"A fun winter escape if you follow some advice "

We had a mixed experience, but plan to return again this year having learned some lessons last year. I recommend the hotel with some guidance. Pay the extra amount for an upgraded room. The basic rooms (which may or may not have been upgraded) were pretty basic. We needed to ask to be moved as our first room was rough. After getting a second room we made it work. It's not a five star property, but as long as you acknowledge it going into your stay you should be fine. We traveled with a group of friends so this wasn't a big deal for us. The beach is a short 7 minute walk from the main campus of the hotel (across a street), once you are there it's fine. Bring beach shoes as it's rocky if you go swimming. The common areas of the hotel can be a bit tired/in need of TLC here and there. The staff is friendly and helpful. The other guests also happened to be friendly and made the challenges with some parts of our stay less important. If this is your first trip to Curacao be sure to book some dinners before you get there. The island isn't great for foodies, but if you get in at the top restaurants you'll be fine. The restaurant at the hotel was fine if you get lazy one night. Arrange cabs in advance at the front desk.

"Not impress"

I was very excited to book this hotel as it was very much my kind of style and a place I would like to stay. However, I was definitely disappointed. Upon checking in, it seemed as though the room I had booked was not available and was told that I was being "upgraded" to a Junior Suite. Not sure if it was an upgrade or a downgrade. The bathroom was dirty - toilet covered in poop stain. Paint peeling off from the floor. The white curtain was covered with brown stains. The fuse blew on our second night and the AC and fridge wasn't working. It took an entire day and after several requests for maintenance to come. Pool is dirty and a section of it smells like sewer. Females are not allowed in the sauna after 6pm as it was male only since it's a gay-friendly hotel. Hence, I never had a chance to check it out since my bf and I would be out exploring the whole day and by the time we get back to the hotel it's too late for us to relax in the sauna. They only provide transportation to the town twice a day at 9am and 4pm which is not ideal. The only good thing was the 2 free drinks (house wine or beer) during happy hour from 5-6pm daily. This hotel has a lot of potential but it is poorly maintained and just lacking in every way.

"Your money worth!"

we stayed for 4 days, we love this hotel and will be back. staff is friendly and attentive (except for the restaurant) rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. it is not to far from the town, and taxi is reasonable price! spa amenities are also nice, dont leave the bad reviews turn you away it is worth every pennyyyy!

"Spacious rooms, beautiful garden, gay-friendly"

We had booked a junior suite for 13 nights. It was a spacious room, the bathroom was equipped with a shower, washing table, and WC, and there was a kitchenette with two burners, a microwave with grill, fridge with freezer compartment, and some kitchen and dining utensils. We had a huge terrace too with dining table, chairs, and two beach chairs. The place is friendly, the cleaning woman (Fanny) and some other staff were gems (and very LGBT-friendly). The property is situated in a beautiful tropical garden with huge palm trees, iguanas, and whistling tree frogs that give a concert at night. Each Friday there was a reception with live music and two free drinks per person in the open lobby, and each night there's a happy hour witha free drink at the pool bar. The pool is spacious and has different areas for swimming, sitting, or lounging in the water. Lots of beach chairs around the pool, and even two pavilions that come in handy during the rain showers, which occur frequently during rainy season. The rooms have air conditioning and a safe box. The property is supervised well, free parking on the premises, close to the building. Supermarket is a 10-minute drive away, So is Otrobanda. Punda 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic. Most of the negative points aren't the fault of the hotel, but still worth mentioning for other travelers. The property is downwind from the local oil refinery, and the smell from the industrial fumes (comparable to burnt rubber) can give asthmatic travelers a hard time. We were there in rainy season (December), and the mosquitoes were hell, so we couldn't really make use of the terrace without being attacked immediately. Hotel staff said they do spray, but clearly that didn't help a lot. The hotel grants free access to two beach clubs, Moomba and Pirate Bay, both are a 5-10-minute walk downhill. They're both rather small, and staff is snotty and not very pleasant in both. No good snorkeling in either, as visibility is low and most corals are dead there. Better check out the public beaches in the northwest, or some of the other (paid) hotel beaches, e.g. Avila or Blue Bay. One thing the hotel could improve on is the kitchen equipment. Being vegans we knew we would have a hard time dining out on an island that doesn't even know what vegans eat as the standard diet consists of large amounts of fish, seafood, meat, and dairy, often without any sizeable amount of vegetables at all (except fries and/or rice). That's why we booked a suite with kitchen, but there was only very basic equipment. We had to cut our veggies with bread knives (!), the cutting board was tiny (just big enough for one tomato at a time), there were no bowls, no colander, no cooking spoons, and the frying pans were a mess as everything stuck to them.

"Fair for the Price."

My overall impression here was "acceptable". Nothing is outstanding, but unless you are a very finicky traveler you should be fine. We stayed here mostly because having a full kitchen in the room saved us having to eat out (and most of the walkable restaurants nearby are not worth bothering with, so thank goodness we could cook.) This hotel is not close to much, so you'll need to rent a car or be willing to pay $15 for a one way taxi into town. There is a free shuttle to town twice a day, but you'll have to take a taxi back to the hotel. Hotel is not on the beach, but you can walk to it, and its a nice beach. You can snorkel there and see plenty of fish and some coral, but the provided lounge chairs were mostly broken (unless you want to pay for a nicer one). The hotels pool area is peaceful and lush and green, but the downside to that is the pool was never clean, and after rain smelled pretty terrible. The staff were not bad, but nor were they particularly eager to help. The workout and spa area are obviously new and in good shape, everything else is past its prime and could really use a renovation.
