"Beautiful resort but horrible service "

   21-02-2017
If you're looking for a picturesque hotel, stay here. The check in process is horrible. They are rude and do not accommodate. The rooms are beautiful, but styles. It's a bit difficult to get around cuz resort is so big but you can call for a car to take you there. Getting a car is a hassle. We had to wait around 40 minutes for one. Food was good. Resort is beautiful. But based on service, I would NOT stay here again. It's hard to get into town from here as well.

"Beautiful resort - plan to relax"

   21-02-2017
The resort grounds were absolutely beautiful. The huts are basic, but that's alright because you won't spend much time in them. The resort is expensive. If you are looking to save a little money, book your excursions in the town and not through the hotel. The spa is probably the best part. The employees are professional and the setting is amazing. The food is okay. We found the fish restaurant and the potato wedges to be the best. We did have an incident on our last day with monkeys hanging out our huts roof at night. We called the hotel and security was at our hut in 5 minutes and they offered to move our room if we were uncomfortable which I appreciated. Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

"Relaxing Paradise"

   21-02-2017
I stayed here with my sister for two nights in February 2017. This hotel was amazing.. such a great place to end our trip in Thailand. It is a boat ride away from the main town, so it's more secluded than other hotels but the beach front/property are beautiful. There are three restaurants and a spa on the property as well as a cute village behind the hotel where you can grab food/drinks if you don't feel like paying the hotel restaurants prices (which can be a little pricey), so there's no reason for you to really leave the resort area. Each room is it's own individual hut with a porch area which I thought was pretty unique and the rooms/bathrooms are clean. When we arrived, we got two of the most relaxing massages at the spa. It's not the most modern spa, but the staff was great and the views from the spa are unbelievable. I would say that the hotel seems to be more for couples/families vs. groups of friends. Also, beware of the monkeys. We had monkeys on our roof the last night, so we could barely sleep due to the noise of them walking around. We called security and they came very quickly to come check it out which was reassuring, however we still didn't get much sleep. Overall, I would recommend staying here.

"Beautiful resort with good food and plenty to do for a few days"

   20-02-2017
I really loved our stay at this resort. It is remote, but there is enough to do at the property and a good variety of restaurants, most of which have pretty good quality food, that we did not feel stranded the way we did in Koh Samui. ROOM: We stayed in a beachfront junior suite. It was huge and beautifully appointed, and beachfront is no joke - it is about 10 or 20 feet from the water, depending on tide. We had two terraces - one that got a lot of sun, one that was shaded - and the view from them was gorgeous. ACTIVITIES: The main thing to do here is to take boat trips to surrounding islands. We took two: 1) the early bird trip to Maya Bay and Koh Phi Phi Leh and 2) a longtail charter that took us to Bamboo Island and Mosquito Island (the latter was closed by the government but we saw it and snorkeled near it). The Koh Phi Phi Leh trip was fantastic - our boat beat all the other boats there and we had this majestic place to our group of ~10 people for about 15 minutes. Once the place got crowded, our group left and went to a few other spots on KPP Leh - Loh Samah Bay, the Emerald Lagoon and then to Monkey Beach where we saw wild monkeys. Beating the crowds to Maya Bay is the main reason we chose to stay on KPP Don and this early bird trip alone made our stay here worth it. Our trip to Bamboo Island was not as exciting, since it was not an organized tour and we were just dropped off on the island by our longtail driver. The tide was high so we couldn't really do much on the island itself and the beaches were not any nicer than the ones at the hotel. And then some speedboats from Phuket showed up and it was suddenly way too crowded. It was a pleasant way to spend an afternoon, but if I had it to do over again, I'd probably just have stayed at the hotel instead and enjoyed their beautiful beaches for free. From the hotel it is also not a bad walk to the top of the Koh Phi Phi Don viewpoint, which is well worth the hike (make sure to bring cash for admission to the viewpoint!!). There were also a few activities at the resort itself, including complimentary yoga. If you post about them on social media, they'll give you a coupon for a complimentary massage, which was nice except for the fact that the masseuse repeatedly pointed at my stomach and asked if I was pregnant (I was not). FOOD: There are several restaurants on the property. We ate mostly at the casual restaurant, which serves Thai and American food. It is reasonably priced for being on an island in the middle of the Indian ocean (albeit expensive compared to the Thai mainland) and the food was pretty tasty. Highlights included chicken pad see ew, banana fritters and curry. There is a fairly reasonably priced breakfast buffet, but you can also order breakfast a la carte and we thought that was a better deal unless you're starving, since for about half the price of the buffet you get a very filling meal. There are special dining options you can pay more for, like a cabana dinner on the beach or a moonlit buffet. POOL/BEACH: The beach area here is beautiful. Coming from Koh Samui, we were pleased by how beautiful and soft the sand is here, it's much nicer than the beaches on the Gulf coast of Thailand. The water is a beautiful turquoise and very warm. There are two gorgeous pools, a tranquil adults-only pool and a huge family pool with a swim-up bar and a small waterslide for kids. The beachfront has plenty of lounge chairs as well as beanbag chairs and hammocks. TRANSFERS: You have to take a ferry from Phuket or Krabi to the main pier on KPP, and then a longtail from the pier to the resort (although the longtail ride is beautiful). It's fairly expensive and operates only at fixed times per day, not on demand, so you may find yourself arriving at your destination much earlier or later than you had hoped, but otherwise it was a perfectly smooth process. This hotel is expensive for Thailand, but it really feels like a luxury resort. I'm very glad we chose to stay on Koh Phi Phi Don and I'm happy we chose Phi Phi Island Village.

"Absolute Paradise "

   19-02-2017
Ignore the previous review. Sounds like the previous guests were a handful. Once here you don't want to go anywhere else. This hotel is absolutely stunning. My only mistake is only booking for 4 nights instead of longer. Why would you want to pay to stay here and then go back to the busy port.... The airport pick up was great and once we finally arrived at the hotel on the hotel boat we felt completely relaxed. They sat us down and got us a drink while they sorted our room for us and luggage. Nice to just chill. Having travelled all over the world this is one of the best places I have been to. Two fantastic pools, beautiful huts, great restaurants, crystal clear waters, golden sand..... good cafes to chill in... staff were super friendly and went out of their way to help. The hotel has a small town behind it with restaurants (Oasis was great) and tour guides (Mote was fantastic). We did a trip and went the The Beach (famous) plus 4 other places. Wonderful day out. Swam with turtles, baby sharks, loads of fish and at the end of it Mote put all the pictures plus videos on our phone. (Take a spare memory card or USB stick). Book early as he only fits 12. Once you have been to phi phi main town you will realise why you are 100 times better off away from it all at this resort. Resort restaurant food were good and entertainment they had was excellent (live singing). If you don't book this place you will regret it. Wonderful. Wonderful. Complete bliss.
