Over Felix River Kwai Resort

"Location great / Hotel poor"
We stayed for 2 nights and booked a Grand Deluxe River View room D209. The good thing, this hotel has a real nice location and the premise benefits from a real beautiful fauna & flora grown over many years. From now on the disaster starts: After an unfriendly check-in by the middle aged female Thai receptionist we are feeling the age and lack of renovation of the hotel already. The place on the day of our arrival was more or less empty. Entering the room, not bad looking, we experienced a noisy air-condition which was not adjustable, either cold or off. Bad smell when you enter the room. A big terrace overlooking the river, unfortunately has only an outworn wooden uncomfortable bench instead of comfy chairs or a table. Entering the bathroom a filthy bath tub with mold all over the place. Think about warm water, even after complaining at the receiption, not hot water for 2 days!!! Toilet paper replacement roll - forget it. Wifi access is slow and allows only single unit access. Evening we went for dinner on the river. Buffet food and wine, just disgusting. The freshly prepared Pad Tai Kung was totally sugared and not eatable. Breakfast was low average by quality. Staff otherwise was friendly but very inefficient. Upon checking out, staff was obviously not very impressed about our disastrous experience during our stay. We definitely can recommend a visit to Kanchanaburi, but never would stay at the Felix River Kwai resort again.
"Historical Trip to WW2 sites"
Hotel easy to find, well signposted. People very friendly on arrival, and hotel looked good. Room was nice although a bit dated in decor, could be due a bit of attention and tidying up, but comfortable. Breakfasts were good, and plentiful, bacon cooked to order so Ok for me. Had 1 evening meal in the restaurant, decided to have a steak, for a change from Thai food, and it was very good quality meat. God prices too. Hotel Manager, Norma, was excellent, gave some great advice for sightseeing and tourist destinations, eg Hellfire pass and museums. She was very helpful for all activities. We did the Light/Firework show and buffet, was good, wouldnt say it was worth the 750Bhat per person, but its a tourist thing, and being abuffet you could eat as much as you could. Would I stay there again - yes, but would negotiate a better deal
"Will be great when all rooms are refurbished"
Stayed for two nights as part of a group tour. Beautiful grounds and public spaces - can walk next to the river and walk across the river Kwai bridge into the small shopping/market area.. Rooms are in 3 storey blocks so you need to walk outside to get to main block with restaurant and bar but that didn't bother me. My room had a new bathroom which was very good - others had older bathrooms and were less happy with these. Also had a balcony overlooking gardens - great for starting the day watching the birds in the trees (I was on 3rd floor). Staff very helpful - some things did not work (think they may have a few issues with electrics/wifi etc.) for one or two of us and they attended to this straight away, changing to another room if needed. Food was fine. Overall, this place could be really good if they continue to update the rooms.
"River Kwai Paradise"
Had the pleasure of staying at this huge Resort for 5 days from 2 November. Food was awesome Staff awesome and so helpful Room was right on the Kwai River .Clean and tidy Great Pools 10 minute walkt to River Kwai Bridge. Wish I had the chance to have dinner at the Felix River Kwai Floating Restaurant And for under 600 AUD not a single complaint from Me And a big shout out to Norma who was always on hand with her friendly smile and local knowledge. I will be back very soon Kop Khun Kup Khun Good Matt
"Could be so much better"
We recently stayed in the Felix, on a visit to the Kanchanaburi (bridge over the river Kwai). whilst the hotel is very close to the bridge, we felt due to its size (it is very large), it lacked the personal touch, the rooms are nice, large and clean but in need of refurbishment, but with so fewer people staying id guess, this wont happen. The staff, whilst helpful in places in others didnt seem to care, breakfast was ok, with all the usual. On the plus side, it has a very large pool, and is a short wall from more or less everything.
