"Almost on the beach"
Following a long dusty desert drive this friendly hotel was an oasis from which to recover, with in a few minutes we were enjoying the fresh sea breezes with a braising walk along the beach. The en-suite room was comfortable and being on the 3rd floor the lift was very welcome. The dinning was in the next door Bistro Zum Kaiser as was the bar, I was a little disappointed that when returning from a meal out of town we discovered that the Bistro bar closed, so it was early to bed.
"a little gem in central swakop"
what a nice hotel. in city centre, but beautiful setting, nice rooms, fantastic views from the roof. walking distance to shops and beach. delicious food, great service and trueally great value for money.
"Good location and friendly welcome"
We really liked this hotel. We'd come from the dessert and the weather on the cost was cool and foggy. The welcome at the hotel was warm and staff very helpful and friendly. The hot water bottle in the bed was very welcome. The location is close to both the jetty and the town with its shops banks etc. The tourist office is within easy walking distance as well. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. The dining room in the adjacent estaurant is quite small but the food and service was excellent and the choice at the buffet was good. Our room was spacious and had a good sized fridge, a sizeable terrace (although no view other than a car park) and comfortable beds. Wifi was a little erratic particularly on apple devices but the staff were happy to assist with setup. As mentioned by others there are a number of street sellers in the area who can be quite persistent but we didn't feel threatened. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
"Nice Little Seaside Hotel"
We stayed in a Standard Luxury Room for two nights. Our room was comfortable and had a nice view of the ocean (when it wasn't foggy). The room was chilly when we arrived (it was winter), but the heater worked well, and it soon warmed up. The bathroom was big and beautiful, but there was a little bit of mold on the windowsill--not really surprising in such a damp climate. We had trouble with the room safe. It wouldn't open, and when we went downstairs to ask for assistance, we were told the person who could open it had gone home for the day, and we'd have to wait for her to come back. We went back and kept trying and finally got it open. After that, we didn't use it. Breakfast was wonderful. We didn't realize at first that we would be able to order hot dishes in addition to what was set out at the buffet, so that made it even better! The reception area had a cozy sitting area for when we were waiting for our shuttle for our scenic flight. The location was convenient--close to restaurants, such as The Tug, banks, shops, etc. However, some people might find it a bit sketchy. We were approached by people trying to sell us souvenirs both near the hotel and outside The Tug. They said they wanted to sell things rather than beg for money. We did not feel in any way threatened by these people. We gave them food, and had an interesting conversation with a couple of them. Some people might be put off by this, however. The other issue that might bother some people is that there is a school across the street and the kids arrive very early. School starts at 7 a.m. there, and the kids start arriving to play at about 6:30. We wanted to be up early, so it wasn't a big deal for us, and we enjoyed the glimpse of everyday life in Swakopmund. If you want to sleep in on a weekday, though, you may want to request a room facing away from the school. Overall, the room was comfortable and we enjoyed our stay, in spite of some minor issues.
"Comfortable small hotel"
Nice small hotel by the coast. We had been travelling most of the day from the heat of the Namib Desert, on arrival.we were warmly welcomed. Our rooms were very pleasant and our room had a little balcony with a fairly good view of the sea. After coming from the very hot climate of the desert we were quite cold but the hotel had put hot water bottles in the beds to help us cope with the change in temperature, very thoughtful. The buffet breakfast and dinner choice was not extensive but good quality and tasty. Staff were obliging and helpful. Hotel was in excellent location for seafront and shopping/cafe area.
