"Fantastic wildlife viewing"
daughter and I stayed in a Safari Tent (No.4) and were very comfortable. Ok, it's not 5* accommodation but is pretty good, the nearby camp site can have noisy children but the animals are far noisier so take ear plugs!! It had everything we needed; comfy beds, fantastic private veranda, fridge, fan, kettle. Quite a bit of dust build up behind the roll down window blinds so leave them in place if you sneeze easily! Showers and toilets are nearby and as there are only 5 safari tents never busy. The highlight was returning to the tent at about 9pm and seeing a pair of rhino, or having breakfast and watching the elephants, eland and warthogs browsing in front of you and birds and butterflies dancing in the sky. Absolutely fantastic. We highly recommend a guided tour. We did two; one at 7pm on our first evening, and a second at mid-day, followed by a drive round ourselves. Both organised tours were excellent. We returned to Port Elizabeth through the Colchester gate in our small hire car. The track is fine but allow about 2 hrs at least as there is so much to see. Wonderful place.
"Beautiful bird life"
The main rest camp was very well built and very well suited to provide views and privacy. It was also very clean we had a great game drive with Headman, and saw loads of elephants. Dinner in the Hide and Seek (Cattleman’s grill ) restaurant was fun. The waiters hid away and you had to find them. In total a good experience.
"Great reserve and good restaurant"
The cabins where we stayed were old. We were three (including our three year old) and no bed was made up for him. We ended up turning the couch into a bed for him. The good thing was the park and the fact that we woke up with a view: could see an elephant walking by. All in all we would come back for the park, not for the cabin.
"Basic but well planned good value accommodation"
I was pleasantly surprised by the accommodation. We stayed in Rondavel 12 which was clean and private overlooking the floodlight water hole. Whilst basic I thought the accommodation was well planned with everything you needed including a toaster and kettle in your room, a large fridge/ freezer on your balcony and your own braai. There was also a well equipped communal kitchen. For what we paid I thought it was excellent value.
"Park is great, campsite is ok but could be better"
We have been to Addo a couple of times before, always camping, and this was our first trip there with our young kids. We very much enjoyed the game drives and the kids had a fantastic time seeing elephants up close, as well as many other species. The campsite is ok, the sites themselves are fine (although the tent sites are very small, so maybe worth paying the extra for the caravan site if you want a bit more space), the kitchen area was clean and tidy, the ladies bathroom seemed fine to me, but my husband said the mens bathroom was very dirty with mould in the showers etc. We had a good meal at the onsite Cattle Baron restaurant. Would have loved a kids play area.
