"Excellent national parks accommodation"
Cottages are spacious, well equipped and private. Lovely bush view from balcony - although we only saw birds. The game drives were excellent as we saw loads of animals. This is a huge park so you can do numerous drives. The picnic site was so well equipped with separate picnic huts and clean toilets. There is a swimming pool for cooling down and an underground viewing hut. We went there one night and had a buffalo casually feeding a few feet away. Definitely recommend this camp with its various types of accommodation to suit all budgets
"Addo is a must!"
We stayed in the Chalets (there was three of us) which was advertised as being able to sleep 3 - wrong! There were two single beds (fine) however, the sleeper couch that was advertised for the third person is far from efficient for an adult. First of all it wasn't even made up when we arrived (even though we paid for the extra person) so we had to go hunting for the sheets - but most importantly it is so far from being adequate for an adult! If you are of average height from your shins down will be hanging off the edge of the bed and it is not comfortable. This sleeper couch would be ok for a child who is not yet fully grown - otherwise it can not be sold for another person IMO. The views form the chalets are beautiful - we could see elephants grazing in the sunset. The kitchen and facilities were great as well. Addo Elephant National Park itself is a must do, absolutely amazing experience seeing all the animals up close and with the freedom to stick to your own schedule in a self drive. We saw more cape buffaloes (and elephants of course) than we did the following day at Shamwari.
"LOVE ADDO, BUT FACILITIES VERY TIRED & NEGLECTED!"
Addo is one of our favorite place to visit every year, even a few times a year, and we always stay in the park. over the years we have stayed in most types of units. This year we camped just a week ago, a group of 8, and this experience was disappointing as the facilities of the camp site and private safari tents are totally neglected with stoves not working, cupboard doors taken off, AND with the rate they are now this is totally unacceptable! Come on Sanparks, and more specifically ADDO Management, you are charging a fortune for accommodation, fix things, revamp property, and take pride in what you are offering us and our overseas visitors. We spoke to a few Guests and Staff and they all said they had lots of complaints too from foreign visitors and felt ripped off - BE CAREFUL SANPARKS YOU DO NOT KILL THE GOOSE THAT LAYS THE GOLDEN EGGS WITH YOUR OVERPRICED RATES, FEE'S AND POOR QUALITY BUILDING REPAIRS AND LACK OF MAINTENANCE PLUS PICKING UP OF PAPERS IN THE BUSH - ALSO NO VISIBILITY AT WATER HOLE DUE TO BUSH GROWING TOO HIGH. ALSO TIME FOR A NEW CAMP SITE IN THE BUSH FOR TENTERS ONLY But yes I will no doubt go back, again and again because the nature and wild life is extraordinary! ;-)
"Surprised to find this in a National Park!"
Reed grass rooved semi-detached bungalows with spacious balconies and great views. Self-catering and spacious all-round. Enjoyed a bottle of wine on the deck whilst listening to the hyenas and jackals in the distance. There's a very decent restaurant a short walk away and a communal outdoor swimming pool. Well worth the cost for the convenience and experience!
"Very nice accommodation"
Reed grass covered cottage with nice terrace and view, fan (no ac), fully self catering, parking right out of the door. Just beware of monkeys and baboons, never leave anything outside unattended. Lot of birds will visit while you on the terrace. Big room, good maintaned and quiete location. You could also walk to the reception or restaurant.
