"Stunning beach"

   06-03-2017
Amazing beach bar, quality food, and great service. Make sure to talk to Kay and his staff and you'll definitely be taken care of. They also have a beautiful pool, kayaks, snorkeling and anything else you could want.

"Absolutely horrendous"

   06-03-2017
If you want a hotel where they struggle to understand a word your saying, have an electric box in your room that sounds like a pylon and return your calls at midnight when you rang them a tea time and wake you up, this is the one for you.

"Just awful, do not waste your koney"

   03-03-2017
Just to start I don't usually write negative reviews unless they are well and truly deserving of them, plus am never a fussy or picky traveller but I honestly could not let another person waste there money here. I understand negative reviews are always taken with a grain of salt but this hotel is honestly not worth the gamble. There are no words to describe it. I'll start with the positives: firstly the beds were very comfy, the breakfast was passable and we found the staff very helpful in ordering us taxis and giving us information. Now for the negatives: We are young 20s travellers going around Thailand and we decided to come here as a little treat for the end of our trip. We spent a considerably larger amount of money on this accommodation compared to everywhere else we have stayed and it is safe to say we could not wait to get out of there. This is NOT a 4 star hotel. The rooms are absolutely tiny and cheap and the whole resort constantly smelt of sewerage, especially the rooms, the WHOLE stay. The towels provided were disgusting, completely stained black and brown, to the point where we could not use them, the bath matts provided where torn and old (seriously I have nice bath matts at my share house than this!) and the sliding door in our room to our "sea view" balcony did not shut, let alone lock, meaning we had mosquitoes and lizards in our room the whole trip. The state of the beach at the resort was awful. I would never let me dog set foot on that beach let alone a child. There was HUGE amounts of rubbish and derby lining the beach, from tooth brushes, snorkels, plastic bottles, food scraps, all sorts of shoes and rope to clothing, rubber stoppers, towels etc. The hotel claimed to sweep the beach three times a day, however when we arrived this rubbish had clearly been there for days if not weeks. I honestly could not believe the state of it. The restaurants where extremely over priced and had the worst food we had eaten in Thailand. We first tried the Capri Italian restaurant and quickly learnt why there was no one here. We had to ask the waited to take our order after sitting in the empty restaurant for 20 minutes while he sat on his phone. The food then took 40 minutes to arrive and was barely edible. I've never had such awful Italian in my life. We then tried to grill restaurant thinking it would be better than the last. We left half way through our meals (pad Thai) on the last night as there were simply inedible plus ridiculous priced. We decided to check out the reef diving school and had read it was a little bit pricey but worth it due to the small nature of the company. Pricey was an understatement. It was absolutely ridiculous compared to the rest of the island. We paid 400 baht every morning to get to our diving in town and it was still significantly cheaper than the diving school at the "beach club". We ended up paying 300 baht for two people rerun for a water taxi to the a snorkelling island close by, a trip which the hotel was asking 4000 baht for. Lastly, the resort is a good 15 minutes car ride away from anything remotely populated. The hotel offers shuttle services and completely inconvenient times, with only two shuttles returning back to the hotel at 7:15 pm and 10pm, meaning if you go to town at 8:30am there is no transport back until 10.5 hours later. The taxis also charge a premium to get you back here. They even had the nerve to charge us 300 baht to take us into town in the company car, a luxury which should be included in the hotel price due to the location. After speaking with long term Koh Tao residents which run a few local dive shops they completely understood out disappointment at our accommodation, telling us every "everyone knows you don't stay there, it's terrible". This hotel is no "beach club" or secluded romantic get away. It is completely false advertising and a whole lot of smoke and mirrors. Take your money and run this place is an absolute dump.

"Staff plays more with handy then take care of guests"

   21-02-2017
I have never seen a Hotel or Resort, where Staff is only using they're private Mobile Phones like here. If you order a drink, barkeeper is using Mobile Security in Entrance does not even realize that you need help with parking your moto, he is watching a fim on mobile with earphones Unbelievable, very dirty place, no 4 Star Service

"Disappointing condition of the hotel, a bit more than one year after its opening"

   19-02-2017
We arrived in Koh Tao after a lovely stay in Koh Phi Phi, expecting an at least as good experience as we had on the other island, since we saw the hotel under construction a bit more than a year before. First of all, the trip from the harbor to the hotel was shaky and kind of long, since the hotel lies on the other side of the island and the roads are not as good as in Bangkok for instance. Although the personal was very friendly and helpful, our first impression was sobering since the hotel already suffers from marks of use (bad steps and walls), the building where we had our room had a lot of bat or bird-dirt on the floor and a bad smell came from the back of it. The room we had (Ocean Balcony) was simply equipped and some of the equipment was at least dirty (balcony furniture) when not torn (like our bathroom carpet). Very few space was available to store our clothes and belongings. For the first and only night that we stayed there (we decided not to stay longer) we had only cold water for the shower. The restaurant where we had dinner served a good food but was a little bit expensive in comparison to all other places we could visit during our stay. The breakfast on the next day was not of the quality you could expect for the price category. Although we asked to change the room for a room of the very next located Haadtien Beach Resort, this was not possible, so we had to leave to find a hotel more fitting to our needs.
