"Lovely, charming hotel"

   02-08-2017
The Cape Cadogan was our first stop in South Africa. It is well located and well-appointed. We loved the friendly staff and delicious breakfast. In the evening there is a cocktail hour where we met other guests from all over the world. We paid for our wine, but the hotel provided appetizers, port, and sherry. We really loved talking to the other guests about what they had seen and experienced in Cape Town. We were there during the winter in South Africa so it was chilly. The hotel put hot water bottles into our bed at night and we were toasty warm till morning. The only negative is that the bathroom was unheated and cold. The hotel provided robes and slippers which did help. The bedroom had a heater and AC unit. Just the bathroom was cold.

"Quaint Boutique "

This clean boutique is located close to the popular Kloof street. Kloof street can be a little dodgy at times, but we felt safe in the hotel. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was excellent. The only minor complaint was that the room and breakfast room were very drafty and with a cool Cape Town winter it could be quite cold at times.

"This Place Just Oozes Charm"

   11-07-2017
Stayed here for two nights and had a fabulous time. The staff were incredible, really couldn't do enough for you, and it was all the little touches that made this such a great hotel - such as the hot water bottles they brought round during turn-down. The rooms were spacious and clean (with a really, really great shower), and breakfast was fresh with a great selection. The décor of the whole places was just lovely and we partook in the evening port and canopies in the cozy lounge, which had such a friendly atmosphere. Wouldn't hesitate in staying here again. It was like being invited into an incredibly hospitable home.

"Outstanding Hotel"

This is a fantastic hotel. Almost more of a BB style but with a hotel type staff. The rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed. The included breakfast in the mornings were delicious with a lot of options. It was the little things though the made this truly worthy of 5 stars such as the complimentary sherry and port every evening and teas and pastries in the afternoon. Also since it was winter there it would be a little chilly at night and they would put a heated water bladder on each side of bed so you would have warm sheets. Last but not least the service was outstanding. Can't say enough good things.

"Short but sweet - despite the storm!"

   02-07-2017
We stayed at Cape Cadogan for the first 2 nights of our honeymoon, prior to a safari in Sabi Sands Reserve. We wished we had had more time to enjoy this lovely boutique hotel and would be happy to return when we come back to Cape Town in the future to see the places we couldn't reach due to the bad storm which came in on our first night. On arrival we were upgraded to the Suite as it was our honeymoon. The room was wonderful - a lounge, big bedroom with comfy bed (hot water bottles 2nd night), tub, shower etc, plus a big outside terrace with plunge pool and 2 loungers. This was sunny when we arrived, but we didn't have a chance to enjoy it to the full as the incredibly strong winds that first night swept both sunbeds into the plunge pool and the bad weather continued through the second day. We had intended to use the first afternoon to go up Table Mountain on the cable car but that was closed for the duration of our stay due to the winds, so we took the open top hop on-hop off bus to explore the bottom of Table Mountain and then down to Camps Bay and round to the waterfront - a nice sightseeing route. The second day we had pre-booked by email via the hotel to go on a private tour around the Cape Peninsula to Cape Point but again, it wasn't possible to go that far due to the weather. However the very accommodating guide arrived early at the hotel and suggested an alternative morning - wine tasting in the Stellenbosch region. Thus we found ourselves at Waterford vineyard, which specialises in wine and chocolate pairings - an excellent experience in lovely surroundings with a log fire which suited the day, so we were happy. Then we were set off for the Cape Peninsula, and had a lovely seafood platter lunch at Harbour View in Simon's Town, again as suggested by the guide. In the afternoon we then still managed to get to Boulders Beach to see the penguins in the rain, which were on my wife's bucket list, and our guide gave me his own coat as I didn't have one - excellent service. Cape Cadogan offers a very nice breakfast buffet plus a menu of hot dishes so we were well set up for each day. Then in the early evening they lay out some canapes in the lounge plus complimentary sherry and port, plus an honesty bar for wine and spirits which are also available. This is a nice start to an evening out. The first night we took the complimentary hotel shuttle to the waterfront and had a lovely meal down there at Harbour House, then got a taxi back. The second evening we walked 10 minutes down the hill from the hotel to Kloof Street House which is a cosy and warm restaurant with a buzzing atmosphere - just what we needed on a cool winter night. Staff at the hotel were very accommodating and friendly and we would highly recommend Cape Cadogan as a peaceful little haven with those little extra touches which make for a special experience.
