"Affordable Luxury with Old World Elegance"
This was one of the prettiest hotels I have ever been in, but definitely not in a cookie cutter way. Beautiful brocades, velvets and elegant finishes created a modern hotel with old world charm. I chose the Ying Hua room with the oversize soaker tub! The service was excellent with very nice and attentive staff. They could not do enough to make sure that my stay was pleasant. I wrote down many of their names, but unfortunately I lost the paper along my travels. I do remember Ink's name - she was on of the extraordinary ones! I had the package with the breakfast included and it was nice with both East and West choices in the buffet, but you can also have a cooked to order breakfast as well. The watermelon juice was amazing! Also included with my package was a 60 minute reflexology massage. I was able to get in right after arrival and upgraded for a small amount to a swedish massage. So nice after a very long day of travel! I would definitely stay here again
"1 night "
Stopped here for only 1 night which was not long enough! Awesome place. Amazing. Design. Very quirky! Rooms were nice and dark for sleeping, well designed although on the more basic side. Helpful staff. You could leave bags. Food in the restaurant was good. Definitely recommended!
"A unique experience"
The hotel, located in the centre of Chinatown, was beautifully decorated emanating its namesake of "Shanghai", and was an experience in itself just to visit. The artwork, decor, furniture, soft furnishings offered a wonderful "Shanghai" experience and one that my family and I really enjoyed. Some of the rooms offered a better view than others (our room had no view at all -the window were sealed and obscured but offered "coloured" <the glass was painted in various colours> light, where our friend's had a view of the front street which I personally thought was way more interesting). The food was really nice and we had a free meal or massage (we could choose) in with price. Breakfast was a buffet style for cereal, cheese, bread, yoghurt plus you ordered the cooked elements (eggs, pastries, bacon, sausages etc). The room was beautiful and the service was good. The lady in the bar downstairs was amazing with her service - fast, attentive, and pleasant in her attitude. Also, the reception were very pleasant and keen to ensure your stay was good.
"Fantastic amenities & Staff, great Chinatown location"
We just LOVED staying here, although it was my only visit to Bangkok so I can't compare to other places. I thought for the value this felt like a crazy luxury hotel. Our Ying Hua room was sumptuously decorated, with fantastic shower and huge in-room tub I am ashamed I didn't use. It had a frosted window to outside (no view) and a window open to the indoor atrium (the place used to be a Chinese opera house). Hotel was beautiful everywhere - the rooms and common areas, including gratuitous chaise lounges, free snack bowls, and a fish pond. The staff was unparalleled throughout - the ladies at the welcome desk were the most charming and lovely folks. We got a SUPERB massage on site (with guest discount) - definitely pricier than the Bangkok going rate, but my god were these therapists talented. The lobby bar is a fun place, with some jazzy crooning nightly, an almost funny contrast to the street sounds and smells of Chinatown (which it's open to). Best was the location - we could walk out and tumble right into a cacophony of Chinatown street food booths and hustle (one drawback is that on busy nights - eg, weekend, festivals - Yaowarat St can be a tough place to catch a cab, you might have to walk a few streets over). It's definitely worth trying to figure out why everyone is waiting for sweet stuffed toast bread down the block (across the street - you'll see the lines) - that is some tasty hectic business. All in all, not exactly a relaxing neighb to stay in the city, but vibrant and tasty and fun. We found only one unforced error: the music in the hotel (and specifically, and loudly, in the breakfast area) was hilariously bad soft jazz/adult contempo/terrible musak that didn't match the classy vibe of the hotel. Definitely not something I'd dock a review for, but we did giggle at it every morning.
"adaptable to every culture"
i'd love this hotel, is in Chinatown, near markets and station. The accommodations are very cut and cozy. The breakfast is very good. The decoration is very nice and recriates Xangai 1930. have free wifi The staff are friendly.
