"Delightful boutique hotel"
I reckon we've stayed in some pretty good boutique hotels over the years - and this one joins the list. Originally a royal residence, this small hotel is set in lovely gardens on the edge of Luang Prabang and is very solidly built. Rooms are a decent size and have been tastefully refurbished. Balconies are spacious, comfortable and private. Restaurant is by the pool and very relaxing. Food is good and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely stay and would certainly return.
"Great location, lovely property, helpful & pleasant staff, poor WiFi"
If the WiFi connection wasn't so erratic, I would have rated the property "Very Good". Additionally, housekeeping didn't abide by its conservation rules and we often had our towels, which were left hanging on the hooks in the bathrooms, removed for laundering. Hope they didnt change our bedlinen daily. However, the property was lovely - cosy and staff extremely pleasant and friendly. We had bought some fruit from the local market and the kitchen staff helped us to cut them up for our consumption. The balcony had chairs that were broad and high backed, allowing one to rest quite comfortably for a read. Its breakfast spread was not huge but had a good selection of local food, bread, eggs, fruit, juices and cereal. The bathroom sink and toilet seat are rather low, so much taller users with weak backs or knees would have great difficulty adjusting. Location-wise, it's a short walk to the start of the night market (and also to the UXO museum) and therefore is not affected by the noisy streets or tourist traffic.
"Pleasent Retreat near to old town"
The Maison Souvannaphoum Hotel is a Banyan Tree/Angsana Property so I was pretty confident that it was going to be a nice hotel. It did not disappoint. The hotel is on the opposite side of town but not too far removed from the edge of the old town. It's location brings some advantages in that they are able to have a nice pool, it remains a little quieter and still with much of the charm one would expect of Luang Prabang. The staff was incredibly friendly and go to great efforts to ensure that guests are happy. There is a nice buffet breakfast with eggs to order, spa attached to the hotel and the grounds are in immaculate shape. The only downfall would be that for those who want to stay right in the old town, you will need about a 1km walk, but there are bicycles available and part of the charm of Luang Prabang is wandering aimlessly around town. Pros: staff, grounds, breakfast, spacious room Cons: hotel is a little walk from town and room is a little dark Would certainly stay here again and be excited about the trip!
"An oasis in Luang Prabang "
We arrived at this charming hotel to attentive, friendly staff that welcomed us like family. The hotel is located 5 min from centre of town but this is the charm of the place just far enough away to be a hidden gem. The staff went went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Were upgraded to another suite room which was vey spacious. The room was very clean and well maintained. The hotel is small but that is what makes it special. The small details make it a hotel to stay at while in Luang Prabang. The staff were very helpful in organising excursions and always took the time to welcome you back or ask how the day had been. This shows care for customers and a genuine interest in service to make your stay an experience that you will not forget. The breakfast was excellent with a good selection. We ate in the restaurant one night and the stuffed bamboo was delicious. The hotel had a spa in which we used a couple of times. The staff were very professional and provided a relaxing and stress free experience. I would like yo say thank you to all the staff at this hotel as they made our holiday in Laos memorable and definitely wanting us to return. If you are thinking of staying in Luang Prabang I would not be staying at any other hotel. I will be back.
"Friendly staff and great location hotel"
We had a very pleasant stay at this little esteem boutique hotel which is strategically located in town, 5mins walk to the night market and close to the Mekong river. The staffs were all very friendly and amiable. I would like to praise one of the staff there, Bounlieng (Hope I got his name right) who really helped us with some miscommunication on the river cruise that was booked in advance. He really extended his help and was apologetic on the confusion which was not his fault in the first place. Anyways, we were totally appreciative of his kind gesture in helping out at the end. The stay was perfect and the country is lovely. Quiet, serene, not crowded with tourist, laid back lifestyle of the friendly people here and even the tuk tuk drivers are not persistent if we decline their rides (unlike some other countries). I would truly recommend this hotel to friends who aspire to visit this beautiful place. The price of the hotel may be steep but you pay for the quality you get!
