"Fantastic room with an amazing view!!"

Stayed at Tunabay with teenagers for 8 nights. Had interconnecting rooms, 1 right on the beach with an amazing view. Reef right off the beach was wonderful for snorkelling - turtles, thousands of fish, rays..... The staff were very friendly - Jimmy was so friendly and organised an amazing chocolate birthday cake for us. We took a snorkelling trip to Rawa island through Tunabay and can recommend it 100%. I do not know our guides name but he got in the water with us and showed us around - sharks, turtles, sea snakes, moray eels and so so much more.....a fantastic trip. The food in Tunabay restaurant was wonderful - the chicken satay and mango lassies are sorely missed now that we are back in the UK.

"Nice resort but somewhat expensive"

Well managed resort that could benefit from upgrading the sun lounges. Overall good experience but we stayed a bit too long. 4 days is probably enough Positives: Everything around the booking and logistics worked out very well, something that is not always the case in Malaysia. Nice resort that is well managed Great snorkling at reef right by the beach Friendly and helpful staff Negatives: Highly priced for the quality of the rooms Beds very hard Was served a chicken filet that was not properly cooked Unfinished pier next to resort which brings down the paradise island experience Keep in mind: Big difference in location of the bungalows. Go for beachfront chalet. Avoid back end by the generator. Little to do. Children get board after 3-4 days.

"Beautiful view"

Stayed her for 4 nights while completing an Advanced Scuba Diving certificate at the adjacent Universal Divers. Chalet was comfortable and clean, and free of mosquitos at night. View from the beach and restaurant is awesome. Food at the restaurant was acceptable, albeit a little higher than other nearby restaurants. The service during lunch and dinner was impeccable, friendly, and in a timely manner. Breakfast buffet was good, with a happy squirrel Tuna Bay hand feeds to accompany the atmosphere each morning. There were a few families with kids staying at the same time. They mostly kept to themselves, but would be nice if they were provided a kids club or something to help keep them entertained and not yelling/fighting on the beach. The only real let down of the place is the chalets join to another, and the walls are super thin. On three of the four nights we were woken late at night and early in the morning by what seemed like arguments, but may have just been the tone of their accents. I guess some tourists are just loud in general so is kinda hard for Tuna Bay to fix especially if they are giving big tips. One of the nights one neighbor came home too drunk and could hear them throwing up in the toilet, and then getting scoled by daddy in the morning. It really spoils the romance of sleeping on an exotic island. All in all, it is the best place to stay on the Island and wouldn't recommend any other resort. Stay away from Kecil island as it is dirty with litter and over crowded.

"Get away from it all"

A wonderful place to get away from it all. Intermittent internet service only available in the restaurant / bar. Mobile phones usable most of the time. 45 minute small boat trip to avoid damaging coral. Diving & snorkelling, hiking for the active, boat trips, lounging on wooden sun loungers under palm trees for the less active, discussing relative merits of different varieties of coconut. Not a place for immobile people in view of need to climb in and out of small boats and climb steps on cliff / coastal paths. Western food dominates menu in restaurant, presumably to suit majority of customers, but I would have liked to have seen more local food, which is available on the more developed small island.

"Good but be wary of noisy chalets..."

We stayed at Tuna Bay for 6 nights in April. This is a lovely resort on a beautiful stretch of white sand, clear water and good snorkelling right off the beach. We opted for the best seaview chalet and were generally impressed with the accommodation - it was spotlessly clean, good aircon, decent shower room, fridge, lovely raised decking at the front with chairs and loungers and a great sea view. The furniture in the room was a bit lacking and the bed could have been comfier but generally all pretty good. The one big problem with the room became clear later that evening when we realised it had a connecting door to the chalet behind and we could literally hear every word and noise from our neighbours who could also no doubt hear us clearly too - not ideal for a romantic holiday away to paradise with your other half! The food in the restaurant was generally pretty good and the prices were not cheap but ok. We preferred to eat in the evening at Nia Cafe next door who prepared simple tasty local dishes on the beach at less than half the price. The staff were lovely, helpful and friendly. The resort is very family friendly and there were quite a few kids in the restaurant in the evening and the interconnecting nature of the chalets would no doubt be great for a family, they just probably shouldn't be occupied by couples...
