Over DULC Holiday Cabins

We first stayed at DULC in 2005 as a family of four (kids 5 and 7). It was fabulous. There was only one cabin at that time; the twin bedroom. The cabin is secluded and private, abuts the national park, but is just a five to ten minute drive from town. The kids had a blast exploring the surrounding area (with eagle eyed supervision of course). In the early evenings we had a troop of big greys (kangaroos) hopping across the back of our cabin. It was perfectly luxurious to be able to step out of the cabin at night, breathe the freshest of air and look up to see a sky of sparkling diamonds. So many stars. A city slicker like me was completely mesmerised by stars that were not marred by light pollution. The cabin itself was beautiful. A veritable floor to ceiling log cabin but modernised enough so as not to feel dated. Great beds. Well appointed kitchenette and dining place. Lovely fireplace and sitting area. I loved that the toilet was in a cubicle separate from the shower. We visited DULC again in June of 2016. Our now teens loved the place as much as before. It lived up to our memories (thank goodness, cause many places do not). This time we did not see the troop of greys, but we did manage to spy a joey or maybe it was just a small kangaroo every other day or so. We did however find emu foot/ claw/ hoof (?) prints and kangaroo prints as well during our walks. The only gripe I have about the place is the shower. The shower head has an awful spray that wets the entire bathroom. So the towels, tissue box and whatever you have in there gets completely damp. In the winter, that is not nice. That is why I gave the place 4 instead of 5 stars. We will definitely be back! The kids had a blast. The cabin was surrounded by wilderness.
"Super place to get away"
We had a road trip planned taking is from Adelaide to Melbourne and one of our stopping points was Halls Gap. We were looking forward to DULC and was not disappointed. The cabin we had was an open space living with kitchen and eating area giving way to lounge and finally a sleeping / bedroom area. Bathroom was adjacent to that. What was most impressive was that one wall was virtually all glass (windows and patio doors) giving a most impressive vista onto the woodland outside. There were other cabins around but they all melted into the woods so it seemed as we were the only people there. The accommodation was tastefully fitted out with much timber in the walls and polished granite floors with bright cushions and seating in the eating area - with views onto the woods. The Grampians and DULC has been one of the highlights of our trip. Impressive scenery (though we couldn't get to much of it because the park was closed because of flooding) but even so a distinctly different Australia we hadn't seen before.
"Superb, luxurious stay...."
We've just spent two nights there, and I can honestly say that our cabin - number one - was absolutely excellent. Everything we needed was there, an enormous comfy bed, air con, wifi, gas log fire, tv/dvd (unused...)! and the quality of the fittings and condiments was first class, from the toaster to the toiletries. No doing it on the cheap here. We ate breakfast this morning watching a couple of kangaroos doing the same, about 5 metres away. The cabins are well secluded from one another, and the bushland and trees around them make for a real 'back to nature' experience. Knocks our UK 'Centreparcs' into the cold. Just superb.
Rated 4/41 on Trip Advisor and very highly on Booking.com, we had a 2-bed cabin with just one bathroom. Quite well-equipped with a gas fire (cosy), plenty of storage, and deck with BBQ, this cabin is spacious and the combination of wood and glass (lots of glass) makes for a chic unit; a bit different. We liked it a lot; rating 9/10.
"Tranquil TreeHouse living in amongst the trees"
We came to the DULC cabins for a weekend away. Being our fist time in Halls Gap we couldn't be more impressed with the accomodation of the TreeHouse. The service was fantastic. the accomodation was stylish, modern and clean - overall our weekend away was the perfect escape. We would highly recommend DULC to anyone looking for a getaway amongst the trees
