Rimu Lodge is located just outside of Hokitika and it is worth the short drive out. The lodge is cosy and homely and is the perfect stay for couples. We were greeted by our host Sue Ellen who is so lovely and provides all guests with lovely little touches like complimentary drinks, chocolates and turn-down service. She also makes, hands down the best french toast I've ever had! The lodge has a spacious guest lounge area and large sized bedrooms. We stayed in one of the rooms on the bottom level, which has amazing views and direct access to the deck. Highly recommend Rimu Lodge to anyone looking for accomodation in Hokitika.
Stayed here one night on our way along the West coast. Great B&B. Warm greeting from new owner, Sue Ellen. The lodge is elegant and stylish with magnificent views over the Kaniere river. We were in a top floor room with the same view which was spacious and thoughtfully furnished (including 2 luggage racks which I wish more owners would provide). Nice little touches like turn down , chocolates and free soft drinks in the minibar. Comfortable, large bed and good shower. Breakfast was great as well. Sue -Ellen has a background in customer service and it shows. Lovely stay and highly recommended.
Beautiful B and B, in a stunning location with a delightful host Sue Ellen. Situated just outside Hokita, approx 5 k, the property overlooks the river and southern Alps...on a clear day. The house itself is lovely and comfortable with huge guest lounge with complimentary port and whisky, a lovely touch. We had one of the 2 ground floor bedrooms which open up onto the decking and the awesome views, the room was bright and airy and again lovely touches such as free soft drinks, juices and water.....plus a chocolate a piece on our pillow when we returned from dinner. The breakfast was also superb, and lots of effort was made to accommodate my coeliac wife. It was spotlessly clean and is up there with the best places we have stayed....ever, let alone on our current 9 week tour of Oz and NZ. Thank you and good luck Ps Monty the dog is also a charmer
"Comfortable lodge in stunning location "
My friend and I stayed at this well appointed lodge where all our needs were catered for by the amiable owner and staff - bath robes, complementary port, whisky, soft drinks & chocolate to make us feel at home. Our room was well appointed and had a stunning view of the valley. Our day started with a beautiful breakfast bar and cooked breakfast . Highly recommended.
"Beautiful lodge with friendly welcome"
Although the lodge is a few minutes from the centre of Hokitika this shouldn't really be an issue as you'll almost certainly have a car. The views from the deck are awesome and if the weather is good you can sit outside and admire the view. The accommodation is immaculate and the breakfasts are excellent. Sue Ellen is an excellent host - nothing is too much trouble.
