"Charming, if a little tired, hotel"

This hotel is a nice spot of green and calm in an otherwise bustling town. We had none of the issues that another reviewer had with noise (and we stayed for five nights). It was peaceful the entire time. The hotel is well-appointed and clean, our suite was large and comfortable, and the entire staff is responsive, helpful and friendly. The rooms all seem to face the central courtyard, garden and pool area, which is quite lovely. (The area out back is a swampy moat, but the walls are high enough so that you don't have to look out on it if you don't want to.) The breakfast buffet is solid, with a decent variety of hot and cold Eastern and Western fare (although surprisingly, no sign of the Lao breakfast staple, noodle soup). By the second morning, the waiter had our coffee order memorized and was steaming the milk before we even sat down. Overall, we had a very good experience. The reason I don't give the hotel an "excellent" rating is simply that it feels a little past its prime. We couldn't use the AC units due to a strong mold/mildew smell, and much of the information provided in the room is out of date. (Most of the spa services listed are no longer available, for example. They will arrange for you to go to a different spa, but with so few rooms, management should make it a priority to update the information it provides in the in-room book.) With the new World Trade Center going up right next door, I hope that Green Park will do a little updating. This is a good hotel that could be great with a little effort.

"Oasis of calm in a busy city"

This hotel is not in the centre of town but has a shuttle bus that takes you close to the night markets and restaurants. It is a calm place in the middle of a busy city. The common areas are great for a night cap after dinner in town; breakfast is great too. The rooms are perfectly functional with views of the inner courtyard. You can hear the neighbours as all balconies are interlinked. Some guests still violate the non-smoking rules. We had to change rooms on arrival as previous guests have smoked in that room. The hotel staff is very helpful and accommodating, however. They will give you a different room if you ask for one.

"Charming hotel"

Very nice hotel, located a few minutes from town. The hotel has a shuttle that makes it convenient to go to town. The room was lovely, the pool very nice. The breakfast buffet was excellent with Laotian food, eggs prepared upon order and choice of cappuccino, espresso and various teas. Very nice. Thank you for your hospitality.

"No longer quiet nor serene..."

If you're thinking of booking Green Park because the other reviews say it's quiet, read my review first before booking here. Although it is ideal if you want a nightclub next door playing loud music until past 22:30 potentially each night. My family and I were booked in from December 6-10. A booking I had made after previously booking (and subsequently cancelling that booking to stay at Green Park) to stay at the Dharva in the city centre, thinking that Green Park would be quiet as it was away from the city centre and an added bonus that they had pool facilities. Biggest regret of our trip to Vientiane. Arriving on a Tuesday evening, as we pulled up to the driveway there was loud music blaring from the site next door. Imagine an outdoor rave directly next door to your hotel you booked expecting peace and quiet. Of the 4 nights, this high energy dance music played loudly with constant base for 3 of the 4 nights staying at Green Park. When I asked the staff on the 2nd night how many nights that music was going to be carrying on for, he said he didn't know. When it was quiet the 3rd night we were relieved only to find that Friday night the music is thumping away again. So the issue with the loud rave music is one issue. We had several following. The hotel offers a shuttle bus into the city centre. On the day after we arrived, we caught the 10am shuttle bus asking the staff member at reception to book us in for a pick up from the drop off point at 14:15. We were there from 14:08 and waited until 14:30 with no pick up in sight. We then had to get a tuktuk back to the hotel which cost 50,000 KIP. I decided this was human error and told the staff that no one picked us up which she tried to make seem like she would ask someone else about it. I decided to let it go and not let it ruin my time which is very unlike me. After not being collected, we returned to our room where I called down to reception to ask that they call Hard Rock to ensure that they were open. The person on the phone said, "let me check and I will call you back." I got a call back from reception to advise Hard Rock Cafe was open 11am-1am. Around 18:00, we arrived at reception to request a taxi to Hard Rock. 50,000KIP we were told it cost. Only to be driven to Hard Rock and all the lights were off and the entire place closed. So we ended up having to pay 100,000 KIP in total to get the driver to take us back to the hotel. The next night I asked reception to call again to make sure that Hard Rock was open so we could go for dinner. Upon receiving a call back from reception, they informed that Hard Rock was still closed until the end of the month for renovations. Question: How did 2 different staff members manning the front desk get such opposing information 24 hours apart from each other? After finding Hard Rock closed the first night, the staff on the front desk offered for the shuttle bus to take us to another restaurant in the city centre. Which was a very nice gesture. He told me to let him call to make sure Pimenton was open (which they were) and even told me that the restaurant was near a monument. But even having that information and offering for the driver to drop us directly at the restaurant rather than the usual drop off point, the driver then still didn't know where he was going or where to drop us. It was lucky that it was a place we had walked pass so we could give him directions. Which proved to be more difficult than it sounded as the driver barely spoke any English. Upon getting back from a closed Hard Rock, I asked to speak with the manager to be told that the manager was not in until 9am the following morning. Having a tour at 8:30am, we left the hotel early arriving back with no follow up or note that they were aware that we were unhappy about: 1. The outdoor nightclub operating next door. We were not notified of the festival and I would have liked to have been given the opportunity to make alternate accommodation arrangements as I do not believe I should have to endure a rave blaring and ruining my serene expectations I had of Green Park. 2. Staff failed to adequately arrange a simple pick up that we requested of shuttle bus. 3. Providing incorrect information regarding Hard Rock open times costing us 100,000 KIP in return taxi. The rooms are a good size and clean. Mosquito nets over the beds are a little annoying and useless for an additional bed. The breakfast was satisfactory and most staff friendly and are trying their best. But I would definitely not be staying here again in case on the off chance that there is some sort of music festival next door. You can also hear your neighbour very clearly coming and going from their room, especially if they are prone to door slamming and being rather heavy handed which luckily I did not experience until the last night. But in terms of providing a product that they seem to be selling, there is a definite gap and lack of attention to detail in their customer service. My expectations would have been that if there are interruptions to your guests enjoyment of their chosen accommodation that there was a definitive due diligence to be self informed to know exactly how many days the excess noise would carry on for. Not respond, "I think.... but I'm not sure..." very disappointing.

"Peaceful but a little tired hotel"

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel and I must agree it is a nice hotel but seems a little tired. The staff are extremely helpful and very friendly but there doesn't seem to be enough staff around the hotel especially around the pool area. The garden is beautiful but the pool had some leaves floating and looked as if it wasn't cleaned for a while. The room was nice, location is really good and it is also possible to use the shuttle bus the hotel is providing. On bookings.com this hotel is sold with a comment of "very good breakfast' It was ok. There was a choice of fruit, pastries and cooked dishes but all of these didn't seem to be of great quality so cant see what the fuss is about. I would recommend this hotel as there isn't really a big choice of nice hotels in the area and it was really peaceful so we were able to relax.
