"A Beautiful Resort with enough space to avoid everyone."

Not all Thai Islands are made equally and if the natural beauty of many of Thailand's southern islands have been commercially ruined, thankfully Ko Lanta remains a slice of paradise. The connection from Krabi Airport is made very easy by the Pimalai Resort. Collection is in an air-con people carrier (the deluxe version), then transfer on to speedboat (about 45 mins) to arrive at Ko Lanta. Get your sea legs ready for the 'total wipeout' style 'pier', at the other end. Thank fully you won't have to navigate this with your luggage,- that bit is taken care of. Orientation of the resort is given in the people carrier via a video, so this means check in is pretty quick, quiet and and straight forward - the intention is that as soon as you arrive you begin to relax and unwind from the off. The resort is stunning and laid out like a small village with meandering pathways winding through cultivated and manicured tropical gardens. There is a lower level and upper level with accommodation of varying levels - from private pools and hilltop villas. There are on site restaurants, yoga studio, spa, gym, tennis courts and running track - which is round the reservoir (the resort is eco and self sustaining). The beach is wonderfully huge and pretty empty. We were genuinely looked after during our stay, from the onsite nurse who tended to a rather bad case of upset stomach, to one afternoon being caught out in tropical downpour and waiting it out under a tree, one of the hotel staff appeared from no where with an umbrella in order that we could make it back to our room. Our luggage had been delayed by the airline and the resort manager personally collected it the following day. All exceptional service which was above and beyond our expectations but very much appreciated. We spent time at the beach and top infinity pool - which is a must at sunset and one of the most pleasing things about the resort is that there's enough room for everyone. Luckily everyone picked up on the vibe and were quiet and respectful of others. There's always the people that have no self awareness where ever you go in the world and when the Korean Girls turned up with a giant inflatable gold swan in order to prop up there selfie shoot, I found this funny and tragic in equal parts. I'm not overly convinced that the resort should allow them to walk out on to the roof for the extreme selfie but I'm sure that when someone falls and fractures their skull or worse they might be persuaded that it's not the best idea. Generally guests fall into either the honeymooners or middle-aged couples. Didn't seem like a family with kids kind of destination. There is a small village within walking distance either along the beach or by the main road at the back of the resort. Take the torch from the room if you're going out for dinner if you're taking either route. The restaurants in the village are great. I can recommend the rock and roll Pad Thai.. Awful name but great food! Last tip, there's an outdoor massage place on the beach… this is nothing to do with the Pimalai. It's ok.. it's basically a tourist massage. I asked for a thai massage and basically got a nice circulation rub down for about 50 minutes. By the time the masseur got to my head I had to make it stop - no one likes a 'dry shampoo'. I saw people walking away from there looking all 'zenned out' as though they'd had the experience of a lifetime.. guess I was fooled. Still it was cheap so no great loss. In summary the Pimalai is definitely worth visiting. A beautiful, perfect place geared up to help you relax and unwind. I'd love to go again.

"Very special place "

Besides for the obvious points that the resort is absolutely gorgeous, perfectly situated, and a slice of heaven, I will keep returning to this place because of how ecologically sound and locally sensitive the management is in running this place. The Pimalai grows its own greens for the restaurants right on the hotel grounds. Most of the support staff is directly from the island trained and educated by the owners. The resort avoids plastics where possible as well. The only bad luck I had is that I have now visited twice in early December and both times I had bad weather. Next time I visit it will be in January. PS check out the cool bar 'Why Not' on the same beach.

We had the best time at Pimalai. We were there for our honeymoon for 4 nights. Pools and beach are stunning. Service everywhere on the ground is and above and beyond. It was such a relaxing stay. We loved the same same restaurant right beside the resort and why not bar on the other side. We enjoyed breakfast at the resort. Used the stand up paddle boards on the beach which was fun. Yoga was fantastic, teacher was so nice and modified for beginners and people who have been practicing for a while. Heard about the boat/snorkel trip the day before we left and it wasn't offered on that day which was unfortunate. Heard from many people that it was a highlight and some did it more then once. Would have loved if when checking in they gave us a heads up about how amazing it was, or that it existed. Regardless we had an amazing time on the beach in the pools and around the resort. Rented scooters for a day and visited the national park and old town and ate at a fun and delicious restaurant called fresh recommended by the hotel. Spa was fantastic - would recommend it, best massages we had in Thailand on our 3 week trip. Was the best resort we visited in Thailand, and are very appreciative of the service. Thanks Pimalai for making our Honeymoon so special.

"The place to stay in Ko Lanta"

Stayed there a couple of days ago with my girlfriend in a stunning pool Villa. If you are looking for a memorable resort with amazing views and great dining option, look no further this is your place. Flawless service, amazing staff and Franck the GM is a great host. Had amazing sunset cocktails at they recently opened beach bar and restaurant - make the time to go there for happy hours. Highly recommended if you are looking for a true 5 star experience on the island! Thank you everyone!

"Excellent, even just for 1 night"

We only stayed for 1 night, but it was 100% worth it. When staying in the lower level, make sure to request a 2nd-floor room to ensure sea views. We found the food at the nearby Drunken Sailor much tastier (and 1/3 the cost) of the Rice N Spice on-site restaurant. Both pools were stunning and we highly recommend using the hotel's complimentary water sports - SUP, sailing, kayaking, etc. My only complaint is that the hotel's popular yoga class was full not only during our stay, but for the following 5 days. Overall, fantastic stay.
