"Good location but needs a facelift"

   08-12-2016
The location is very good being on the lake side with a 10 minute stroll along the promenade to the small town of Te Anau. It caters for large coach parties and has a steady turnaround. It's a bit 1970s in colour and design and the rooms are a little worn out. It's a bit of a struggle to open the room doors. No safe or air conditioning. The wifi is good. The bath is really only fit for very short people or.children. The bed is comfortable. There is a view of the lake from the rooms but only over the roof of the kitchen and restaurant. Breakfast is ok. People eating in the restaurant said food was good. There is a guest laundry.

"Private Corporate Airline Crew"

   07-11-2016
Lovely location over looking lake, Comfortable clean rooms, Delicious Meals. All staff fantastic and welcoming. Perfect for relaxing time in the most beautiful place. As apart of Crew, we spend a number of overnights during our Tour Season with our International Guests in this area. I strongly recommend a visit with Nick and Staff at Kingsgate .

"Great value "

   31-10-2016
We stopped for one night on the way back from Milford Sound. The lovely young lady on reception gave us a free update to a larger room. Considering the hotel was so busy we were very grateful. Super room, massive bed and shower that almost took my skin off! We didn't make use of the restaurant for breakfast, but we did note what an amazing view it has over the lake. All at a very reasonable price.

"Perfect location. Great brekky!"

   24-10-2016
Although the property isn't very new, the place has been very well looked after. The staff were lovely to say the least. Buffet brekky was awesome. Room was cozy with comfortable beds.Absolute value for money with brekky included, especially when you want to save up time and money for activities like milford sound and glow worms etc.. Book the rooms on the level above with mountain views.

"Dated but Cozy and in Good Location"

   18-09-2016
We found it quite convenient staying 3 nights in the little town of Te Anau (instead of Queenstown) when exploring Milford & Doubtful Sounds. Kingsgate hotel although dated was nicely located across the beautiful lake. Enjoyed strolling along the promenade leading to the nearby downtown. The hotel seemed to be popular with tour groups but it didn't deter the service. Our room on the second floor was small and basic but cozy with view of the lovely garden. Didn't have issues with cleanliness, water pressure, service, etc. as mentioned in the negative reviews here. Convenient parking. The new year's eve buffet was decent (year end a few years back).
