Kings Canyon is een imposante kloof en een absoluut hoogtepunt tijdens uw reis door de Outback van Australië.

"Connect with nature and disconnect with the office."

We have just returned from Kings Canyon Resort as part of our trip to the Northern Territory. I was not really sure what to expect and must say I was very surprised with this little place in the middle of Australia. It is miles away from any major centre but we felt really at home in the resort. We spent 3 nights there and were told by others that would be more than enough. As we were leaving, we wished we could spend more time there. We loved visiting the canyon and doing the rim walk (if you do it make sure you take the time to visit the Garden of Eden). The views were spectacular. But what we really enjoyed was the community feel at the resort. At night we headed to the Outback BBQ where there was a great entertainer Brett Hartley keeping everyone amused. A bit of a larrakin he had us all up singing and dancing and this then led to everyone having a bit of a chat and drink around the fire. It was a great way to break the ice and talk to other travellers. We had the most fun on those nights out of our entire holiday as conversation flowed and we made new friends. The food was really good and the breakfast at Carmichael's restaurant was a brilliant way to fuel up for the day ahead. The breakfast chef Phil was another great character and he made the most awesome omelettes. We also enjoyed an evening meal at Carmichael's and the wait staff were always friendly. In particularly Donna at our evening meal, Shane at breakfast and Maddy at the bar (all the staff were great but they are a few names I remember). All round it was a fantastic few days made even better by the fact that there was no phone or internet (unless you wanted to hook into their satellite) which meant we could totally relax and not have the office contact us. We will be back.

"Ok as far as it goes"

The campground is in a good location with a view over Kings Canyon and surrounding ranges. I had a small tent so my needs were pretty modest. I had a nice patch of grass near the pool away from the caravans. Could easily access a small camp kitchen and amenities block. The outback bbq was big a d friendly, and for $30 got a barra with jacket potato and unlimited vegies. At the more up market Carmichaels restaurant you can get away from the throng and have a different more expensive dining experience. There's a sunset viewing platform where you can buy a beer to drink while watching the sun hit the ranges.

"Our third visit and we will definitely be back"

Visited with my elderly mother The resort is very comfortable and the staff are very helpful We each had the standard rooms which were very clean and comfortable We watched the sunset both nights from the resorts sunset viewing area which was excellent We had breakfast at the restaurant both days and the food and staff were good We also had dinner Carmichael's restaurant one night and the food and service was very good The area is well worth a visit and even my elderly mother managed to walk up the stream walk as she was not up to the canyon rim walk We finished with a helicopter flight over the canyon which was excellent and would recommend this to anyone visiting the area

"Pleasant Stay"

After two nights in Glen Helen we descended on Kings Canyon before our trip to Uluru. We had a great pitch (powered campervan site) at the far end of the campsite with great views of the Canyon rim. Probably my favourite pitch site of our trip due to the abundance of trees, and the dingoes wandering around (completely non-aggressive). Only 6km from the Canyon rim walk, which was great, and an interesting talk by the local ranger about the area and wildlife. The toilet/shower block was absolutely fine and cleaned regularly (late at night). The bar was okay and the bar staff nice, although the microwaved pizzas (and I will eat any pizza!) left a little to be desired. All in all it did what it said on the tin and we were happy staying there for 3 nights and would definitely stay again.

"Kings canyon is deinately worth the visit........"

We travelled out to Kings from Alice Springs for a 2 nights stay before heading onto Uluru. We booked 2 x Deluxe Rooms at the Kings Canyon Resort. We really liked the rooms - the bath with a view was just beautiful and perfect to have a glass of wine while soaking and admiring the view. We ate at the BBQ near the camp area on the first night - it was ok, nothing spectacular. Atmosphere is quite good with love music. The second night we ate at the main restaurant. Food was nice and the outlook lovely. It was expensive but it was so nice to have a quality restaurant experience. The standard rooms which are down near the camp area looked VERY basic so if you can afford it stay in the main resort. Kings Canyon rim walk was a highlight for us. Well worth the trip and I think more spectacular than Kata Juta. So if you are in the red centre, don't miss Kings Canyon - even if you can only spare one night.
