Melbourne, de hoofdstad van de staat Victoria, is de meest stijlvolle en kosmopolitische stad van Australië.In Melbourne gebeurt altijd iets.
Stayed here to attend a conference. Be aware that this hotel is attached to and run by the Pullman Hotel but the Mercure is definitely the poor cousin. The rooms are tired, especially the bathrooms, the shower is over the bath and the tap came apart when I turned it, the grout is marked and falling out and the toilet needs to be double flushed. The room is small but very serviceable, nice sofa to sit on and a great desk area. All the power points are near the desk so you can’t charge your phone by the bed. Kettle and cups are supplied, the TV worked well and Wifi was included and worked well. Thankfully you can use the gym etc like any other guest and this area is great. When booking, be clear about inclusions like breakfast as this is an extra $35. We enjoyed the bar area of the Pullman. Across the road is Albert Park, a lovely 5 km run/walk around the lake
"Great Business Hotel"
I have stayed here before. Just couple of minutes from the city centre and opposite Albert Park. Nice touch with a welcome cookies (I think for Accor Gold only). Bonus is that there is paid parking ($20 for self park & $32 otherwise / Valet). Good reception area and bar. Rooms are ok for business and spacious. Only downside is the "car police" lady at the front of the hotel. I just arrived and wanted to check in but she insisted I use valet or self drive parking. I said I wanted to check in first but she said ok if it was 5 minutes? Huh?? Maybe a one-off? Anyway the rate was good even after parking so advantage in being an Accor member. Just think that a discount on parking for members would be a nice touch.
"Dirty and old hotel with ZERO STANDARDS"
I recently stayed at this hotel for a large conference. I was shocked immediately at the state of the rooms. Very obvious that the rooms are terribly dated and worn. They have replaced white shower tiles with faded yellow tiles which was hilarious. At 4am my bathroom sink filled up with water and hair (not mine) and wouldn’t empty. The plumbing from other rooms is so noisy, all night you can hear pipes scraping and gurgling away. The bathroom also had its fair share of mould around the sink. On my last night the heater was stuck on, it was a hot night too. Their solution was a fan.... until I demanded a new room. Ordered room service breakfast and ticked ‘freshly squeezed juice’ and it was clearly cheap bottled juice poured into a glass so that was a blatant lie. Got a 4am wake up call I never asked for. During my companies gala dinner in their function room, the room was extremely well lit and so hot. Even after multiple people complained about the heat, they did nothing. Why would you have the room that bright during a dinner like that? It all just made for a very uncomfortable night. It was one thing after another and it just demonstrates their lack of standards. Melbourne has so many options so I would be amazed if this hotel has any repeat customers. Would never step foot back in this place and have lost all respect for the Accor group.
"Expensive for what it offers"
Not in the center, by cab not too far. ALbert park in front of the hotel. Rooms old and worn, bathroom was dirty, elevator was dirty. This is not my best experience with Mercure. Wifi didn't work very well. There is work to do at Mercure Albert Park
"Comfortable and quiet"
All the typical services and features you expect of a Mercure -- except, on a Sunday night the restaurant shut at 9pm, and the overnight room service menu was poor. Otherwise, rooms were quiet, clean, air con worked. Amazing that all Asian hotels offer free internet, but Australian ones still charge.
