"Very disappointed"

   14-02-2017
We stayed here some years ago in the Cottages, it was a great experience. We have now stayed in the camping/caravan rest camp, we are booked in for 3 nights, I think from our first night experience we will be on the move. From arrival at Reception it did not sit well. It was like Picadilly Circus & Admin did not appear to have a clue what they were doing. There was a very disgruntled customer at the desk, it appears they had booked in avance for a cottage 6 months ago, it appears it had been doubled booked, the other party had arrived earlier and were given the accommodation. We eventually were booked in after 35 minuets. We found our camp spot, it was on the small side for our trailer and free standing tent. It was difficult to pitch each outfit as the ground is so hard for the tent pegs. We were invaded by Camp staff to HELP errect the tents even though it was said we did not need help, they would not take NO for an answer. A lady from the site next to us spoke to the staff in local language, they then disappeared. Once camp was set we headed off on a game drive for the last 2 hours of the drive day. The bush was very dense due to quite a bit of rain, we did spot one or two animals which is what we came to see. It was time to turn in for the night, we were not awear that just over the boundry of the camp there was a freight line, between the hours of 21:00 & 05:45 there were 7 Freight Liners went through, the noise was unbelievable, the vibration from the train could be felt. The camp its self was very noisey, Could not believe how inconsiderate people were talking loudly, empting bottles into bins it was unbelievable. The only saving grace is seeing the Animals which is what being here is all about But its a heavy price to pay. I will not be back here again, its such a shame.

"Small campsite with little privacy"

   14-02-2017
We didn't book upfront our campsite in Addo NP (as the sanparks website showed plenty of availability), to our surprise when we came in (again pick your spot), many campsites were already taken by caravans.. the tentsites are so tiny that people with tents automatically go to the caravan sites, we with our rooftop tent also needed to take a 'caravan site'. Overall it meant that all campsites with shade were already taken.. We only stayed for a night (changed our plans) as we found the campsite too small and the only privacy you have from your neighbour is a hedge.. which doesn't do it for us.. Next time we visit, I think we will stick again (as previous visits) with a rondavel/chalet.

"Yet Another Satisfying Visit & stay at Rondavel"

   07-02-2017
For several years we have been visiting Addo & always try to secure reservations at rondavels because being able to sit out on your own stoep enjoy a great view of the waterhole & wait over a glass of cool wine is exceptional. We have stayed twice in the last 2 months & both times were excellent. Think that perhaps the rondavels are beginning to show signs of wear & perhaps a refurbishment or at least a lick or paint would not go amiss but other than that we enjoyed our stay & will be back for sure...in fact we are already booked again this year !

"Amazing experience! Make sure to stay in a safari tent for at least a night"

   06-02-2017
Amazing. Absolutely amazing. We stayed only one night in the safari tents and let me tell you, it was awesome. The tent is secured, so you can lock your belongings inside without any problems. You have a big deck that looks out to the park where we saw elephants hanging out. You have a communist kitchen area and bathroom which is only a 30 second walk away and they are both very clean. If you dont want to cook there, there is a a restaurant and shop only a few minutes walk away ( you can buy snacks, water, wine, beer and suvioners in the shop) The restaurant is called the Cattle Baron, which is also in a few other national parks nearby and they have decent food at an affordable price. It's a great experience and very easy to get up and get in your car or take a tour in a high raised jeep with a guide to find animals. You will see SO many elephants its insane. They also have family chalets that is a little further away from being able to see the elephants walking around in the parks

"Fantastic Cottage, and amazing drives."

   05-02-2017
Stayed here in November 2016 for 2 nights. Arrived about noon, but they're quite strict that you cannot check in officially until 2pm. Did all the paperwork at reception upon arrival so just had to go back to collect our room key. While we waited for a couple of hours it gave us a chance to wander around, and we went down to the undercover viewing area, and saw a few kudu, and a warthog. The cottage itself was lovely, very clean and with everything we needed. We signed up for a sunset drive and saw elephants so close up we could almost touch them, more kudu, buffalo, lions in the distance and jackals. We did our own self drive the following morning at sunrise as the park opened at 6am, and as soon as we drove in 2 cheetahs were walking down the road and came right by our car, it was AMAZING!!! Saw more kudu, buffalo, zebras, jackals, etc. We also did a night drive, but wrap up warm, it gets super cold! The place has all the facilities you need, and we had a lovely time.We even went for a dip in the freezing cold pool, and made a friend with a tortoise while sunbathing. The restaurant has lovely food, great steak and wine, and well priced especially compared to UK prices. Would definitely go back!
