"beautiful setting, great staff, but hotel is a little tired"
spent 2 nights at the hotel, beautiful dramatic setting against the mountains, unfortunately the hotel is starting to look a little tired in places and could definitely do with a revamp like new window frames, door frames etc, we stayed in room 62, again comfortable but tired. Recommend organising your trips with Osman Solomons in the reception.

Family Visit @ Le Franschhoek Villas Thank you Chris and staff @ Le Franschhoek Hotel & Spa for the most unforgettable visit to the villas. We had the most fantastic time at your beautiful resort. Beautiful gardens! Your breakfast and breakfast service was outstanding and enjoyed by all of us.
"Beautiful setting, excellent service"
Nestled in a valley surrounded by stunning mountain scenery just outside of town. Staff are super friendly and always willing to help. Real customer focus. Stayed in a suite - only small issue was the shower over the bath rather than separate. About an hour leisurely and scenic drive from Cape Town International Airport. Food quality is good. The car museum is a must see in the area as is the Rooibos tea tasting - would definitely recommend the Tangerine and Ginger flavour.
"Not a great choice"
We were really disappointed by our room which was a garden suite. An exterior building divided into 2 rooms. It had windows and French doors along the whole side of the room so being on the ground floor we had zero privacy unless we drew all the blinds and drapes eliminating what was a pleasant aspect and the main advantage of the room. The fabric of the building needed attention too, peeling paint and rotting wood on the large verandah as you approached and an ill fitting door and bathroom window let insects in, at least thats where we think they came from, the centipedes and small beetle that visited us. The hot tap in the small bathroom turned on the sink so we had to hold the tap with one hand while turning the tap with the other. The toiletries were cheap and didn't have a conditioner only one of those nasty conditioning shampoos you find in inexpensive B&Bs and the towels are thin. The wifi didnt reach the room very well so lost connectivity was constant and annoying and it was terribly slow even in the main building. The bed was too firm to our taste and the thatched ceiling/tin roof conveyed nighttime activity rather too well for good sleep. The hotel is situated on a hill and we had a lot of steps going down inside the hotel and then outside to get to the room. As the car had to be left at the top by the front lobby and as I had injured my knee that was a bit of a trial. On the way to the room initially I did ask about the steps and possibility of room with an elevator but got no response, my bad I didnt push to be moved but we had to hustle for a dinner reservation returning late and of course once we unpacked we decided to mange for our 3 night stay. On the positive side it was clean, the staff were pleasant, the nighttime chocolate was good and the breakfast was nice. A buffet, not cooked to order, but kept maintained and hot with a decent selection, only issue, it never changed, we got tired of the same offering every morning... The hotel was a bit outside the village but as it was touristy and busy we thought that a good thing and not a problem if you have a car. The hotel staff will organize a shuttle downtown for you if you want it. I did use the spa and the treatment was ok, and not expensive but hard to get appointments after daytime activities so book ahead if you want one at the end of the day. That building needed attention too. Overall, we have stayed in nicer hotels in SA and for this star level disappointing. I would try a different one if I were returning to the area
