Een verblijf in dit hotel is ideaal als u laat in de avond in Johannesburg aankomt. In slechts 10 minuten rijdt de shuttlebus van de luchthaven naar Emperor's Palace. Hier vindt u maar liefst 20 restaurants, diverse winkels en een casino. Emperor's Palace is een vorstelijk complex met fonteinen, standbeelden, marmeren vloeren, muurschilderingen en fresco's waardoor u zich in een klassiek Romeins paleis waant. "Not so 'Grande'"

We stayed overnight at this 5-star hotel, which we were quite excited about. When we checked in, everything was quite well organised and we promptly went up to our room to drop our bags. The room we selected was a smoking room, but they did not have ashtrays available, but we made do. We had a reservation at Aurelia's for 19:00 which was made by our host Adrian. We arrived at the restaurant and walked up to the hostess desk. A person, who appeared to be the manager, was draped over the hostess desk - leaning on it because he obviously had a hectic day and was too exhausted to stand up straight. We stood at the hostess desk briefly waiting for service. The manager looking person, being so exhausted, just pointed at us and told someone 'there's a customer'. At least he tried to help. The hostess attended to us and tried to find our reservation, which they could not find. Obviously misplaced because I showed her the confirmation we received. She looked again, but could not find it again. She told us "No I don't have your reservation. And we don't have any tables available anyway". She turned around and left us standing there without a further word. Maybe she thought because we had a voucher, we are not important enough. Or she was busy and distracted. We stood there for a minute, everyone ignored us, so we went to go eat at Platia. At least the service there doesn't suck. When we arrived back at our room after 21:00 we initially couldn't get into our room because a trolley was placed in front if the door for a turndown service. So we stood in the passage for a bit, until the lady let us in. She was great -friendly, accommodating - so I can't complain (I just find a turndown at 21:20 at night a bit strange. We slept comfortably and woke up nice and early and went for breakfast. The breakfast service was good and the food tasty. One downside - the pastries were old and stale. You could see they did not make them fresh. I could not finish the one I took. After breakfast we went for check-out were the superbly poor service was concluded by the reception lady saying to me, "Hello, check-out?" I said yes, gave her the keycards and she typed on the computer. Super-efficiently. She then looked up briefly, said "thanks, good bye" and that was it. No interaction, no communication and no smile. Seriously not a good experience. We left - at least the security guy smiled and said good bye properly. The only reason I would return is if I do not have another choice. Suggestions: Train your staff from Management down that courtesy and sincerity costs nothing.

"upset and dissappointed"

listen to the guests requests and not just follow protocol each guest is different and each requires different needs to make their experience enjoyable and memorable. i booked these rooms about 3/4 weeks ago and requested early check in. I was told I would be possible providing that the rooms were available in the morning. I called the day before to confirm the guy that answered said that he would make a note on the system and that I should call at 6am to that morning to confirm. I called at 6am and the lady said that one of my rooms was available and that se was going to check with house keeping if the 2nd room was available. I called back at 6:30 spoke to Sanele who told me the exact same thing. I sent my mum there at 11:30 to pay for the rooms and se was told by Winnie that the rooms will only be ready for check in at 2pm. I called winnie and after making a noise she asked me to send my mum back to her which I did. when my mum got there she said the rooms were still not available but she wanted to tell my mum that face to face. this got me even angrier and when I called back trying to speak to her she kept giving the phone back to my mum. I had to call the hotel manager to get this sorted and she informed me that the rooms were available but house keeping had taken off the curtains to clean them. so I would like to know if I requested the early check in why did the first lady confirm the room and than allow house keeping to remove the curtains. at 5 star establishment there should be better planning and handling of guests is it because we are gamblers that we are treated poorly because you know we will continue coming to the casino or is it because we book on discounted rates that staff feel that tey can drop the service levels when dealing with gamblers?

"LOVELY HOTEL CLOSE TO AIRPORT"

Thought this was a lovely hotel for our overnight before flying to Vic Falls. The rooms were clean and more than adequate. Probably one of the better hotels were stayed in on our trip. The buffet breakfast was fabulous..... lots and lots of choices..probably the best buffet on our trip too! Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

"should be better"

Located just by tambo airport, which great as you avoid the traffic jam. It is part of bigger area with casinos, convention center and restaurants so you will not be bored. we had the room on third floor, quite big with nice view, nice bathroom with lousy shower that somehow was standing as it should. coffee & tea facilities in the room except a crucial part a spoon. wifi was easy to access but the speed was killing slow, for a 5 star should be better, good point is that wifi worked all over the hotel, convention, casino ..... rooms are not to well sound insulated so you can hear your neighbors here and there break fast was a good highlight, from sushi, to eggs made as you wish, Chinese, fruits and so on, big selection, nice cappuccino as well. has a nice pool for free and a spa for extra cost. the bar is nice, drinks are not expensive and you can get bites to eat.

"Elegant Retreat "

We arrived at the Peermont D'oreale Grande after a 16 hour flight from Atlanta. The shuttle was easy to find and we were greeted warmly by the porter, Wellington. The front desk personnel was warm, efficient and personable. Our room was beautiful and comfortable. We had turn down service that included a variety of teas, coffee, cookies, and chocolate. The deep bathtub was perfect to get some of the kinks out of my back after the long flight. We walked around the grounds and found many great food choices at the nearby Emperor's Palace. The grounds are secured and well patrolled. We are looking forward to returning to this beautiful property on September 16.
