Over The Peech Hotel

"Comfortable, not my favorite"
I stayed at The Peech for one night. The room was comfortable and I appreciated the in room snack options, as well as the ease of being able to charge my electronics using a USB port in the wall. Dinner the night of my stay was rather awkward. Having traveled all day coming into the city from the bush, and due to the pouring rain that night. I opted to eat on premise. I'd read positive reviews of the food which swayed my decision. I was alerted by the staff that the hotel was hosting one of it's "wine dinners" that night but that I could still be accommodated. Silly me, I thought that meant that I could dine in the dining room while the wine dinner was conducted around me. Instead, I and other guests were seated for our meals at three tables crammed into a wine storage room. It wasn't a wine cellar, which can be a cozy environment, it was truly a storage room complete with stark lighting, dusty shelves, etc. The food was good, but the dining was awkward. It really felt like we were more of a nuisance to be fed and moved out of there so that the staff could focus on the wine dinner. In retrospect I should have opted to eat in my room or had something delivered. The property is beautiful. Full of fabulous trees. And when the rain cleared to a nice sunny morning the next day the outdoor spaces off my room was a delightful place to enjoy a cup of tea. The room decor felt a little sterile and cold to me, but that's my issue. It was well appointed, clean, and very comfortable. I'd certainly recommend The Peech if you're in Jozi.
"Relaxing and beautiful "
We stayed at the Peech after traveling ~48 hours to get to Johannesburg from Seattle. It couldn't have been any better! The room was large and the bathtub so very inviting for a nice long soak. We ordered in lunch from the restaurant on premise and it was delicious. The staff were extremely attentive, courteous, and helpful. It was the perfect place to catch up on some much needed sleep and spend the first night in South Africa. The location felt very safe. The breakfast was delicious. If I'm ever back in j'burg, I would stay here again.
"Delightful, comfortable hotel"
I stayed here for 2 nights over the last week-end. Lovely, comfortable room with a nice "African" decor feel. Large, well appointed bath, comfortable bed, well-thought out light controls. All very clean. Welcoming, accommodating staff. Excellent recommendations for meals, etc. Coming off a week in another African country, I was happy to be able to send out laundry and have it back the same day. I recommend this hotel without reservation. Be aware, however, that some of the rooms are housed in individual townhouses, which means that your room may be up a long outside stairway. The upper landing is well lit, the stairs themselves, less so. If stairs are an issue for you, ask for a first floor room. Once I remembered to use my cellphone's flashlight app, I was fine.
We stayed at the hotel for one night only and had a great stay. Rooms and gardens are beautiful. One of the best bathrooms I've ever seen. Staff very friendly and helpful. Delicious snacks in room and room service was available. A staff member also kindly went to purchase us snacks on our request at the garage shop opposite the road. Dinner was five star. We could have unfortunately not stayed for breakfast but based on the quality of dinner I'm sure it would have been great. Would definitely want to return some day.
"First Class Service"
Stayed two nights earlier this month and experienced excellent service from all of the staff. Charmaine and the concierge team were very helpful and could not have done more to make our stay perfect. The hotel is in a very good location in Melrose with all restaurants and sights within a short taxi ride.
