The Seyyida Hotel

Over The Seyyida Hotel

"Just OK"

Hotel located in a ally. We had to carry out baggage to hotel not cars in ally.. Driver let us off at the end of ally. Did not feel very safe in the ally and told my husband to make sure we were back to hotel by dark. Staff was very nice we did not need them after check in. Room was clean. Roof top restaurant was nothing to talk about. They were out of half of the things on the menu, jumbo shrimp was small. Breakfast was not that good. Found someone to give us a city tour which was nice. Would look for a different hotel if I ever go back

"Great Value For Money, Excellent Staff and Clean!"

Stayed at Seyyida for two nights. Paid 100USD for a double room and to be honest, what you get is more than what you pay for. Absolutely amazing value for money! The staff is very kind and helpful, very flexible too to meet whatever needs you have. The location is super convenient as well. One minute walk to the House of Wonders. Two minutes from Forodhani Gardens. Safe to walk about even late in the night - streets are well lit. The rooms are super duper clean as well. And there is fast WiFi in the rooms too. Ocean views from the rooftop dining area. Only downside is the the breakfast lacks variety. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Stone Town, you will not regret your choice!

"Beautiful place, great location"

I only stayed for one night, but loved it. I was impressed by the decor and the attention to little details. I had a view of the waterfront with a balcony in my room. The staff were so friendly and helpful and helped me arrange a trip to Prison Island when I requested as soon as I arrived. The rooftop dining area offers great views, and breakfast was amazing. The sound carries, and there was some sort of night party or rock band playing the night I stayed, so it was quite loud, but they didn't carry on for too long. I liked that they have multiple wifi locations/routers throughout the premises. Highly recommended.

"Happy endings in Stone Town!"

I admit it... I suffer from hotel envy. When I've decided on a place to stay, I can't resist going into other hotels and checking out their rooms to see how mine measures up. I can confidently say I had absolutely no hotel envy while staying at the authentic and enchanting Seyyida. Stone Town seems to offer two styles of hotels on opposite ends of the spectrum. Rustic hotels with original Zanzibar furnishings where rooms are arrived at via a long winding dark and narrow staircase. Some of these are good value for money, while others are wildly overpriced. These are contrasted by their newer hotel cousins, which try to mimic Zanzibar's spicy vibe but seem to fall flat despite their heavy price tag. The Seyyida seems to marry Zanzibar's new with the old effortlessly, while remaining affordable. With both authentic accents and modern amenities, our stay here was the perfect end to our Zanzibar holiday. A gracious marble staircase overlooking a four story courtyard winds up to the rooms. With creature comforts, like air conditioning, cable television and wifi, our room was both visually and physically inviting. The restaurant on the fourth floor gives a front row, unobstructed seat to Zanzibar's famous sunsets. Breakfast was delicious, but dinner was perfection. We opted for the four course prex fixe menu and were not disappointed. Thank you, Seyyida, for giving us the best possible Zanzibar send off. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope we are privileged enough to return!

"Lovely stay at the Seyyida"

I have stayed twice now at the Seyyida in the Stone Town quarter of Zanzibar and had excellent experiences both times. The location couldn't be more convenient, a few minutes walk from the ferry, but off the busy main road, set back enough on one of those winding narrow pedestrianized streets that are so characteristic of the old town - quiet and peaceful. The interior of the building itself is gorgeous and the rooms beautifully decorated; the small cozy roof-top terrace restaurant has a stunning view over the harbour, really special. Nice fresh fruit for breakfast, and a good coconut vegetable curry for dinner - delicious. The staff are very helpful and service was top-notch both times. I really can't think of a way to improve the experience.
