Zoals Pioneer Suite, ruimer (73m2).
"best way to celebrate the New Year in Laos"
We began our Luang Prabang adventures by staying at the Luang Say Residence, after arriving from Vientiane. Situated away from the main town area, Luang Say was a peaceful luxurious hotel with a colonial feel & architecture. The team of staff were very friendly and helpful, and their warmth made us feel extremely welcomed, and comfortable. As part of their New Year's eve program, all hotel guests were invited to join in the NYE celebration by the Pool, with rounds of complementary cocktails and yummy bites. This was followed by a traditional dance performance, and also Baci ceremony which celebrate important events and occasions, which in our case here, was beginning of a new year, Both of us ended up with many strings and feeling really blessed :) We ended of the night with a sumptuous dinner prepared by the La Belle Epoque. Speaking of La Belle Epoque, their breakfast selection was indeed one of the best we had in Laos. Freshly baked breads, fruit platter, and fresh juices that were so good. Just inform the staff what you want to eat from the breakfast menu, sit back and relax. To our delights, there were also rabbits running around in the compounds and it became our daily game to try and spot the bunnies. Overall, a delightful stay for us in the beautiful city of Luang Prabang!
"An Oasis. I'm never leaving! "
Calm. Beauty. Service. Class. Each of the plantation styled rooms are more like a suite. Four poster bed. Sitting area with window seat. Porch for morning coffee or afternoon tea. Separate toilet. Two sinks. Open rain shower. Views of garden filled with palm and bamboo. And flowers. A lot of thought had gone into this lush spot. Best of all is the service of the team who are eager to help. And to learn. Kudos to the General Manager and staff at Luang Say. I hope I will be back. Until then, I will recommend.
This hotel managed to pull off the impossible in Asia--fantastic service + comfortable bed + delicious food (especially the comfortable bed--these are nearly impossible to find in Asia!) Service was outstanding at the restaurant, though a bit slow during my one day at the pool. And many of the staff, who come from villages well outside the city, were not only polite, but also friendly and curious and eager to learn more about me. The bed in my room was hands down the most comfortable bed I've slept in in Asia. This alone makes them deserving of praise. Finally, the food was excellent. So good, in fact, that I ate all but one meal there. I'd also point out that they somehow managed to serve a bread basket with a warm, toasted baguette and a proper, flaky croissant both mornings (another first in Asia!). And while they didn't serve the world's best cappuccino, I was thrilled they actually had an espresso machine! The only downside is cost. This is not a cheap property, and the food is pricey, even by western standards. But if you aren't fussed about price, I could not recommend this beautiful property more highly.
"PIGGY BACK TO JACKIE'S REVIEW"
I, together with my wife, Doris, were on the same TAUCK TOUR with Jackie's group of eight (Her previous reviewe several days ago) and experienced everything that Jackie expressed. The LUANG SAY RESIDENCE is superior; the property, the food, and the staff are "out of this world". I would be remiss if I failed to mention two very special staff members, Manon at the reception desk and Noy, the bartender; both are two lasting friends. Noy makes the best Lemon Sour...try one. I urge visitors to Laos to to be sure to include the RESIDENCE. 1
We accounted our money on 23rd December at night, in our room at the Luang Say Residence, when we were packing our luggage. Early in the morning, at 6:15 on 24th December, we left the room to attend at Monks Ceremony and left the room key at reception desk. When we came back to the hotel, at 6:45, there was no one on the front desk. We asked a waiter, in the restaurant, to keep our room key. We finished to pack our luggage, had breakfast and then checked out the hotel at 8:30. When we arrived in the next hotel, in Cambodia, we realized that someone had stolen us US$800, [8 notes of US$100,] and EU$150, [3 notes of EU$50,]. The person was clever enough to take just some of the big notes and just around half of our money. The money was in a moneybag on the table in the room, and it stayed out of the locker only in the morning of 24th Dec. We called and sent emails to the hotel, as we imagined that the hotel has CCTV (actually, we think that there is at least one in front of our room, on the top at the stair) and it is a pity that there isn't electronic key (which, we believe, it could register if someone go into the room by the door). The hotel manager told that the investigation done concluded that the receptionist was in the toilet, the housekeeping was cleaning the front office and public areas, and they have not found any clues that the incident had occurred at the hotel.
