"very nice hotel near the famous bridge!"
We spent one night in this hotel during our round trip in Thailand. We really liked it a lot. The rooms were very tidy, what we appreciated so much was the colonial style of the decoration and the wooden floor, so much better than these dirty carpets in many hotels. Unfortunately one negative point: not enough lamps.
"Resort Hotel away from Everything "
This was our second visit to the Felix hotel. It sits right on the Kwai river with many rooms facing the river. We checked in on Monday-Friday and had the entire resort to ourselves. It has two swimming pools and beautiful tropical gardens throughout the resort. There isn’t a room with a bad view. The hotel is on the older side, but has lots of character, with dark wood floors contrasting white walls and terra-cotta tiles. The breakfast buffet was great with a variety of Thai and Western dishes. The massage spa will come to your room and is reasonably priced. It’s a short walk to the bridge and the railroad. You get to walk across the bridge on the train tracks into town. The staff is very helpful.
The room is nice but the bathroom was very bad. When taking a shower, it was obvious that the curtains were not cleaned and they were very dirty. There were a lot of problems with WI-FI and when we called the staff to come up, they took a long time before actually coming up to our room. Also when we arrived there, there were many complaints from the front desk about the payment, they were clearly trying to fool us about the money situation and wanted us to pay more. The pool at first glance is okay, but then you see that the floor of the pool is disgusting.
"This hotel is not what I would consider a 4 star"
To start our stay here we were given a two for one drink coupon for the riverside bar valid only for that day between 5-6 pm. We went to the bar at about 5:45 ordered our drink and waited after 10-15 minutes still no drink so asked one of the girls at the bar about our drink and then she told us they didn’t have any ice at the bar we waited another 15-20 minutes to finally get our drink. Next we go to put some valuables in the safe but it is locked so we call the desk to have someone come open the safe so we could use it. After a short wait someone came to open the safe and could not open the safe but did manage to set the alarm off so we had to leave the room so we didn’t have listen to the alarm until someone else could come to shut the alarm off and open the safe. We finally put our valuables in the safe. When we were ready to leave go to open the safe will not open have to get someone back to open safe again. The room is large and fairly nice but then I went into the bathroom years past needing to be renovated black mildew all around the tub and the shower curtain was covered in black mildew I felt like I needed to get a vaccination after getting out of the shower At breakfast we overhear someone from management talking to staff about complaints and would not take any responsibility for any of the complaints instead blaming all the people that complained saying they don’t understand Thailand. This is my 10th time to Thailand and I have stayed in far better hotels fo half the price also my wife is Thai so we do understand Thailand The appropriate rate for this hotel would be around 1200 baht Once on the resort area to get into town they have a shuttle van that they charge 180 baht each way for a 5 minute ride in a van that smells really bad you don’t want to have spend more than 5 minutes in. Now the swimming pool looks really nice at first glance the you look at the floor of the pool and it is disgusting. Our room overlooked the pool pump and filter building the pool water is pumped on to the roof and runs off the roof back into the pool like a water fall but on the roof they have wire cages over the water to keep pigeons out however they did not keep the pigeons out several times I would at least 20 pigeons swimming in it any many more on top of the cages. So unless you like swimming in pigeon fecis I would stay out of the pool. For about the same rate downtown there is a new beautiful hotel the Natee on the river back from the main road so is very quiet a 1 minute walk to the main road. Will end being cheaper because of the high cost of the shuttle van. The management should stay there for a night to learn how a hotel should be run. Instead of blaming there guests for there lack of management I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I would rate it at 3 stars at best and that is being generous. Our air conditioning barely cooled the room we talked to staff twice during our stay and they said they would fix it but never did. If you read thru all the reviews you will see a common theme about the disgusting bathrooms and pool. Since the management won’t take responsibility for anything and blame the guests for the problems at the hotel I wound not expect any improvement any time soon.
"Very nice spot for relax and explore the kanchanaburu region"
The resort is located on the riverbanks of mae nam khwae ( or kwai) close to the world famous bridge. Colonial style decorated rooms, a wounderful lush garden and very quiet, we realy enjoyed the 3 nights stay. We would like to mention especially the kindness of the guest relashionship manager khun norma. She is a great host and makes you feeling like home. We will come back for sure..
