"Great new year stay!"
We booked a one bedroom apartment and checked in on Dec 31 and stayed until Jan 4. Great location. Close to casino, convention centre, and lots of sights. Free tram shuttle stops right outside the building. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Restaurant was unexpectantly closed during our stay, but was not really an issue for us. Would stay here again.
"This could be so much better!"
We stayed at this hotel on two separate occasions. We noticed just prior to arriving that the hotel is under renovation. This did not bode well as I would not choose to stay anywhere that was being renovated as it indicates that it is in need of work. I therefore made contact and asked if we could stay in a renovated apartment. When we arrived we were shown to an apartment that was spacious but very tired. Stains on carpets, the bathroom was in poor condition and the kitchen area was not clean. We had to clean the fridge before we could use it. The furniture was all glassed topped but the dining table had no glass just the plastic stoppers which should have held it in place. The bedroom had a spare bed in it which was some sort of camp bed. This made the bedroom seem small and it was quite ugly! The apartment needed a good clean as it was dusty in places. However, it was spacious. Housekeeping during this stay was not good, and we felt the minimum was being done each day. When we left we requested a refurbished room for our second stay and this request was acted on and we had a better apartment. The furniture was new and modern and the bathroom was all new. There was still a stained carpet and it didn't look as if the rooms had all been redecorated as the woodwork was badly marked and knocked. The fridge was dirty, someone had split something sticky in it which was still there and it was on the floor surrounding the fridge. After I cleaned the fridge I wiped the floor which was in need of a thorough clean. The washing machine and drier both had problems with them and did not work properly. There were new pans in the kitchen but no one had bothered to remove the labels, so when they were put on the hob the label stuck to the hob. I carefully removed the stuck on labels. The staff are all pleasant but appear to be stressed. So it appears that there is a problem with the housekeeping and no one seems to be checking that everything works in the apartments. We agreed an extended check out with reception which we know was logged but we were contacted several times when we were packing up to ask when we were leaving. All the above are easily fixed. These apartments when finished should be getting 5 star reviews. But housekeeping needs improving and checks need to be done to make sure all the equipment is working.
"Great location big rooms."
Clean and tidy hotel. Parking was easy. Provided high chair, cot and toy box for my toddler which was helpful. Stayed at Christmas and they left chocolates in the room. Good hotel, housekeeping was a bit hit and miss, forgot to replace towels multiple times, didn't know about late check out, but were also great and cleaned the kitchen on one day I left it messy so helpful too. Rooms were big!
"My young son and my stay in Melbourne"
Excellent room and brilliant location. Very disappointed and surprised that the pool, gym and sauna were unavailable due to renovations. This was not stated on the website when booking or on the day before we arrived. It is the main criteria my son wants at an hotel.
There are good days and there are bad days during my stay in Adina Queen Street. I arrived with my boyfriend and his family on Christmas Day. We have pre-booked an apartment with 3 bedrooms before we arrived in Melbourne. Upon arrival, we were told that the unit that we have booked before is currently under renovation. But no worries, all good, we were given 3 other units (loft apartments with 1 bedroom each, located at the penthouse's floor) in exchange to that one unit. Okay now here comes the bad part, when we're moving our stuffs to the room, one of the concierge offered us a hand with our luggages. It was not until long after we settled in our own room that we realized one of the luggages was missing and it's the one that the concierge handled. Apparently, he left that luggage in the previous lift when we have to changed lift that go right to the penthouse's floor. The worst part is he didn't say sorry and just said "here you go." when we're already panicking (because there's a laptop in that bag). Another bad thing is that the two out of three units that we were given has a broken AC. With such a hot weather during summer, we can't really tolerate having a room with a broken AC. We asked to change units. At first, they told us that it's okay and maybe we're not used to the weather yet. Coming from Jakarta, Indonesia, we are used to this kind of weather and we know when the AC is not working. Anyways, there's no drama or anything. Soon, we were given new units which is a lot better. Also another thing that I would consider as bad is that the cleaning service doesn't do their job thoroughly. I spilled some of my moisturizer by accident on the bathroom and they didn't clean it (not even touching it), leaving some gooey creamy substance just like that in the bathroom floor. Oh yes, another thing is that I found someone else's underwear left in the washing machine at the first unit they offered us. Gross! Okay, now comes the good part! We left Melbourne for 3 days to Hobart, Tasmania and back to Adina again during New Year. You know what? The 3 bedroom unit that we booked before is now available! It's amazing and everything is working just fine. AC, laundries, everything! No complain whatsoever. Speaking of location, this place is a heavenly place for me! It's only 7 minutes walk to Emporium Shopping Centre and around 10 mins walk to Chinatown. There is a lot of awesome coffee shops (Patricia, Naked Espresso, Brother Baba) and breakfast spots around (La Petite Creperie, Manchester Press, Larder Section), not to mention Subway, Nando and convinience stores that is just a minute walk away. Also, there's a tram station nearby and it is very easy to find a taxi here. Since it is not exactly located in the middle of the town, I love the idea of coming home to a much more quiet side of CBD after a long day. The view is also lovely is your unit is at least located at 15th floor or above. Oh yea, another thing worth mentioning is that they got a gym. Pretty small but if you just want to do your cardio early in the morning, that can do. There's also an indoor swimming pool and sauna.
