"ok, peaceful and quiet"

   18-02-2017
rooms are nice and clean but there is small ants.there was also gekko in our room. so safe your food! local food was spicy but there was also fried chicken, potatoes, pasta etc..there should be something for kids(like fries or sausages or something.kids own table would be nice. my little one don't eat curries or other spicy foods so it was difficult to find food for her. desserts were ok but had enough jelly or pudding during holiday.fresh fruits were good. there was evenings when non-spicy food and fruits was out. so we had only rice and weggies. bbq-evening was nice.food was good. all inclusive drinks are very mild. we thought about tap beer, was it diluted..? i had 7 beers at pool and felt nothing.outside hotel i had one bottle beer and i was almost drunk :) gym was small and upstair was large almost empty room with tabletennis and billiard. i could almost see huge well equipped gym there. bike rental was nice. we had nice time cycling around. i recommend anthoneys tours.(he also have small shop and restaurant just next to hotel gate)he sells nice trips to yala-safari and whalewatching(we saw leopards and bluewhales and lots of elephants and other animals). train trip was also good! anthoney walks many times a day at beach.remember to bargain :) nice place but there is not much things to do around. nice if you need peace and time to rest. that's what i looked for and i got it!! thank you ranweli!!

"nice and quite"

Had a lovely stay here after the long journey and adjusting to the time difference.About a 45 minute taxi ride to the hotel through very busy roads. When you arrive at the hotel you have to cross the river on a punted raft, probably 40 metres from one side to the other. Reception was very prompt with a cool drink and a cold towel, your bags are taken from the raft to your room, the guy wont let you carry your own bag, even though his ankle was heavily bandaged, bless him. Rooms are very tidy with good air con and nice shower.Very large bed with petals over every night.British plug sockets and also the odd 2 pin socket.Good fridge, very cold on full power.Rooms are spread out all over the grounds, some are round the back with no sea view, dont think you would want to be back there.Ask for a sea view.We had a room right near the bar area which we thought might be a noise problem, but no as every body seemed to disapair by 9.30pm. Plus you could get wi fi in our room. Food was very nice, but you have to be there on time as they don't` seem to replace the food that runs out.Breakfast for me was very disappointing, a island like Sri Lanka with all the fruit they produce, and they open a few tins of fruit tut!! Take a canoe out for free, great fun and well worth doing. Also we took a bike ride which they hire out.Everybody waves and say hello and goodbye and the kids love to see you. If you want a trip out go and see Anthony who owns the restaurant just outside the main entrance. You will also see him on the beach front near the pool. Dont be frightened of him he will give you a nice deal but give him a ha-gal Beers if your not AI are about £1.80 for a small and a large bottle £4. There are mosquitoes so take something to keep them off. They have plug in mossy repellent in the rooms.TV in room but not much to watch, BBC World service . Check your bill on check out!! tried to charge us a lot extra, but they did apologise for there mistake. Would i go back or recommend, not sure i would go back but i would recommend.

"Honeymoon stay , late 20s couple "

