had not been vacated and here exact words were “go back and come back to the hotel at 2 pmâ€. We tried to explain to her that we had a tour booked at 12 and we needed to leave for that and would like to freshen up before that. We got a pat reply that she cannot do anything and we would have to wait. I understand that hotels have strict check-in and check-out timings but the staff needs be more courteous. Also, they claim to be a Five star and we had pre-booked and paid the entire tariff well in advance. So, I am sure that our arrival timings would have been shared with them and they could have worked out a better arrangement. Apart from this, the hotel doesn’t even have a proper lounge area they expected us to sit at their little bakery shop for 3 whole hours as they do not have a proper lobby area where guest can wait for their room being vacated. Anyways we got our luggage tagged and waited for our tour guide to pick us from the hotel and went exploring the city. When we came back which was around 8 pm our luggage was still kept at the reception and hadn’t been moved to our room which I believe all hotels do. The hotel definitely needs to train their staff to be more courteous, no one smiles, no one greets, everyone just has blank expressions all the time. Our room in itself was comfortable and spacious. We had a nice view of the harbor from our room. But we had a packed schedule that we hardly got time to stay in the room which I do not know is a good thing or a bad one. There were hardly any variations in the buffet menu. But whatever we ate tasted good. Also, the steam/sauna and swimming pool area of the hotel is nice. Among the staff, the only saving grace was Ms Anacia (I may have spelled her name wrong) who always greeted us with a smile and even allowed us a late-check out as our return flight was in the evening.
"Good alternative to a hotel "
We stayed here in a 2 bedroom apartment for 6 nights with our 2 teenage children. In short, I thought that this was a much better alternative to a hotel as it gave us more space and was more economical. The apartment was comfortable for a family: 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, main lounge area with TV, table and chairs, coffee table, sofa. Small but usable kitchen. The kitchen was equipped with plates, cutlery, cups, glasses, some pots and pans, a kettle, fridge, microwave and hotplates. A combination washer/dryer is in the apartment. We could work the washer function but the dryer was a different story. We called for help which came quickly and once we were shown what to do it was easy to use the dryer function. There was a hairdryer in the apartment. It was serviced daily which included fresh towels and toiletries. We paid the extra for a harbour view and I am glad that we did, I would much rather see the harbour than the freeways on the other side of the building. That is probably an individual call though. Breakfast on the 1st floor was OK for a basic hotel breakfast. There was no fresh fruit, but there was cereal, toast and pastries, some Chinese food (porridge and pork buns), tea and coffee. You can pay extra for eggs, specialty coffee, etc if you wish. The complimentary phone was handy when sightseeing. The pool was closed (Winter) when we were there. My husband used the gym and said that it was OK. Don't be put off by the location of this hotel. I was a little concerned about the location when I booked but as this was the only reasonably priced apartment hotel available for short term stays in Hong Kong I went ahead - and I am glad that I did! The walk along the Harbourfront to the left of the hotel as you face the harbour is lovely. There are always taxis ready to take you anywhere in Hong Kong at the front entrance. There is also a shuttle bus to central Kowloon which we did not use. The Whampoa shopping area is a short walk away.
"Out of the way with no bar. Appartment style rooms"
Fairly nice hotel with good spacious rooms - more like apartments really and very unusual to get so much space when in HK. Don't take debit cards for deposits so I was treated like a high risk potential criminal at check-in. Immediately removing any minibar stock and mobile phone! After a long day of meetings and travel from Shanghai, this really was disappointing. Pool looked nice and the gym facilities were very good - managed to make use of the gym during my stay. Wouldn't hurt to put a water dispenser in or nearby the gym. The main downsides for me were that you were really out of the way and quite far from TST. Regular shuttles were on offer but I personally like to be based more centrally. The other big surprise was that there was no lobby bar - just a basic café style open area - very strange and this gave the whole place a quite cold feel. I do travel to HK frequently but will not be staying here again. Great if on a slightly tighter budget and for travelling families but not for me. The views over the harbour of HK Island were great just outside the hotel grounds!
Yet another fantastic getaway. Straight from China to this magnificent place with such an amazing view of HK Island and the harbour. Located minutes away from the MTR, Kowloon Harbourfront Hotel offers a stylish and affordable living environment perfect for any type of travel - business, solo and families. Checking in wasn't a hassle at all. We were greeted with big smiles and a "Welcome to the Kowloon Harbourfront Hotel". Perfect location with a complimentary shuttle to take you to the nearby malls and the city. Just superb.
