Over Elements of Byron

"Relaxing, refreshing and revitalising"

Just a wonderful few days chilling by the pool and walking along the beach. Our cabin was wonderful, clean, stylish and comfortable. The pool area is vast and relaxing and the restaurant was great service and great food.

"So happy to be back at Elements of Byron!"

I just love this stunning resort! It's always too long between visits. Elements of Byron, again exceeded all expectations. Having now been open for almost a year, I noticed this time that the gardens are a lot more well established and looking absolutely beautiful. Each time we visit I notice something new, this time it was a really cool caravan beach bar. Love the idea of having a few casual drinks in the afternoon, laying on a lounge, cocktail in hand, whilst looking over Belongil Beach as the sun goes down. Honestly, you couldn't beat this experience! Just up the hill a bit, they have a stunning area that sits up high over Belongil Beach, with views across to the lighthouse, it's usually used for functions/weddings, however they also have complimentary yoga sessions at sunrise (First Light Club). What an awesome way to start the day! I invited an artist friend to spend some time with me on this visit and being an artist, she was so impressed with the artistic design features and the variety of art pieces used throughout the resort to make it something totally unique. She also loved the way that the design features blend so beautifully with nature. One of my favourite things are the cosy little nooks, swing chairs and cabana's to relax in. I always find somewhere special to suit my mood at the time. If I'm by the pool, I like the cabana's so that I can keep out of the direct sun. If I want to chill with a good book, I find a swinging, cane egg seat (that hang under big huge trees with views to the beach) and just lose myself in my book. On the rare occasion that I want to bake in the sun a little, I jump in one of the big swinging chairs over the water in the adults only pool area. Honestly, no matter how you feel at the time, there's a place for everyone. There's nothing ordinary about the menu at Elements. They not only use locally sourced produce, but I was surprised to find out on this trip that their mussels are actually delivered live, you can't get any more fresh than that. Of course I had to try a mussel dish after seeing it arrive at the next table on our first night. What a surprise, this dish looked fantastic and tasted even better! It was a very generous serve of fresh mussels in a tomato/basil sauce. Absolutely delicious! The mussels were so huge and plump. Just wish I'd taken some more photo's of the creative meals that we had over this stay. After talking about this resort for the past year (having had several visits last year), I'm so glad that my friend finally got to see what all the fuss was about! Even if you can only get there for a night, it's worth it just to enjoy the firepit area. It's such a great place. My husband and I have had lovely quiet nights there enjoying pre-dinner drinks and nibbles. However it's also a great place to meet other guests. On Friday nights you can enjoy 'Fire Pit Friday', where they have musician's and nibbles by the firepit. I didn't do it on this last stay but have really enjoyed these nights during other visits. I just love, love, love my visits to Elements of Byron and I'm not the only one! I just found out that Elements of Byron have recently received a very prestigious award. Not sure exactly, but I believe it was 'Best Hotel Design - International Design Excellence Awards - sounds very important to me ;o) So, clearly I'm not the only person that thinks this resort is Stunning and very unique! ;o) This is a 'Must Visit' resort!

"Nice resort, could do much better with the Food."

Lovely resort. Weather was great. Clearly a lot of thought went into the design and planning of this place, which I must say is great. The accomodation are huts/villas, evenly spaced around the property. The location of the resort is approx. 3.5kms from Byron town centre itself. If you like beach walks, then this place will suit you to a tee. Nice flat beach which can be walked easily in sneakers/runners, however you will need to remove them to walk across the stream/ creek running into the ocean. It's a 30min beach walk into town. The staff were very accomodating at this resort. Very friendly and happy to help, although it's clear the resort like to hire international staff, which some are a little hard to understand and vice versa with the english language. The room we stayed in was a one bedroom and was close to the beach and was lovely listening to the waves roll in every night. The room was very luxurious, couldn't fault it at all except for the toilet doors incredibly loud squeak which if I was to stay a few more nights I would have had them attend to rectifying it. The Pool was fantastic. The cabanas around the pool were great, but make sure you get in early on HOT DAYS to get one otherwise you will miss out. Access to all areas is easy and a bit of a walk from some of the rooms/huts The place is inundated with a massive population of Frogs. And if you're not careful you might happen to step on one and the baby frogs are hard to see so be careful. My only negative with the place was the FOOD. Besides the breakfast, the food selection for lunch and dinner was very limited (same menu) for lunch and dinner and was surprised to see the same menu was available on the ROOM SERVICE menu also. We ordered 4 meals from the selection in the period of time we stayed and each meal was either very small in portion or tasted terrible. The staff asked us if everything was ok after our meal and we politely told them what we thought and the response was "Sorry" and were proceeded to be charged even though 3/4 of a couple of the meals had been left due to poor taste. If the food situation could be rectified I'd give this place an excellent rating. Perhaps ordering meals from businesses off site and have them delivered would be the best thing to do. Would I stay there again? Yes more than likely, if they rectified the food issues.

