"Nice small luxury resort"
A nice and small resort in Kerala. Europeans might lack the air condition in the lobby. They have made a small lagoon and a small nice "paradize". But Europeans might find it a little to small. We found the back ground music a little to loud in the restaurant. We stayed in a very nice hut.
""Thank You So Much Team Zuri""
I was there with my family for two nights and trust me we had an awesome stay. Lovely place and property. we enjoyed their own house boat and had lunch. they provided me with the room at the ground floor but I wish I was given a room at the first floor with the balcony, for wish I was asked to pay a little extra but I denied. nevertheless my stay in the ground floor was also awesome and we enjoyed to the fullest. I should not forget to mention that the staffs were amazing and lovely. love you team Zuri. keep it up. will visit again and hope to see more good. best wishes. "Wonderful stay at a beautiful resort"
Our family of 4 including 2 boys aged 6 and 4 years stayed at this resort for 3 nights. We upgraded to a pool villa on check - in. The pool villa was delightful. A large bedroom with en- suite bathroom including toilet, bidet, bath, shower as well as an outside shower area, a living room, a small tea and coffee station, a kitchen table and a guest toilet with shower. The best part was the private pool with jacuzzi overlooking Vembanad Lake. The only negative aspect that made me a bit nervous with the children was that there was a rope net between the garden in front of the villa and the lake. I did not allow the kids to play outside alone because of this. I would have preferred a glass barrier instead. The staff at check in and at the restaurant were very polite, helpful and efficient. The restaurant was expensive compared to the other 5 Star resorts we stayed at in Kerala. The food at breakfast was lovely with a great selection of Local and International Options. Lunch and Dinner was also very good and the room service was efficient. The spa was good - I had 2 massages and my husband had one massage. The houseboat from the hotel was very expensive for a 5 hr tour including lunch. It was a similar price to a pool villa upgrade for 3 days so we chose the latter. We toured the backwaters on a speedboat which allowed us to go through the smaller canals and the speedboat was great fun especially for the kids and the scenery and bird viewing was really beautiful. The resort grounds are nicely laid out and well maintained. The gym was well equipped with beautiful views. It was a pleasure walking around the resort and we had a very relaxing and rejuvenating stay.
"Amazing setting ruined by tired rooms and staff"
We spent 3 nights here and were generally less than impressed. The rooms (not cottages) are tired and in need of general up-grading and the whole place including the restaurant (I only mention one restaurant there are in fact 2 but the Japanese Restaurant was closed for building work!) needs bring into the 21st century. At first impression it looks amazing and the setting is breath-taking. It is right on the Vembanad Lake but also has it's own lagoon but when you get to your room and find a bath which is peeling and covered in stain and taps that only work on hot you realise all is not what it should be. The staff are not trained properly very few speak good English or understand and furthermore don't listen. They are also lazy. We went to the pool (which is beautiful and right on the lagoon) for three consecutive days and there were 3 glasses on the bar which hadn't been moved and were still there when we left. The restaurant serves good buffet food and has an a la carte menu as well but this is printed on a very large heavy piece of plastic and the food from that menu is not the best - stick to the Buffet. In fact the staff always encourage you to have the Buffet as it is easier for them! The atmosphere in the Restaurant is very canteen-like and lacking although there us some entertainment most evenings which we enjoyed. There is little to do outside the hotel but a boat trip is offered around the lake early evening which was great. I wouldn't say don't go but I would say just be aware of what you are in for and all will be ok. Once we had learned to accept the way it was we had a good time but 3 nights was long enough. They do a lot of conferences and weddings which probably keeps them going as this seems more important to them than the individual guests. For example there was a wedding there when we stayed and when we asked for bottles of chilled water we were told there wasn't any it was all for the wedding and that happened on all 3 nights!
"Thank you so much"
Restuarant only review: Regrettably, we were booked into a nearby hotel - Lake Song. Our experience at Lake Song has been very poor, but that’s another review and another story. In desperation I phoned the restuarant manager at The Zuri and asked if we could dine in the restuarant there instead. He kindly obliged (thank you so much) and I have to say The Zuri has gone some small way to saving what was otherwise going to be another miserably evening at Lake Song. We took the small walk from where we were staying and was immediately impressed by the much better ambience. The food was absolutely delightful and our splendid waiter, Murza, made the short evening meal we had an absolute joy. Next time we come to Kerala The Zuri is absolutely no doubt going to be the place we choose to stay and I only regret that our tour operator had not selected this place for our currents stay.
