Cairns is een ideaal begin- of eindpunt van uw rondreis Australië. Er heerst hier een gezellige atmosfeer. Langs de boulevard zijn er namelijk verschillende bars en restaurants te vinden, en ook aan winkels is geen gebrek.
"Was once one of Cairns Premier resort."
We were there for 2 days to attend my best friend's daughter's wedding. The first thing I noticed was that every time you saw a staff member they said "G'day" to you. I enjoyed that. :o) Checked into the room (colonial Room) and found it quite acceptable for the price we had paid. Air Con struggled with the humidity, but did work. Went down for dinner in the main restaurant about 8.15 and joined the rest of our group and waited for dinner. Our group got theirs and we still waited. 40 minutes later we were told that they hadn't given our order to the chefs and that they had finished for the night. Oh well, we ended up getting Chinese take away from Edge Hill which was good. Next morning I awoke to a very noisy Air Con and very sore back. The mattress on the bed was rock hard and very uncomfortable. I went down to reception immediately and asked to be shifted to another room. I think Toshie(receptionist) took pity on me due to the way I looked and arranged for us to be moved to a better room straight away. She was really nice. The next room (studio) was Brilliant. Things just got better and better from there. The wedding went off without a hitch except for the rain and the reception was fantastic. We had a ball. The only bad thing after all that was that a lot of the guests for the wedding were staying at the resort and were told that the one price was for all guests and breakfast was included. This wasn't the case and there was a lot of disgruntled people that paid more for the same rooms than the others. Some had breakfast included and some didn't. I suggest to the resort that if they have a "wedding" package that they had a information sheet that states what is included and what's not. I know that 2 particular separate guests were really upset that they had to pay more. It certainly ruined their wedding attendance.Overall, the staff were really happy people and the wedding was Fantastic. The resort is desperately in need of a dire makeover, but I believe it is due to be done this year. Funnily enough, the Brides father was one of the painters that originally painted the resort before it opened in the early 90's. :o)
"The Worst Hotel I have ever stayed at!"
If you like getting woken up atleast 20 times within the night, this is the hotel for you! The walls are paper thin so anyone who talks wakes you up (and I am a deep sleeper). This is most certainly not a 4 star resort. It isnt even worth one cent I spent on this place. To enlighten you on my stay here I have listed all the things that are terrible here! 1. Requested early check in as we just docked from a cruise ship that morning. We were told there was a wedding and they are requesting an early check in aswell. I called up 4 weeks ago letting them know of my travel plans but yet still no organisation on their part to arrange something. Receptionist advised she will call me as soon as my room is ready, I went to the local shops to by some time and suprise suprise no phone call! Yet when I return my keys were sitting on the bench for god knows how long, even after I told them I was knackered and really needed sleep. 2. I asked if someone will be taking our bags on a trolley to our room for us. It is just my mother and I so manoeuvring 2 big suitcases each is fairly difficult. I was then told no with a smile? What the hell? I then trecked through the 11 acre overgrown property to find my room after 20 minutes moving these bags around. 3. As I entered the room I wasn't the slightest bit suprised. The decor is old and out dated, the bed has only 2 sheets on it! No doona!! The pillows are like laying on two bricks and bed is like laying on stone! Our fridge was making this awful loud noise so when I spoke to reception about it they just told me to turn it off? I asked for towels if that was the case as I dont want the freezer to defrost and have water everwhere. And suprise suprise still waiting on those towels! 3. There is a clear sign that there is no maintenance person. The gardens are well overgrown and massive sleeper logs have grown over onto the walk ways. The paving around the resort has lifted and it is uneven- massive safety hazard and I don't understand how a 4 star resort hasnt fixed this. 4. We dined at the Homestead Resturant. No suprise here. Well over priced and the food that was served I wouldnt even feed to my dog. The pork was well overcooked to the point it was dry and dark dark grey not white and juicey. The coleslaw was clearly out of the packet with mayo chucked in it, and the best part of the meal was the chips! $34 for chips, how dissapointing. 5. We then went to bed and got woken up at 12pm from the wedding function being over. People yelling and screaming. I called reception and asked for a refund and to speak to a manager in the morning because by this put i was furious! I was told I couldnt get a refund because I paid through flightcenter. She asked me if I wanted to sent security around and my reply was "I don't care what you do, I am a hotel guest aswell and this is appauling service and behaviour" after that conversation I finally just get back to sleep and I have security knock on my door! I did not ask for them to come interrupt me in the earlier hours of the morning!! They knocked on my door acting like police advising me the noise has clearly stopped. Well state the obvious captain hence why I was able to just get back asleep!! Then once they left and I just got back to sleep the 3 time reception rings the room phone! Are they actually serious? This is rude and appauling behaviour. The walls are paper thin, so guess what 6.00am this morning everyone else decided that because they were awake so should we! We came to this hotel for one night before we fly out for a rest. But have had nothing but no sleep and dissapointment the hole time. Nothing suprises me with this lot!!! Save your money and spend it in a proper 4 star hotel like the Pullman Casino, service with a smile! That was our first hotel arriving in Cairns and could not fault the place!!!
This is definitely not a 4 star hotel and not a resort of any kind! Firstly it took several attempts to find our room, which was down a road with huge potholes. Garden surrounds, very unkempt, so this should have been a clue as to what was next. Room was very neglected and out of date. Needs a huge makeover! If this is 4 stars, then my home is The Ritz! Appalling, we asked for a refund. Don't go there!!!
"Great pools, basic rooms"
The pools were great for the kids. The room was old and needs a facelift. The kids slept on pullout sofa beds that were springy and uncomfortable. Tropical garden paths are well maintained. We spent most of our time in Cairns out in town or on the reef, so didn't spend much time at the hotel. We had a hire car so didn't mind that hotel is away from the action.
"Nice and relex place"
We have been only one night. The room is largh and you have coffee and milk. The garden and pool are nice and clean.very largh place , so you have to walk a lot , to find some thing....the price is high...so we were looking for an hostel .the place is near the Air Port.
