"The real thing "

I am staying at the Coin de Mire at the moment. It is one of the most friendly hotels I've stayed in. All the staff are unfailingly helpful and their welcome never seems forced. This is a three star place that tries, successfully, to be authentic Mauritian. Some people have complained about the food. The food is fine. For a mid sized three star hotel, they deliver a good range of food. If you want international cuisine then go to five star Le Residence in Bel Mare. Coin de Mire does everything it claims to be. There are two pools, a pool bar and various activities. The beach is just across the road and is quiet, but has various activities which are free to residents. At the rocky end of the bay you can see small fish swimming in the volcanic rocks. Much larger fish are not far out if you like snorkeling. Overall my friends and I are having a really enjoyable holiday here.

"Great value for money!"

We booked a seaview room and wasn't disappointed. The rooms are tastefully furnished and equipped with air con, hairdryer, kettle and safe. They are cleaned daily and our room maid Khatoo did some fantastic things with our towels! (See pics). The restaurant was buffet style and there was lots of choice. We originally booked half board but found everything we had to pay for really expensive (£30 for bottle wine) so we upgraded to all inclusive after 2nd day for around £200 each. The hotel is about 10 mins by taxi to Grand Bay where all the action is or you can take the local bus, usually driven by a lunatic but much cheaper option! We preferred the quieter location of our hotel. We did a tour to the South of the island by taxi and so glad we did, the scenes and sights were beyond stunning. Our driver was a lovely man called Mr Sunil who taxis for the hotel. What else can I tell you? There is entertainment every night. We would def go back to this hotel.

"Beautiful "

My boyfriend took me to Mauritius as a birthday present and I was so excited and I had every right to be. This hotel was amazing. A smaller hotel is just what we wanted. Upon arrival they give you a book to keep notes of your holiday which is a really nice touch. The room was basic but it was always cleaned and it had everything we needed. The breakfast options were brilliant. We had dinner there 5 out of 8 nights. We wanted to go and explore. The hotel food was good and I like that they had local food available. I would definitely come back but next time for much longer.

"Great welcoming Front Desk staff Hat's off ,Ashley ,Manuella and Tashana are absolutely polite and have been on the top "

Regarding The Culinary experience-Really poor quality of food.lack of flavour lack of finesse no care at all.very dissapointing on the culinary experience. For my experience this place needs a strong and creativity Chef who can turn this place a wow factor.Let's hope so The restaurant staff are great and always smiling.Overall most staff are polite and happy to help. Anand the Security has a great personality always happy to help.Well done Well located not far from Grand Baie only 5 mins drive..lovely view of the unique COIN DE MIRE.Stunning Beach No wifi in the room.

"Excellent value for money in paradise"

This is our second trip to Mauritius. We picked Coin De Mire hotel as we thought we'd pop down to Grand Baie most evenings and it looked good from photos and reviews. We went once to Grand Baie and then headed back for dinner as we couldn't find anything that offered us vegetarians much. We were welcomed in the airy reception area by friendly staff who provided a cold refreshing soft drink and cold flannel after an hour taxi journey. We were also given a diary. We were shown to our room quickly. We were in 418 which was a top floor room, a little further set back from the road, with the garden and bougainvillea trees in front. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the evening watching the birds in the trees. You can also see the sea and reef through the trees. We had a resident gecko who would visit our balcony too. The rooms are large with a decent sized bed (quite a firm mattress), sofa, desk and chair, fridge, large TV. There is a sliding door to the wardrobe area and sink with shower and toilet. There are no toiletries just soap is topped up. There is a fan and air conditioning in the rooms. The hotel room has a mix of UK and European plug sockets (but not many). Some might find the rooms a little dated and in need of a revamp but we were happy. There are 2 pools, one main pool and one that goes around the bar area. We didn't use either but there were plenty of comfy looking sun loungers with umbrellas. The bar area is nice and there is entertainment each night. We particularly liked two young men with a guitar and drum who sang covers. We also watched the Sega night with dancers. We were happy to discover we have booked half board. Breakfast and dinner buffet were both good for us as vegetarians. They have themed nights but always a section with Indian food (which isn't too spicy/hot - have the green chilli to add some heat). We didn't find that we got bored or thought there wasn't enough variety (we all probably have the same breakfast most mornings at home). Lunch was a bit more challenging as we didn't want another buffet lunch and could only get snacks from the bar after 3pm. On occasions there was some confusion whether that was available or whether the rotis were available too. It's probably worth while booking all inclusive here as there was little locally to provide lunch (unless you hop on a bus to Pereybere). It also includes water which would have been nice to have some free in the mini bar. The beach is just a walk across the road and down some steps. Where you will find Sunshine who sells hat, sarongs, bags, jelly shoes, snorkel and masks and towels. He comes around regularly to chat. There is a little beach shack where you can book activities. But there is also a guy called Canon who also sells boat trips - we did the speed boat to Gabriel Island and would recommend it. The hotel have their own catamaran that you can do a trip out on. There are some umbrellas and sun loungers. You can walk along the beach either way and find other coves. The water in the bay isn't great for snorkelling but you can go out on the glass bottom boat to have a quick snorkel. The decor in the hotel is lovely and we liked the style of hotel rooms with just 2 floors and thatched roofs. The staff were friendly and helpful. We would recommend this hotel as it is real value for money in what can be a pricey island hotel wise.
