"Lobby restaurant "
We were walking through China Town in Bangkok and decided to eat at the little restaurant at this hotel lobby. The staff was extremely nice and the food was outstanding... the prices even better... great place!
"Amazing place !! Thanks to Bank "
We just reached!! Went to china Town area we entered to RedRose bar and it's amazing. Atmosphere is amazing with love band. But what made our experience extra ordinary is Mr. Bank and Mr. Tim. Really thank you for making our first day in Bangkok fabulous. We will come back and recommend it to all travelers
"We were so well taken care of"
We recently stayed at Shanghai Mansion and were delighted to stay there. The hotel is perfectly situated, in the heart on the Yaowarat Street; river and palace are right nearby. Overall, service was impeccable. The hotel food and beverage manager 'Timothy' made us a huge favor by contacting our equipment agents for us. One of the best staff we have ever encountered. There was a live music when we were staying. Great music! Nice Bar! We will definitely go back to this hotel If we decide to visit Bangkok again.
"Fab hotel in a good location"
Firstly the reception staff were very helpful on our arrival, we had missed a nights sleep due to the timing of our flight and felt extremely tired. We were supposed to wait 6 hours until the room as ready at 2pm but they had it ready by 10am so we could have a nap and freshen up. The hotel has lounge which opens up directly on to the streets of china town making it easy to come and go as you please and soak up the atmosphere. Nice food in the restaurant and good service. Breakfast was yum with a tasty full english cooked to order as well as a buffet. Our room was large with a massive bed and giant bath (as well as a walk-in shower). No real windows but you wouldn't want any as you would only see bricks. Only reason I am not giving 5 stars in due to the extremely loud air conditioning unit which we managed to sleep through but if you were a light sleeper I would imagine this could be a problem. It was probably just our room though (can't remember the number) it was on the third floor. Overall a nice hotel in a great location so you can soak up the atmosphere in china town as well as easy access in to the main city.
"This little hotel could be EXCEPTIONAL"
I'm probably going to come across overly critical, but the Hotel, it's website and the reviews set a rather high expectation of this hotel. In some instances I was disappointed and in some instances I was neutral. Not once was I blows away. Apart from the great cocktails. I have been to BKK a hand full of times now and have always stayed in the mainstream hotels around Silom and Sukhumvit. On this business trip, I decided to tack on a personal stay to immerse myself in street food culture and opted for a less main stream hotel in Chinatown. What I got was exactly what I wanted. Street food overload, but that is not what this review is about. The Location: The Hotel is located in the heart of Chinatown. A frantically bustling and vibey location. It is relatively close to attractions like MBK and Rajadamnern Kickboxing stadium. The location is good and everything is pretty accessible from here via THB100 trip. The Hotel itself kind-of nestles away from plain sight and my initial fears about having made a decision which would see me "slum" was quickly overturned by the beautiful entrance, groovy jazz terrace and bar and the mystically dark reception. all the communal areas are Shanghai 1930's suave as described on the website. The Service: Staff are fairly attentive. English is more forced than the big hotel chains and getting to the bottom of requests takes a little longer than at the big hotels. The reception area is fairly basic and there is no concierge/information person per se. There is a chap with a leisure book but getting to a recommendation is hard. If I had not been in BKK before, I would have battled to get to exactly where I wanted to go. The "free" tuk tuk runs 3 times a day to 3 different locations. make sure you ask day 1 of your stay, otherwise you'll pay for all your transfers. Bar staff were good. GREAT cocktails in the terrace lounge. The Rooms: The room was decadent. In a 1930s kind of way. I loved it but there are a couple of drawbacks. There is no information guide and its hard to figure out who to call for what. An issue I had here was that I was informed and the website states a butler service, but that does not manifest in any way shape or form. Very disappointing as I was quite looking forward to some personal recommendations and attentiveness. The room furniture smelt of smoke, although I had booked a non smoking room. There were coffee making facilities, but as part of a Mu Dan Suite, it lists a coffee and Tea maker. If by that they mean a teapot then check, but otherwise, no. The bath was sublime and the bed was hard but okay. The only REAL issue I had with the room is that it is dark. There are tiny windows that back onto another building and are covered by gorgeous curtains, but there is ZERO natural light in the room, which makes you not want to spend time in it, which is a pity. Don't get too excited about the free minibar. It has 1 beer, 2 soft drinks, an Oreos bar and a small packet of crisps every day. That's all up sub 500 baht. This should really not be a selling feature of the hotel, unless it's a stocked minibar. Simple leave it out. The food The food was my biggest disappointment. Whilst breakfast was okay, I was VERY excited as I wanted to sample the food in the exotic surrounds of the Red Rose restaurant. I expected this to be the gorgeous venue on the second floor, but that was shut. The terrace has an adjoining set of tables, which I believe is the place which serves the food. I ordered 3 dishes from the menu. None were of note. Delicious cocktails made up for it. It also states Jazz on the terrace everyday. Mondays don't appear to be the case. The Spa: I had a spa treatment included in every day of stay. I opted to pay the THB400 extra for the oil massage every day. The therapists and massages were fantastic and of good quality, but this is not a Spa as you'd come to expect in the big hotels. This is more a treatment room. A little bit disappointing as I was expecting something a bit more luxurious and calming. You're ushered into and out of the treatment room pretty quickly. Overall I believe that this little hotel could be exceptional with a little attention to detail. Communicate upfront what is and isn't included. Jack up the butler service as I was REALLY looking forward to a personal guided tour of the nearby locations (as stipulated on the website). Open up the level 2 Red Rose. Its a waste of a venue and could be REALLY special, jack up the reception staff knowledge and attention to detail, lastly add a bit of luxe to the spa. It would go a long way. Worth noting that in my 3 nights and 4 day at the hotel, not once did I see a hotel manager in action.