"Elements is a monument to the glorious wonder of luxury"

We stayed at Elements for six nights and the whole stay was absolutely dream-like. Make no mistake - this is the sort of luxurious resort that is almost entirely absent on the mainland of Australia and the standard by which competitors should be judged. Anyone who has room to gripe about their experiences here is probably either a fool or the sort of nitpicker who'd find fault in anything. Elements is perfection. We stayed in a standard cabin which, upon first arrival, greeted us like a shiny beacon. The room was brilliantly designed. It was a marvelous unification of form and function into what was probably the most usable and most beautiful room I've ever had the pleasure of staying in. A sizable walk-through wardrobe, modern bathtub, separate lounge area, rain-shower shower head and an engulfing bed were the highlights. Being separate cabins also granted us plenty of privacy - we didn't hear anything but wildlife of a night time. Breakfast was a sensation. I've seen wondrous buffets in my time on this earth, but nothing that came close to the sensational spread on offer. Most places are content to offer plain ol' supermarket loafs for their toast -- not our dear ol' Elements. Instead, they offered a house-baked variety including a delicious sourdough. A delicious array of fresh fruits (toasted coconut -- yummo!) and to top it off, coconuts with cute little straws to sip out the delicious coconut milk. You could opt for basic brewed coffee, or pay a few dollars extra for a totally rad barista-made alternative. Breakfast made the start to every day an absolute wonder. Dining was also bloody sensational too. After the first few meals, we could never quite motivate ourselves to leave for dinner. We did try the Sun Bistro up the road one time, which offered an entirely utilitarian dinner option, but quickly slunk back to the usual dining options at the resort after that. Also worth a mention: I love a good mai-tai but it's almost impossible to get a good one anywhere in the world outside of Los Angeles. (Don't get me started on those nightmarish concoctions they label as mai-tais in Hawaii... a horrifying perversion of a cocktail classic.) Anyway, the bar staff at Elements sure made a mean mai-tai. Good work lads! Next up, the pool. Now, we spent most of our days out and about, exploring the region, so I can't speak to the availability of the pool area during the day. Our daily routine involved smashing down a bit of grub for dinner and then retreating to an entirely empty pool at about 7pm. Being the height of summer, it was still ridiculously warm at this time of evening and, I kid you not, every night we did this there wasn't a single other person in the pool with us. It was like we stumbled on some sort of hidden secret. Whatever the case, it was marvelous. Two study thumbs up. There are some other rad little features at the resort. The Beach Club is a nice touch - a caravan serving some basic food and drinks out by the resort's beach outlook. There's a tennis court (which we didn't use) and some swing chairs by a lagoon (which we did use.) The beach immediately outside the resort is huge and largely empty. If you turn right out the gate and wander along the beach for about a hundred metres, there's seemingly an unofficial nude beach if that's your kind of thing. And lastly, given it's bushy location, there are a whole cast of interesting wildlife friends who you might bump into on your stay. So, to summarise, Elements is basically perfect in every way and if you have the option of staying there, you should. When word gets out, it'll be the benchmark beach resort in the Eastern coast of Australia.

"Great resort shocking food!"

The resort is just over a year old so everything is very fresh. We stayed in a beachside cabin and I must say that being in unattached cabins really does give you a lot of privacy and not having to worry about hearing people getting out of a lift, other peoples room service or general rowdy neighbours is an extra bonus. Can't fault the accomodation...it's one of the best! Staff are also very friendly and accomodating. Food was it's major downfall, which isn't an issue if you order in a local pizza (which we did) or go to the local Sun Bistro which is great and highly recommend (about 400 metres up the road and very new). It was a little disappointing when on the two occasions we ate at the resort, other than breakfast, we were asked if "everything was ok?" Both times we said we weren't happy with the meals...both times we got a 'oh sorry about that' and were still charged.... Well why even ask???? In our opinion...the menu was trying to be something too fancy and failed badly...it never hit the mark and we soon learnt that all the menus were the same be it pool side, restaurant or room service....very disappointing! Other than that it was a good experience and loved the poolside cabanas!
