Over Ras Kutani

"Heaven on Earth "
I have never experienced anywhere quite as wonderful as Ras Kutani. It's absolutely incredible. It's beautiful, peaceful, calming & everything you could wish for when you want to chill out somewhere. The suites are superb, I loved the indoors outdoors feel. I cannot recommend it enough. The hosts were so welcoming...but not over the top & all of their team were so friendly. I will DEFINITELY go back here one day. Thank you for starting off my African adventure so perfectly. 😃
"peace & quiet by beach"
We stayed four nights here before going on Safari to rest up after flying in. What a great choice , a wonderful location on a long white sandy beach next to a lagoon . The rooms were very comfortable & with plenty of room . But it was the service that made our stay special , dinner on the beach , by the pool a different place each night . My wife is a very fussy eater & they went out of there way to make sure she was catered for & we never had a bad meal . Lunch & Breakfast were serve in dinning area & both were very good . Had a massage which was also brilliant . Just to get you ready for a Safari there are many animals to see in the forest by the lagoon , eagles, kites ,kingfishers & 3 types of monkey & all seen from our veranda There is a nice pool & some lovely walks along the beach & in the forest . A marvellous place to relax before or after a trip in Tanzania .
"Great place to relax after a Safari"
Charming beachside resort in quite a remote location approx. 1 and ½ - 2 hours from Dar es Salaam on a good run (much longer if you get snarled up in the heavy traffic of Dar). Ideal for a few restful days after a safari. The beach is shared with a few local fishermen but there are no beach hawkers. The cottages with the best views face onto the lagoon, with the beach and sea beyond. You can't see the beach from the beach cottages as they are set back with a row of trees between them and the beach. Food is excellent and drinks reasonably priced. All the staff are friendly and attentive – waiter John P especially so – and the management team all made us very welcome. Our vegetarian requirements were well catered for by all the chefs – but one in particular, Juma, went out of his way to meet our needs and is also very well aware of allergy requirements (Jaki is intolerant of a lot of cheese). We spent our wedding anniversary there and were served a romantic dinner on the beach and then they brought a cake out to us which was very much appreciated. We had bought a bottle of champagne from Kigali airport duty free but found this hadn’t been necessary as they had KWV ‘champagne’ which was very acceptable and at a good price.
"Great place, relaxing"
This was my second time in Ras Kutani, see my comments in 2012. I returned because we were so enthusiastic. The place is fantastic, as well: stretched along a beach of soft sand and, partly, along a beautiful lagoon. The bungalows are very nice, with a huge swahili bed, made of natural materials. However, my first stay was a little better, especially for the food that is good but not outstanding, related to the price of the accomodation that is in high end. Anyway, nothing serious to complain! You can spend a few days there in total relax, very nice solution at the beginning (or at the end) of a journey in Tanzania.
We stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of our trip to recover from the long journey and it exceeded all expectations. We were lucky enough to have a suite which was absolutely beautiful….huge bed, open at the front and sides except for mozzie mesh, beautiful decor pitched just right with lovely furniture and colours but simple and in perfect harmony with the surroundings. I had my best nights' sleep for years with the breeze and the sound of the sea. The plunge pool was a wonderful bonus and we felt incredibly spoilt as we sat in there looking out towards the sea with a group of visiting monkeys all around us.The atmosphere at Ras Kutani was happy and relaxed. The managers were really lovely….available and friendly without being intrusive. In fact all the staff were wonderful and took great care of us and especially of our dietary requirements with Michael being vegetarian and me having severe peanut allergy. The food was fantastic and the place is beautifully lit with lanterns in the evening. Quite magical! We loved the beach and the lagoon walk and just lazing around. Having thought of Ras Kutani as a bit of a tag-on to our trip it ended up being a real highlight and a somewhere that we would dearly love to go back to one day. A very special place indeed.
