"A league of its own."

   18-02-2018
We recently went to Londolozi Tree Camp to celebrate my b’day. Unfortunately, due to bad weather, flights were cancelled which meant that we would arrive two days late for our safari. But the team at Londolozi was extremely understanding of our sudden change in plans due to inclement weather. The moment we heard that they so graciously accommodated us, right then we knew we would visit again. And after being there, there is absolutely no doubt in our minds that our next trip to Africa will include a trip to Londolozi. This poses a bit of a problem for us - we had plans to visit Etosha, Virunga, Savuti, and several other places, but there is now a huge Londolozi shaped wrench in all of these plans. We have traveled a fair amount and have been to several places where we have enjoyed our stay. No where have we been treated and made to feel as much like family as we were at Londolozi. From start to finish, there was nothing but perfection. Every request we had, big or small, was taken care of without us having to make it again. To put things into context, when I mentioned I wanted to photograph the milky way, two night photography experts, in addition to our ranger and tracker, accompanied us to make sure I got the perfect shot. That was their extent of attention to detail and perfectionism. The lodge had an extremely well stocked bar - each G & T we had was made with a different type of gin! - and meals were very meticulously and tastefully prepared. They had the three hallmarks of good food - just the right amount of heat, low on fat/butter, and high on flavor. While it takes an entire team to run a lodge and make each guest's experience memorable, on any safari, the two individuals that one spends the most time with are the ranger and tracker. So to a very large extent, ones experiences are greatly affected by the aptitude and temperament of these two individuals. Our ranger and tracker, Guy and Shadrack, were quite possibly the best we have ever had. They were exceptional at their job and just absolute pleasures to be around. It is always expected that a ranger and tracker will know how to locate animals and be knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna. What made all the difference and truly elevated the experience for us was the friendly rapport they shared with each other and soon with us. Our jovial exchanges felt made us feel as though we were with friends and not strangers. An extremely welcome bonus was that being an ace photographer, Guy shared several tips with me and constantly checked in to see if I needed his help to change camera settings or to make sure I was pleased with my photos. I also wanted to make a special mention of Phil, the Tree Camp Manager. He was always present, making sure we were comfortable and was ready to help in any way we needed. And that he made the best G & Ts I had ever had, was a bonus! The only criticism I have of the lodge is that their serving sizes are way too generous. So to avoid being wasteful, share if you can. Londolozi, you are like no other – in every possible superlative meaning of the expression. We’ve only been back a month, but are already making plans to visit you again. Soon.

"Wow! Tree Camp exceeds expectations every time"

   14-01-2018
This was our third visit to Tree Camp - each time we have been nervous about trying to repeat what have been outstanding previous visits and each time we have left feeling that this was the best visit yet. Our guide Shaun was wonderful - a great sense of humour, ready to explain everything and a careful approach to tracking and viewing. Our tracker Elmond was also outstanding - finding leopards by carefully checking a series of tracks. The camp itself is exceptional - great staff, friendly atmosphere, efficiency in everything they do and great food. The lodges are huge and fully equipped with everything you could wish for - a huge sitting room, bedroom, changing room, dressing room and bathroom - far and away the most luxurious lodge we have stayed at. A welcome addition was the new gym - necessary after all that sitting eating and drinking! We would love to return.

"Good photography program"

   16-10-2017
We wrapped up our final Africa trip with a stay at Tree Camp - our first game lodge 20 years ago. It is still wonderful. The magic of Tree Camp is that you feel as if you are in a small camp in the wilds of Africa, while actually in a large group of camps in a private game reserve. These days there are houses, cell towers, etc to distract you while viewing animals, but the experience is still superior. Food is excellent, rooms are super comfortable, and the staff is always very friendly and helpful. For example, we are knowledgeable about South African wines, so the staff served us some special bottles. I enrolled in the photography program, which I recommend. I'm an experienced photographer, but having a photo counselor on board for game drives and image review was a lot of help.

"Wow Five Star!"

We booked a luxury stay Africa vacation but still this place knocked my socks off! Every part of our stay here was amazing from our room accommodations to the food, service, free laundry to the fantastic food. Eating dinners at the boma were fun. The special dinner was outstanding but let me tell you the impala served one night was the most amazing meat we've eaten. Every single meal the food was great. Having alcohol/beer/soda/coffee/tea and snacks in our room was nice to sit and relax on our deck. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom huge. Too cold to use the unheated plunge pool or the outside shower but my husband sat on the deck daily. Just a really lovely stay here. Our game drives started off slow but by the end of our 3 night stay we were satisfied with the animals we saw here. Much different from our safari experience in the Masai Mara in Kenya where the animals are plentiful. I would return here in a heartbeat and highly recommend it. Excellent staff.

"NAMIBIA AND SOUTH AFRICA – 30 NIGHTS – 9 LOCATIONS – 2 PEOPLE – 27 GAME DRIVES"

8th STOP: Londolozi Tree Camp, Sabi Sand Reserve, Mpumalanga, South Africa. After a long day trip, by air from Windhoek to Jo’burg to Nelspruit, and a 2.5 hours’ drive, we arrived in darkness at this outstanding camp destination, where we stayed for 5 nights Unfortunately, the weather was wet for most of our stay, which did deter us from participating in some game drives. Our lodge was very large and included a capacious living room, stocked with lots of reading materials snacks and premium brand spirits. A highlight was a surprise “picnic” lunch, high up in a tree-house aside a river. Food and wine were in abundance, as were relaxing furniture and reading materials. Great hospitality from management and staff.
