"Family holiday"

We were looked after really well here. Our room was nice and spacious. Aircon and fan worked well together and plenty of room to have a very active 18 month old. TV channels were good. Nick channel was a plus in the morning. Free Tropical breaky yummy! No need to order anything from the menu. Fresh juice, muffins, plentiful fruit, selection of cereal and breads to toast with spreads. Even gluten free weetbix which was great for our son but we had brought his anyways but good to know for future. Only let down was one night we had dinner at the restaurant and asked for the dairy free ice cream. My son is dairy, egg and peanut free. We made it quite clear but out comes three different ice creams covered in whipped cream! Waitress just rolled her eyes and took it back. It came back with one flavour which would make you think that they were never told of our request. If you have allergies just double check they had given you what you asked for. Other than that, it has been an awesome experience. Will be back again to make use of the coral club :)

"Fantastic place for a family holiday"

I had read many reviews on Tripadvisor about the Edgewater prior to us heading over for 18 days during Christmas and New Year and have to admit I was a little anxious about the condition of the rooms and the service that we were likely to have. To put it in perspective, we are a family of 2 adults and three kids aged 6, 8 and 10. We lead very busy lives and were in need of recharging our batteries after a very hectic year. We wanted to just chill. When my husband told me that he had booked for 19 days I was a tad apprehensive as it seemed an awful long time in one place. Oh how very wrong I was! Room - We stayed in a two garden view rooms which had a joining door. The room was spacious, clean, well air conditioned, the bathroom big and the shower pressure fantastic (the pressure is always important!!). We hired a microwave for $20 for the length of our stay and we took with us snacks, drinks, and meals that we could cook in the microwave. Our bed was really comfortable and because we had two joining rooms. One had a double (for an adult) and two singles (2 kids) and the other had a double (1 adult) and 1 single( 1 kid) so plenty of beds. We only used two doubles and one single! They were really comfy. Each room had aircon, fan, bar fridge, TV will 9 channels and safe. Resort Staff - 5Star - amazing - all friendly, willing to help, smiling, worked so hard and made it so enjoyable. Nothing was a bother. Except for the older lady on reception with greying hair (G.R.U.M.P.Y even if just asking to borrow the tennis rackets!) Cleanliness - the grounds were well maintained. The servicing of our room was haphazardous but was no big deal as we stayed throughout the Christmas and new year period. We pretty made our beds and swept our room every day however, clean towels were delivered every day without fault. When we requested fresh sheets we got them and while we were happy to change them I am sure they would have too. Roosters - the posts I read prior to coming to Edgewater indicate that the roosters are a pest. To put it in perspective - yes there are roosters, yes they crow, not every morning in front of your room at 5.30pm. We were on ground level rooms for 18 days and I think I only got woken twice by a rooster. No big deal! Breakfast, restaurant and cocktails - the breakfast buffet was really impressive, lots of fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurt and muffins. Our daughter is gluten free and that was catered for. If you go hungry you must be extremely fussy. The meals that you can buy are really reasonably priced and great portions. Heaps of options and well priced. Cocktails - ummmm happy hour is an excellent time to taste test them all especially if you have 19 days to do so! Need I say anymore. Kids club - our kids (6, 8 and 10) went to kids clubs heaps of times. They opted in and out of activities. The staff were really friendly. A really laid back attitude which was great to see. The kids made the decisions rather than the staff as to when they had enough of one activity and time to move onto the next. Our kids really loved it. While they chose not to go to every session they would have happily gone if we insisted. Every night except saturdays they can watch a movie of their choice from 7-9pm. Pool and sea - again, having read on tripadvisor prior to going about how small the pool was and being overridden by kids. That was not the case for us. The pool was big enough for all. I swam and never felt overtaken by kids or copious numbers. The chlorine levels were really high as on the last day we threw our kids togs out as they had literally perished. Take goggles for the kids. It has a cool slide. The sea is literally a stone throw from the pool. Snorkelling is good especially if never snorkelled before. We took our own snorkel and aqua shoes but you can borrow them from the resort. Activities - take part in the activities the resort offered. If you don't try Ika Mata (fresh marinated fish) activity you are crazy. Dancing, head lei's, crab racing and lots more. Just do what you want. Transport - we brought a bus concession card which cost $30 for 10 adult trips or $19 for 10 kids trips. You buy it from the bus driver. The bus comes past reception every hour. You catch the clockwise bus if heading to town which only takes about 10-15minutes. Alternatively, you can hire a car at reception area if you want. We got one for three days for $240 but really only need it for two. We absolutely loved our stay at Edgewater, everyone was really, really friendly and helpful. If you are a family like us, I highly recommend Edgewater resort. We will be back! Thank you so much. I only wish we had booked for 28 days!

"Wonderful Resort to relax"

We are a family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers 14 and 16. Our time at the resort was from the 22 Dec to 26 Dec 16. Arriving in the wee hours we were greeted by a lovely friendly night manager called June. We unfortunately couldn't have our Christmas Lunch at the resort as it was fully booked however there were some other hotels/resorts still taking bookings and decided on the Islander Hotel very close to the airport. Couldn't fault the buffet. The food at the Edgewater is very good. We didn't order any hot breakfast as there was more than sufficient at the breakfast buffet to choose from. The resort is kept clean and staff are very friendly. Rooms were sufficient for our needs, as all we needed were clean beds made up daily, swept floors and clean bathroom and towels. Beds were good and air conditioner/heatpump worked great. Our shower was like standing under a waterfall. It was great. We stayed in the garden rooms row 900 and it was sheltered from any island night music etc. We didn't have any problem as far as noise from the pool area. Only if you do mind been woken early with the crowing of a few roosters that cruise the area, you may want to stay in a different section. Although we did curse them a few times we did get used to them. If you have hired a car for your time on the island that's great. Book directly online for better prices on there website. If not, the island bus comes through the resort every hour at the cost of about $5 pp. Very relaxed island no need for high heels as you will feel out of place. Bring a good hair conditioner as we did feel our hair felt as if it needed it. For those who feel the first cool breeze to come through you may want to take a thin long sleeve for the evenings. The children are prone for mozzie bites but we found them very weak in bite and appearance. Also the smallest ants we have ever seen will visit if you leave any food out. No problem to get supplies from the Supermarkets. So many places to eat around the island. Had a laugh playing tennis, ping pong and pool. Great Coconut club for the smaller children and snorkeling was great too, just off the beach in front. We really enjoyed our stay on the island and at the Edgewater. We look forward to one day going back.

"Garden villas"

These villas are fantastic, three bedrooms, two bathrooms. Like a home away from home. Not on the beach, just a short walk to the beach and main activities area though. Family friendly with daily activities and fun. Feed fish, go snorkelling and the best sunsets in rarotonga. Recommend it.

"Great business hotel!"

I recently stayed at the Edgewater Resort on business and found it to be a great hotel for any business travellers. The hotel is situated only 10 minutes from the hotel, and has all of the facilities you need! The breakfast is simple but good, the views are amazing and the staff are very friendly! The internet does come at a cost, but is fast internet and worth the money.
