Over Lion Sands Tinga Lodge

"Exceeded All Expectations"

From the moment we arrived at the airport, the Lions Sands staff gave us a five star experience. The people were as kind, friendly and generous as them come. The main lodge and accommodations were beautifully appointed and in keeping with the land. Tour guides and trackers had passion and respect for the wildlife, which they taught us while imparting some of their vast animal knowledge. Food was delicious. Service impeccable. Truly, I wish I could have stayed longer.

"best ways to luxury safari"

Second trip to this area. First time we stayed on the Sabi reserve across the river this time we stayed here on the Kruger side. Lion Sands does a wonderful job with the atmosphere, food, service and guides. There are several over the top lodges all overlooking the river for a most picturesque view. Since we are there for the animals the guides do a great job, they communicate with each other and drive right up into the bush to get the best look at these magnificent animals. This trip we saw several leopards than on the Sabi side but I think there seemed to be larger herds of buffalo and elephants in the Sabi Sands reserve. We combined this trip with the Maratoba lodge which is a plane ride away and a different bush experience with less trees and what seemed like a more roaming animal population. That lodge was superb also as a tented camp and we found lots of rhino present. It is best to stay 2-3 days at any one lodge and then change to a different area with different game experience.

"The only place you need to be! "

My family loved, loved, loved our stay at Tinga Lodge in Kruger. The staff are amazing! The food is amazing! The rooms are amazing! We dream of going back already! It is worth every penny! Riann was the best field guide and Chris was an amazing tracker! We had the best time ever! Thank you!

"Charming & beautiful"

This was our 3rd safari of our South African vacation. We traveled with two other families as well. Before arriving at Tinga, we received an email stating they had a fire & ultimately had to do some rearranging of guests at their sister lodges. So our friends & I were split up. My family stayed at the Tinga Lodge & our other two family friends at the Narina Lodge. Our tour guide Luke Abbot picked us up from the airport & drove us to our lodge. Luke was super friendly, outgoing and has this contagious laugh! We were warmly greeted by Nadia (the manager) & staff. The lodge is very charming and the rooms are very spacious. We opted out of the first game drive that evening as we were tired due to travel. Nadia arranged for us to have lunch in our rooms. Edmond our butler introduced himself as he brought our lunch. I can't say enough how awesome Edmond is! Nadia helped accommodate us with meeting up with our friends at the Narina Lodge for dinner. Our Butler Edmond was so sweet as to come over to Narina Lodge to serve us as well. The game drive the next morning we meet our tracker Abraham with our tour guide Luke. Let me just say it was fantastic! This being our 3rd safari we finally got to see a female leopard! She was so beautiful & we drove through the bush to get right next to her & she was unfazed. Later on we got sandwiched between two Rhinos that were tracking a pride of 6 lions! Luke had us so close my husband was a little afraid & asked him to back up! It was so awesome! Our other two safaris we weren't allowed to drive through the bush, but let me say here they did. It was not only exciting but a little scary at times too! (Not in a bad way.) You will be pleasantly surprised when you are staying here.

"Wonderful Experience"

I am just about to check out of Tinga Lodge but wanted to write this review whilst I was still here. We have had the most wonderful 3 days here, the Lodge is just fantastic, from the moment you arrive you can see that everything from the staff, to the rooms, to the food is of a high standard. Every room in out lodge (including the shower and bathroom) looked out across the bush. The staff were just fantastic, so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. You can see how proud they are of this place. Now to the Safari....wow, wow, wow. We were lucky enough to have Jabulani and Wanted as our guides and they were just amazing. We saw 4 of the big 5 on the first day and we spent the next day looking for the Lions.........and we found them. Saw 9 in one evening, they are just amazing! We learnt to be patient and at times we didn't see much wildlife, but just to be out in the African jungle listening to the sounds was enough for us. The attention to detail during the whole stay was unbelievable, they seemed to know what you wanted before you even did, like tables set at lunch facing the wildlife, drinks at sunset on safari, fires lit when its cold, beautiful notes from your housekeeper, electric blankets on cold evenings. Nothing was too much trouble and that is what we will always remember. Thank you Nadya, Lorraine and team it has been amazing!
