"Not worth it"

Not worth the money. Dirty and unfriendly staff. Beach stinks of nasty sea weed. Didn’t have a decent meal at any of the restaurants. For similar rates you could find a lot nicer places to visit than this.

"relaxing"

This was our 2nd stay in the Palm bungalows. The are great for couples. We like to stay in No. 22 as it has an enclosed lawn which encourages the wallabies to visit. 1 day we had 5 and 1 had a little joey. 2 of them had a boxing fight. It wasn't vicious just fun play. There is now a new large supermarket which is very reasonable. They sell cooked chickens etc. and food that you can microwave. We don't use the restaurants on Hamilton as they are quite expensive and we enjoy self catering. The 2 swimming pools are lovely and a good temperature. Breakfast was included and we ate at sails. The choice was excellent. The only thing that lets them down is that the food is not kept hot and the cooked breakfast was cold every day.

"Two night stay at Bungalows"

Had a lovely stay at the bungalows, the beauty of them is you get the benefits of the resort without being in a multi storey building, my only issue with them was no insect screens on front doors which would have been lovely to have doors open. If staying for an extended time I would look at an apartment because unfortunately accommodation is quite expensive.

"Family visit in Winter "

The Bungalows were close to the Reef Hotel where we were able to use shared facilities like the pool and buffet breakfast. We stayed in Bungalow 14 and it was in a great position! Staying at Palm Bungalows you are able to use many of the pools on the Island which is great. You get to take advantage of free hire of the kayaks, SUPS etc. Kids under 12 also eat free which surprisingly saves a lot of money! The staff we encountered everywhere were really amazing. Not just at the Reef Hotel, but all the restaurants we dined at and everywhere on the Island, including Cruise Whitsundays. This was a real standout for me! We’re from the Gold Coast which is a tourism hot spot, but the service you encounter is pretty average. Hamo Island is completely different, everyone is there to help make your holiday good. Everyone says hi, smiles, asks you how your holiday is going etc. I was surprised reading some of the bad reviews about the hotel because nothing they said was similar to our stay, in fact the absolute opposite? I rely on reviews quite often to get a feel for accommodation, I’m so glad I didn’t take notice of the negative reviews, we would’ve missed out on an amazing holiday. We also took advantage of the free hire of a pram, this meant we didn’t have to lug ours over! The rooms were clean and serviced daily, they always have fresh beach towels they provide also. If you happen to be out on a day trip with your towels, they’ll still leave fresh ones. The rooms were pleasant and comfortable, clean and serviced well. The only tiny downside to the room were the little ants that would visit the kitchenette! Every time you’d wipe everything down they’d come back again searching for crumbs. The included Buffet Breakfast was good, lots of offerings, fresh fruit was amazing and it opens early which is great. The pool in front of the Reef Hotel which you can use, is set at a temperature of 27 degrees, I wish we had known this at the start of our holiday and not the last day because we would’ve used it way more (given we visited in Winter). We did ask a staff member earlier on in our stay (she worked at the restaurant though) and she said she didn’t think any pools were heated. So, now you know! If you’re there in Winter - use this pool! I can’t rate this holiday destination and accommodation enough, it was awesome.

"Congratulations to all concerned"

Hamilton Island I love you. Ok, so I haven't travelled as much as some, but this is the most beautiful place I've been so far. I don't want to retire to Port Douglas anymore - Hamilton Island will do me just fine. As a tourist, you will find it has FULLY recovered from the 2016 cyclone. The entire island is immaculate, the bungalows are so much better than similar "cabins" in caravan parks, the staff are inconspicuous until you need them then they're so helpful. We did a 4 night package with Virgin and whilst one more day would have been perfect, our 4 nights were great. You can't go wrong with any of the accommodation here. For food, you have a choice from self-cater from IGA to cheap to expensive - it's up to you. Do everything or do nothing. Well done. I will be back. My only "complaint" - rubbish bins, not enough / a little far apart (see? i'm really scraping the bottom of the bin to come up with that one)
