"Lovely place to stay, great variety of animals to see"

We stayed 1 night in the tented camp and then 2 nights in the lodge. We did 6 game drives and each drive was unique in its own way. Lions, cheetahs, sundowner drinks with the giraffes, elephant herd passing the truck on both sides and many more. It's a private reserve and there was only 2 vehicles allowed at any sighting. Our guide Jason was very knowledgeable and very passionate about the animals and their conservation. The lodges were very nice, comfortable and the views stunning, outside area around the fire was lovely beneath the stars. I would definitely recommend anyone to go there.

"Great game experience but poor hospitality."

As South Africans that have experienced countless bush holidays we felt compelled to review this Lodge which is hugely over priced for the quality of the accommodation and the poor hospitality. On the positive side, the game ranger was good and the quantity and diversity of game was excellent. On the hospitality side, no welcome drink, our car stayed parked outside the lodge, had to find and help ourselves to pre-lunch drinks, wine is limited to one Estate which is from the very affordable range (Tall Horse). Had to ask for serving spoons for the salad, no serviettes at the lunch table. The cheese and tomato sandwiches and cake (part of the lunch offering) were presented as the afternoon tea offering as well. Main course for dinner was a choice of chicken or lamb, chicken was a deep fried fillet, small and overcooked. Two pieces of roast lamb was tasty but not filling. On retiring to the room, the little candles were placed around the bath but no matches to light them, the cushions from the outdoor furniture were piled in a heap in the corner (the square cushions could have been neatly stacked). The aircon is placed in the corner of the room above the cupboard and blows onto the top of the cupboard. The bathroom and the shower had many cracked tiles. The Lodge has potential but the current offering does not justify the five star prices being charged!

"Excellent place, park, staff, food, everything"

We spent our last days of our SA trip at this beautiful reserve. The stay was amazing, the staff is friendly the rooms are very comfortable clean and with amazing views over the reserve. Tim welcomed us and he and his staff made sure we were serviced with everything we desired and showed some really interesting insides about Africa and the reserve. The game drives were very interesting both nicky and jason are two excellent guides who provide you with information about the animals and the nature that really blows you away. Also the rules they have in the safari are very animal friendly, their top priority is to make sure that the animals can live as natural as possible which for me is a big plus. The owner Gilles is a very friendly person who joined us at the table for some good talks and again very interesting insights about the reserve and the history of the place. He even made a special wish of my niece come through to go horsebackriding in the bush, thank you so much for this the look on her face when she came back said it all! If you want a good game reserve good lodge which has everything to offer and is animalfriendly aswell dont look any further and book your stay today!

"an amazing climax to our SA trip"

We spent 3 days here over New Year with our 2 teenage children and had an amazing time. The family chalet was comfortable with welcome air conditioning for the 37 degree heat. We had 2 fantastic game drives each day and saw all the animals on our wish list except the elusive leopard (not surprising) but also saw some unexpected things like a porcupine with 3 babies and lots of tortoises and mongoose. Our knowledgeable ranger (Nikki) was lovely and especially good with my son who has a learning disability- she made it really special for him. The food was generally good and plenty of it, served at a big communal table, which was great fun. The staff went out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. It was the perfect way to end our holiday and we have made some wonderful memories and some new friends.

"Excellent Honeymoon! High Recommend to Anyone"

We had an amazing honeymoon at Woodbury Lodge. From the minute we arrived the staff did everything to ensure we were comfortable. The room was very nice and comfortable. Each room feels very private and has its own balcony overlooking the reserve. You will be able to spot all kinds of animals from the safety and comfort of your private balcony each day. Don't forget your swimsuit it you hope to spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool. Internet is available in the main areas. There is a printer if needed to print boarding passes. Our guide, Nikki, was extremely knowledgable about the animals, reserve, and the local culture. We enjoyed all of our drives and meals with her. The entire camp eats meals together. Our meals ranged from 6-14 people. We found these to be highly enjoyable and learned so much from others throughout the world. The food was excellent and you will not go hungry. You typically have tea/coffee before the morning drive (5 AM in summer), breakfast at 9 am, lunch at 2 pm, and dinner at 8 pm. During both the morning and afternoon drive, you will have a snack and beverage of your choice. We could not have asked for better game drives. We were able to view lions within 30-40 feet, rhinos, elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, water buffalo and countless other animals. I would highly recommend staying for 3 nights to ensure you see everything you want to see. This is a private game reserve. They take great pride in the animals, facilities and land. The tracking of these animals is up to the guides. There are no apps that alert others as to the where about of the animals. We really enjoyed learning how to track with our guide. There were also people in our group who wanted to sit back and just take things in. You will get what you want out of the experience. To be transparent, we did not see leopards. Having been on a prior safari, even though we did not see the leopard, our experience here was second to none and better than the previous safari. We would highly recommend this reserve and facility to anyone. We look forward to returning in the future.
