"Pleasant Stay Even With A Cyclone"

   05-04-2018
It's a very interesting place with bungalows scattered throughout the rainforest along the beaches north of Cairns. Unfortunately we arrived just as Queensland was being inundated with heavy rains from Cyclone Nora. It was so bad that over 23 inches of rain fell in 24 hours which caused 9 mudslides along the Captain Cook Highway and closed the road (that's another story). With the heavy rains there was very little to do as you couldn't use the pools or stay on the beach (which is what we were looking forward to do). The staff, especially Jane and Greg, were great and very helpful, and day drinking on Saturday became the orders of the day. Our special dinner on the beach with our two adult kids to celebrate our 28 wedding anniversary had to be moved to a secluded covered patio, but the food and wine were delicious and the local group of wallabies decided to join us for the meal on the adjacent lawn. The only downside was that the breakfast buffet could have offered a bit more variety. However it may have been purposely limited as it was the off-season with only a limited number of guests. For those who complained about the mold, the insect repellent, and stagnant lagoons; well it is a rainforest so what did you expect? Being an environmental consultant I was more than pleased as to how the resort was incorporated into the rainforest without causing major disruption to the local environment. Oh, and our bed in Bungalow No. 1 was great. I probably would have rated the resort high but we just couldn't enjoy what the resort had to offer due to the rain, and the rain, and the rain.

"Keep looking!"

   22-03-2018
My partner and I booked and paid for five nights here for a well overdue break in beautiful Far North Queensland. Needless to say, we stayed for one night, and left the next morning, even though it meant forfeiting the money paid. Our “bungalow “ is merely one of those portable cabins that you would commonly stay in at a caravan park, complete with a swamp view and mould on the walls. It is definitely private as long as you have copious amounts of insect repellent. The bed was awful, the bath no more than a foot deep, and the room lacked a desk- my partner was hoping to get some study done whilst away. The grounds themselves, apart from the stagnant lagoon, are peaceful and well landscaped. The accommodation however, is certainly not worth the high price tag. Avoid, and look at Palm Cove 5 minutes North. Many excellent resorts which we were luckily enough to find at short notice.

"Rainforest meets beach this is it"

   20-03-2018
After 2 weeks in luxury hotels this was a nice change. The chalets/huts/rooms were fine and beds comfortable. what a lovely experience this was though. Beach literally 200 yards away great beach and views. The main resort bar/restaurant, closer than the beach in another direction, with a couple of small pools that were fine for a relaxing splash. We had a tour group meal that was going to be a bbq but with the inclement weather changed, so, we had a superb buffet in the dining room area

"Looking for Seclusion?"

   14-03-2018
The Resort is the place to be for people not looking for action but for nature and solitude. We had a Pandanus bungalow (no. 47) next to the lower pool and close to the main building with the open air restaurant. The bungalow was spacious with a shining wood floor and an elegant interior. The bathroom (parquet floor and red brown granite) had a bathtub and a shower cabin. The resort garden with its eucalypt trees and a small lagoon is a little paradise for wallabies and birds. At the adjoining beach hotel guests are provided with sunbeds. The open lounge and the bar area are stylish. The Paperbark Restaurant offers good cuisine. And we also went down to the Beach Shack one evening where you could peel your prawns by the bucket and sip your cocktail while watching the sun set behind the ocean. It is a bit secluded, and three nights had been enough for us (bearing in mind that we wanted to make the most of our 11 weeks in Australia). But Kewarra Beach Resort was among the ten best addresses of our vacation - with friendly and attentive staff like Julianne (and her straight kahluas - hi there from Germany!).

"Paradise in the Jungle on a Beach"

Spectacular resort on the beach surrounded by lush tropical land. The rooms are modern and clean and very inviting. Wake up to beautiful tropical birds and wild wallabies! The staff is over the top helpful. We suggest you find some local spots for dinner.