   15-02-2017
Firstly, thanks for a wonderful stay and thank you for our complimentary garden dinner and 20 min free food massage for our honeymoon. Very nice touch! Location- best location ever for us as right on the sea , so tranquil, out of the way of everything but we did enjoy the walks and boat rides to get to the hustle and bustle of Sri Lanka. Don't expect to go out for nightlife as there's nothing close. Service/staff- lovely, very humble and welcoming, never had any problems with language, not pushy at all, smart dressed and overall good service. However, I feel like around the pool and at dinner you should be waited on for drinks regardless of if you are Half Board/All inclusive, we often had to ask to be served and go to bar ourselves. Value for money- Drinks are very expensive for Sri Lanka and if you like your alcohol, expect to spend a lot more money than you had planned. We were half board and ended up upgrading to All Inclusive for a few days as we were spending an extra €60-€70 a day on lunch in the hotel and drinks when half board. There's nowhere in the hotel to buy snacks/drinks so you have to leave by boat to get to the local supermarket and even there they don't sell alcohol of any kind. Facilities- Evening entertainment had a lot to be desired! This is what brought down my score tbh. There is either violin, sax player, piano or a band for a couple hours at night but that's it. There's nothing at all to do except return to your room around 9pm. It's too dark to walk along the beach, pitch black. There is a room above the bar with a pool table and table tennis however it's a very large room and not inviting at all so we refrained from going in. I feel like there's loads of potential here, you could include a gaming console/board games/computers with wifi or something fun to do in the evenings. One pool for during the day, stunning beach on your doorstep, pool bar with drinks and snacks for all inclusive or lunch available for people who want to order as they are half board. Massage area and rooms need to be cleaner and more air conditioned. Rooms-large and pretty. Comfy bed and spotlessly clean, sheets changed and towels changed whenever you want. Rooms sweeped and beds done daily. Cleanliness-don't be scared of the odd ant family surrounding your but of chocolate that you leave lying around because this is what we done. The place is spotless and the staff work tirelessly sweeping, cleaning and cleaning. Food & Drinks-drinks should be stronger so they are better value for money and glasses should be cleared away at dinner and in the bar quicker than they do. I recommmend a king coconut water lying by the pool! Good was delicious and there was plenty variety for even fussy eaters. We had a 4 course meal every night at the buffet with soup, appetiser/salad, Main then dessert. We loved the traditional Sri Lankan food so much! But the roast potatoes and chicken in gravy with veg was equally as delicious. I do think that there should be ice cream available as a dessert though. Things that could be improved- 1.please....advise customers before they arrive that they need to bring money in a credit card or debit card as you do not accept cash for any additional food/drinks/massages/room service etc . 2.reception area should be more inviting with plants or photographs of guests or comfortable seating with cushions 3.have computers with wifi available for guests in reception or in pool room (pay as you go) 4.Honeymooners should get free upgrade to superior sea view rooms and a dinner on the beach in the evening 5.theme night at least twice a week with a show or entertainment (magician or singer or dancers etc) 6.please cover desserts and appetisers to avoid flies lying in them 7.offer varied spa treatments, only 2 hour massage was on offer and play relaxing music in spa as well as having air conditioner/fan on 8.sell snacks like crisps/biscuits/fruits/water/nuts in your shop so you can pay with cash

"Lovely resort but spoiled by all inclusive"

   13-02-2017
We stayed here for 3 nights at start of our holiday in Sri Lanka. The resort is in a lovely isolated location. The refurbished sea view chalets are good and overall it's a very nice place. Spoiled though by focus on all inclusive packages. Almost impossible to get a decent a la carte or room service meal or even a nice glass of wine. Could be a genuinely nice 4/5* but is really only 2/3*.

"Very nice place"

   11-02-2017
We were very positively surprised with the location of the place. Beautiful setting in a lush green vegetation. The resort is kept extremely clean. The room was sooooo nice. Perfect size, very clean, lovely arranged, bathroom was nice and bright. Extremely accommodating. I loved it. A big let down was the service/order taking in Room Service. We have ordered Room Service on several occasions. They only managed to get it right once. Issue was, that the person taking the order did not speak proper English and did not seem to have been trained well. When addressing the issue to the Front Office Manager, he seemed more interested in his phone call than listening to an disappointed customer in front of him. The food in Room Service was amazing though!! Well done Chef :o) Then the massage (this is a third company, not the hotel!). STAY AWAY! Already when walking in the place, I felt uncomfortable. But still, I thought I would give it a chance. The massage was not a massage at all, but more oiling the body. Also, the noise from the kitchen was to hear and it was too hot in the 'room'. After a while, the girl asked me to turn on my belly. The smell coming from below the massage bed was so awful and overwhelming that I decided to stop the massage and leave. This certainly has nothing to do with the resort, as the massage place is just located in the resort, but not part of it. Safe the money and invest in something else. The breakfast buffet was very sumptuous, could improve on quality though. Suggestion to the management, the arrival lobby could be created a bit warmer and more welcoming. Possibly with plants? Overall, the stay was very pleasant and I would definitively return.
