"All The Comforts of HOME"
So wonderful to be back the second time. The staff at Derwent House were absolutely fabulous and made our stay feel like we were with friends and family. This really feels like coming home. The spacious and quiet room had a very comfortable bed and the softest bed linens. My husband and I had no problems drifting off to sleep at night given the luxurious feel of our bed. WiFi is very good and the loaner mobile phone was great for our guided walks around Cape Town. The incredible abundance of items for breakfast (hot, cold, a la carte) plus the afternoon treats and home made snacks were delightful. I can't say enough about the exceptional staff who genuinely took such great care of us. Luca, not only did you ensure that every aspect of our stay was taken care of but you make the best G & T's! Amalga and Xolani, your warm smiles and welcoming recommendations enhanced our stay. The location is fantastic in a quiet neighborhood yet walking distance to Kloof St. shops and good restaurants. It was nice to be central enough to hike up Table Mountain or go to the breathtaking vinelands. The sunset cruise at the V & A Waterfront is a must. Every night after a busy day of sightseeing it was heart warming to return "home" to peaceful and quiet Derwent House. Special thanks to Armin and Anahid for welcoming us back home like family and for putting together the lovely Easter celebrations to accommodate us. Efharisto for the beautiful memories!
The staff is AMAZING! Especially Amalga & Bukho. They both went out of their way to make sure my trip to Cape Town was fantastic. I felt like I was coming home every night. I spent 5 days at the Derwent House and actually had reservations at another place closer to the beach, but after staying there for the 1st half of my trip. I quickly cancelled the beach hotel and decided to come back here on my way back through Cape Town. When I arrived back after 6 weeks, everyone greeted me and asked about the trip. I felt extremely welcome. The owners, are delightful and kindly greeted me and welcomed me back. Thank you to everyone at the Derwent House, and I have already been telling friends to book into the Derwent House. Karen O'Connor
"If there is a heaven on earth - it is this hotel. Probably one of the best Boutique Hotels not only in South Africa."
We have just completed our second stay at the Derwent House in Cape Town, SA. If there is a heaven on earth - it is this hotel. Probably one of the best Boutique Hotels not only in South Africa. The location is ideal in a lovely neighborhood, right below Table Mountain plus amazing restaurants in walking distance just down the road. We felt very safe as there is a guard outside every night. Easy access to all of Cape Town with Uber, helped by the fully-loaded smart phone that the hotel provides in each room. That is a real bonus! Beautiful rooms helt in a stylish design decor with a personal note (very important: the beds are excellent), well designed bathrooms, private pool and heated jacuzzi . The beautifully lounge and breakfast area, decorated with some amazing ethnic-looking touches are close to the rooms and provide a home away from home atmosphere. The service, the friendliness, quality of food are all outstanding! The choice at breakfast was wonderful. In the afternoon we enjoyed freshly-baked cakes and the complimentary espresso and other coffee. The wine list was equally impressive and the honor bar fantastic. Much appreciated! In summary the staff in Derwent House are just amazing and the facilities are exactly what you would expect in a 5* hotel. Having traveled extensively, We are used to staying in beautiful properties around the world. What makes the Derwent House EXCEPTIONAL is it's staff. They make you feel special, nothing you ask for seems to be too much trouble and always ready to go an extra mile to make your stay unforgettable. Thank you Luca (the manager) and Amalga, we will be back in the very near future! The Derwent House has a unique character and distinguishes itself from other hotels. There is simply no better Hotel in Cape Town. Don't bother considering to stay anywhere else - just book it! Petra R. Seeheim Germany
"all your money's worth"
I travel solo, and becoz i cannot book the smaller room so I end up at room number 1. for one person, the price is quite costly. but once i saw the room, i was stunned. it looked better than the pictures, it is quite a dream come true. huge windows and a walkout balcony where you could see the table mountain all time any time of the day. to wake up and look out of the window to see the cloud blanket over table mountain is a fabulous travelling experience. The whole property is neat clean and good taste. the breakfast is really good, make sure you reserve at least one hour every morning to enjoy it. ( it missed one time and regret it) During my stay there was drought problem, and i worried that the pool would be closed. But luckily the hotel maintained it by covering it with materials to prevent evaporation. so i can still take a dip everyday after the sightseeing. the location of the hotel is nice, though a bit far away from city center, but is very quiet and feel safe, and walkable to a number of nice restaurants. the host Anahid Harrison greet everyone and we have nice chat in the morning. Sometimes bnb can be cozy but not well managed, but Anahid is able to maintain very high standard for both. so you get the human touch and the five star quality. I remember one evening i came back for dinner and is chilling near the pool, i saw a starry sky and that is real romantic even for a solo traveller.
"Great Start to Our African Adventure"
We spent four nights at The Derwent House. It felt like home! From our airport pick up to check in to settling in our rooms, we were treated as if we were family! Top notch breakfasts, lovely guests, comfortable beds, spotless, and someone was always there to greet us no matter what time of day or night. They arranged tours, pick ups, called taxis and gave good advice! I was happy we picked Derwent House for our first African stop!
