Over Daintree Wilderness Lodge

"incredible fresh local food! A perfect night away!"

We absolutely loved our night away! We are friends with Dave and Jen anyway and they are doing a fantastic job there! Everything is clean, food is beautiful and the surrounding is serene! Can't wait for next time! Kier & Alex x

"Fabulous Stay"

We have just had 2 nights at this Lodge. It is only a 100 meters or so off the road, but once you turn into it you really are in another world. There are only 7 lodges, each reached by its own boardwalk and nestled in the forest so there is a feel of isolation and privacy. The managers Jenny and David have only been in situ since Xmas, however their previous experience in hospitality shines through. We were the only guests for the two evenings we were there and it felt like we were guests at their house, nothing was too much trouble. David is a fabulous chef and the food was truly lovely. They joined us for a drink each evening after dinner and we got to know them a little. It really was like staying with friends, they are very enjoyable company. Loved it.

"Amazing location, Amazing hosts, Amazing food, Amazing wildlife, Amazing experience!"

Sirli and Isaac were amazing hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Upon arrival we were the only guests in house making our private bungalow in the Daintree so much more special. Sirli was attentive, gracious and always there when needed, Isaac provided us with amazing meals throughout our stay (as well as a couple of wildlife encounters that were unexpected but wonderful). I cannot recommend this destination enough, friendly management, comfortable & stunning accommodations, fabulous meals, nature and wildlife on your doorstep...........

"Enjoyed every second! "

We arrived here about 11am after driving up from Port Douglas. Straight away David came out to us and told us to hurry through to reception so we could see the resident cassowary. There was an American couple who had been staying for 5 days and this was their first sight of the cassowary, so we were very lucky to have seen her. Once we'd taken a few photos and stood in awe of this beautiful bird, we checked in. Jennifer introduced herself and checked us in promptly. I'd like to stress that the lodge is now under new management since previous reviews, David and Jennifer are a wonderful couple with so much experience and knowledge in the hospitality field. They really do have a passion for the wildlife that surrounds them and David is a pretty mean chef too!! Jennifer booked us onto a crocodile sightseeing trip we wanted to do and would of happily booked anything else we asked. The lodge in which we stayed was clean and had everything you needed. Shower gel/shampoo/conditioner and a dental kit was provided. It's true that the cabins let in a lot of light but that wasn't an issue for us. We used the hot tub spa whilst we were there and towels were provided. As we went in low season the accommodation wasn't full but if you ever needed anything Jennifer and David were never far away to assist. As previously mentioned the food was really good, breakfast was a massive plate of fresh fruit with juice/tea/coffee and then a choice of muesli, croissants or bacon and eggs. Dinner is extra but well worth the money and hassle of having to try and find somewhere to eat. If you are staying here I would say you definitely need a car, we explored the Daintree right up to Cape Tribulation beach and without a car you would've felt pretty isolated. We were staying here for Australia Day and as a Public holiday we thought the restaurant may have been closed, this wasn't the case and even though we were the only guests dining that evening, the restaurant was open and food as tasty as ever. I would definitely recommend staying here whilst visiting the Daintree, and we hope to be back soon. Thanks Jennifer and David for a wonderful stay :) Jodie and Lloyd

"Gorgeous Location and Lodge"

The Wilderness Lodge is a beautiful place to stay in this area. Each room is very clean and has everything you could need. Be prepared to be up early as the cabin is designed to let a lot of light in. You would never know that there are other cabins around you. The place is very peaceful. The lodge to us seemed like it was well taken care of, which of course must be hard to do given how the area is quite isolated. Breakfast was nice and they supplied as much tea or coffee as we wanted. If you do not want to eat dinner at the lodge there are other places for dinner within a 5-10 minute drive. We really enjoyed our stay and it is a beautiful part of the country. We would definitely stay here again.
