"Special treat getaway"
We just had the most beautiful weekend at this lodge, special celebration, finally some time off together. Kind of the trip of the year. Everything was just beautiful from the personal welcome on arrival, the best room, private, spacious, luxurious, most delicious dinners and very attentive and personal service. The location is great to just relax and unwind or explore the Daintree on day trips. We did both and this was a wonderful combination. Our only comment would be the pricing of the wines list. We would have enjoyed a bottle each night, finally time to indulge and enjoy with these beautiful meals but the prices are just too high. If you ever look for a special treat for somebody, this is it. Thank you all
"A true rainforest experience ."
A true rainforest experience. Beautiful treehouse cabins with big spa. Ideal for a romantic holiday. The staff are so friendly. Restaurant is truely world class and in such a beautiful setting. The Mossman river runs past the lodge and is cool and clean and wonderful way to cool off . I would recommend this resort to anyone who wants to chill out and revive.
We stayed at Silky Oaks Lodge for 3 days to celebrate a birthday. We visited the Spa each day for a lovely massage - most relaxing. One day we organized a picnic lunch and headed down to the river - what a great spot!! This is a complete getaway - no televisions in the rooms/villas. The restaurant/ main building is built high above the Mossman river - great food and service. Also magnificent views overlooking the Mossman River. 10/10!!
"Specactular rainforest treetop accommodation and dining with service excellence led from the top man"
Stayed at Silky Oaks for 3 days recently and really enjoyed this complete transformation of scenery , rooms and level of service. We loved the rooms that were well equipped and enjoying the tree top views. Sounds of wildlife and canopy of the forest just makes it unique, and the balcony hammock just made the whole thing serene especially with the candles and specially chosen music in the room- nice attention to detail. The restaurant enjoys the envied position overlooking the river that you can swim and canoe in, it's a really lovely setting for breakfast and lunch. In the evening the area transforms itself into a well lit area which is the ideal setting for the quality of the cuisine, providing some of the best fish I have tasted. The 3km walk up the valley is a must as is the swim in the cool river in one of its slower moving billabongs. On the one occasion there was a service issue the staff reacted extremely well but to top it all the owner came to see us and add his apologies- they really turned a negative into a huge positive and me into an even bigger fan. A beautiful spa adds to the experience.
"Perfect end to our honeymoon"
My husband and I stayed at Silky Oaks for three nights at the end of our honeymoon. We'd spent the previous two weeks travelling up the Australian east coast in a camper van so we were very much looking forward to a bit of luxury! Thankfully, it did not disappoint. We stayed in a Daintree Treehouse right at the far end of the resort and it really did feel like we were in the depth of the rainforest. Our balcony (complete with an amazing hammock) was completely private and we had an amazing view of the rainforest. We managed to spot some local wildlife as well, including a snake which we haven't been able to identify. Don't worry though, the tree houses are on stilts so they can't get in! If you like fine dining, then you will love the restaurant. As a vegetarian there was a lack of options for me on the menu however the chef was more than happy to come up with something different for me. The only downside is that the restaurant is quite expensive and you don't really have much choice but to eat there unless you can get transport to Port Douglas 30 minutes away. But then again, this is a luxury resort and it seemed right to us to experience proper fine dining, something we don't do enough of in England! The waiting staff in the restaurant are all absolutely lovely, especially Keisha and her husband. They took the time to speak to us every time we were in the restaurant and this really did make it feel personal. In fact, all of the staff we spoke to were absolutely lovely and very welcoming, including the team on reception. We both made the most of the gym, which had a small variety of equipment including a cross trainer, running machine and weights. I spent a good few hours around the pool as well, which was so relaxing. It is a quirky pool which is surrounded by trees, so you really do get the authentic rainforest experience when you're lying on a sun lounger. For two of the three mornings during our stay I took advantage of the yoga classes on offer. The teacher, Erin, is absolutely fantastic and they were up there with the best yoga classes I've ever done. I learnt so much from Erin and I highly recommend doing her classes before breakfast - it really sets you up for the day. There are a couple of walking trails which start from the resort, which we did during our stay. You can order a hamper from the kitchen and take it with you. We did this and it was really lovely and relaxing eating sandwiches by the Fig Tree Rapids. If you're after a quiet, relaxing break away from it all in the rainforest then I highly recommend Silky Oaks. Relaxing in a luxurious setting in a gorgeous part of Queensland - what more could you ask for? We absolutely loved it and were gutted to leave and go back to normal life!
