We both enjoyed our three night stay in a bush chalet studio. It was a small detached house set in the very peaceful grounds, nice and private, great accommodation with benefits of a Webber gas barbecue which we used on 2 evenings. There was a relaxed atmosphere and top quality furnishings. We enjoyed the set menu dinner on our first evening and joined guests from various parts of the world. Clare and Peter have created a rare oasis to stay and we would happily return here on another visit.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Resurgence. Everything was perfect: the room was clean, the hosts were very attentive and kind, all the meals were very well cooked and changing every day, the wine menu was really good. Having diner with all the guests was a real pleasure and we had the chance to meet a lot of interesting people. The lodge is really beautiful and all the facilities (hot pools, swimming pools and sauna) were well appreciated.
"A hidden gem"
We stayed at Resurgence for 3 nights to hike part of Abel Tasman and Mount Arthur - it is well located for both. The Lodge is located in a beautiful valley and our log cabin was private, luxurious (in Lodge terms) and basically a haven of peace and quiet. There’s a pool and hot tub both very welcome after a day hiking. It’s possible to eat at the Lodge but we chose the cabin to be self catering. It was well equipped including a gas bbq which was most welcome. The kitchen is stocked with basics and stuff for breakfast daily (all of a very good quality). We were very sad to leave and it we were ever back in the area we’d definitely stay again. Ps if you are going to drive to the start of Mount Arthur summit hike beware that the access road is unmade gravel with some steep sections. We had an SUV and were most glad of the 4 wheel drive! We really appreciated the way we were “left alone†to just relax at the cabin.
"Great views but overrated"
Its a fantastic location for one for exploring the National park. The lodge is a little out dated (almost 80's style) and for the money not great value for money in our view. if your a 'foodie' then self catering is the best option as the inclusive evening meal is very limited and served to a set time (wine is not included except for a glass pre dinner with canapés i.e. carrots with dip) with everything wrapped up by 9.30pm - as per a previous review it's a bit like a military operation. Breakfast - you need to stock up before you arrive as the supplies provided are very limited. Breakfast up at the lodge is (we felt) almost discouraged - 'as they get very busy'
"A wonderful stay"
My wife and I stayed at the Resurgence in early December for 4 nights. We had the benefit of some glorious cloudless skies which certainly enhanced our visit, but have no doubt this is a magical place and Abel Tasman is a beautiful national park which is within easy reach. We stayed in one of the lodges and found it to be of the highest standard. Our hosts were very welcoming and we liked the flexible options of eating in, eating out and using the bbq. We did all three. The resurgence is certainly not cheap but you will treasure some wonderful memories long after you have forgotten the price.
