"Beautiful hotel on a beautiful island"

   17-01-2017
We stayed in one of the pool villas up on the hillside. The room was lovely and the views are fantastic. The service at the hotel was very good. We went on the boat trip to Ko Ha, which was excellent. We had been diving at the same location the previous day but the snorkelling was equally good. Only an hour from the hotel and even though it was busy when we arrived (boats from Phuket etc), after 20-30 minutes we were the only boat there and it was beautiful to see in that serenity. We visited the Spa at the hotel on a few occasions, the treatments were excellent (pimalai signature and Thai massage) We dined at all 3 restaurants, which were all good. The setting at the beach restaurant was probably our favourite. Ko Lanta is a beautiful island as it is still relatively unspoiled and quiet. I would certainly recommend visiting and this hotel is excellent.

"Perfect Christmas in Paradise"

   15-01-2017
Stayed in Pavilion Suite right on the beach. Perfect for family with children staying in one room and parents having our own space. Everything about Pimalai was magical. The staff were so helpful, the food was magnificent and there were endless activities on site. We took 2 trips from Pimalai: - snorkelling on Christmas Day. Again fantastic w great guides hotel. - elephant riding. Unique brilliant experience. Would give Pimalai 100% recommendation.

"Honeymoon paradise "

   13-01-2017
We stayed in one of the pool villas as part of our Honeymoon, without a doubt the most amazing place we have ever stayed! Incredible villa, stunning views, gorgeous private beach. We are in Spice and Rice a couple of times, it is amazing Thai food - probably the best we ate in our 3 weeks travelling around Thailand. The one negative I would have...we had to leave!

"Relaxing stay"

   12-01-2017
We spent a week over New Year at the Pimalai. The resort is really very pretty, with rooms and villas set in lovely tropical gardens. It it a resort of two halves - literally, as it is split by a local public road . We were able to get around easily using the resort's buggy service, for which we never had a wait. Our rooms overlooking the garden (with a glimpse of the sea) were in excellent condition, totally clean, not in any way tired or faded and not lacking in space. There was a balcony with two chairs, plenty of storage and hanging space and the bathroom had a separate shower and toilet. Dining: breakfast in the Rice 'n Spice (lower) restaurant was a very good, fairly typical resort buffet. We didn't eat at the Seven Seas but did spend a happy hour (or two) there, where the sunset views are every bit as spectacular as the photos suggest and the cocktails are delicious. We enjoyed dinner a couple of times at the Rak Ralay on the beach - very casual, with a tasty cafe-style menu. The Pimalai team made a great effort for the New Year event at the beach restaurant, with a big buffet and in particular, fabulously fresh seafood. Mainly we ate outside the resort just for variety. The restaurants at Pimalai are indeed expensive compared to local restaurants, but it's hardly a reasonable or fair comparison. Price-wise we found the Rak Ralay comparable to similar establishments in the UK. What bumps up the bill are the drinks prices, but that's pretty typical of 5-star hotels too. We took one of the resort's boat trips to Koh Rok, where the beaches were pristine, the snorkelling good and the picnic a delicious BBQ cooked on the boat while we splashed about. A great trip and a bit of an adventure in the choppy seas and absolutely torrential rain which drenched us on the return leg! The service throughout the resort is charming and well-intentioned, though a bit hit and miss. Our luggage took around 25 mins to get to our room, because it was on a buggy with others being delivered to the rooms/villa furthest from reception first, yet we were only 50m from the lower reception. And we experienced a few misunderstandings on food/drinks orders due to the staff's lack of understanding of English (it could have been our fault, but other guests we spoke to had similar experiences). The beach activities are OK, but while there appeared to be a number of Laser dinghies available (only one, during our stay, was rigged up), there was a sole lonely Hobie Cat and both boats were often released to people who didn't appear to know much about sailing as they spent a lot of the time capsized (in very light winds). This meant long waits for a boat for my husband (a very experienced sailor). In my view, there are two absolute stand-out facilities at the Pimalai: the upper pool - huge, never crowded, with super-comfortable sun loungers and day beds and with world-class sunset views; and the Spa, stunningly located in small Thai salas set within the tropical gardens, which had some of the best treatments - massages, facials, body scrubs - we have ever had. All in all, the Pimalai provided a lovely way to see in 2017.

"Just amazing "

   11-01-2017
Stayed here at last min, so glad we did. Everything about this resort is faultless. I have stayed in hotels all around the world probably over three years solid in hotels all told, I have never stayed in a place as good as this. Check in faultless, and kindly upgraded free of charge to beach villa, what an amazing view. The beach is perfect quiet and stunning. The rooms are pristine, large and well equipped. Very clean, every little thought you might have has been thought of. For example, bottled water by the sink for brushing teeth, little pitcher of water by patio to rinse sand from feet, the list is endless. The resort itself is on two levels. Split with a road but transport between the two makes this almost irrelevant The lower beach level and upper pool villas. Each is a resort in itself with restaurants bars etc. You can move around where you like and little cars will pick you up and take you where you want. The food. We ate in Thai restaurant the first night, superb. Breakfast in the seven seas on upper level, it was immaculate, I thought a cooked egg was the same everywhere till I ate their eggs ! Ice cream delivered to your beach chairs, iced fresh water just turns up. You don't have to look for beach towels they are there on the beds waiting for you . The staff are the most polite and nicest I have met. I would not single out anyone as they all make the stay amazing and should all be congratulated. I looked hard to find anything that I would improve upon, whether it was litter( common in Thailand unfortunately ), a wall that needs painting, a crack in a tile, anything, I have to say I couldn't find anything. It is also nice to see the hotel involved in conservation ( not just lip service). It trains local staff. It should be a school for hotel staff training for every hotel. The only complaint I have is the great last minute deal we got to stay here wasn't available for longer or we would have stayed a few more days. Now the problem is where we go next in Thailand, I doubt anything will live up to this experience.
