Aitutaki, ten westen van Rarotonga, is intiemer en heeft evenals Rarotonga prachtige witte stranden en een azuurblauwe zee, wat uw verblijf in de Stille Oceaan zo aantrekkelijk maakt.
"Very friendly staff and great location"
We stayed for 7 nights and enjoyed our stay. Our first night was in a different room, as they had overbooked, but we were given $100 resort credit for the inconvenience, which we spent on food and beverage. Rooms are nice enough, but could do with a bit more wow factor. We had a bit of an ant problem but there was spray provided to get rid of them. The annoying thing was the roosters and their wake up call at 4am in the morning!
"lovely relaxing place,"
Great staff, friendly especially, Peter Pan (activities) Esther and Lenore, only bad comment was from Mene (bar staff) who referred to our friend as a "bloody Kiwi", that kiwi is helping to pay your wages buddy. Would go back though food and over all experience just great.
"Did all the essential things well but could have a bit more wow factor"
I stayed for four nights. The cost was reasonable and included a continental breakfast each morning. The room was clean and had plenty of space and all the necessary amenities. Breakfast was pretty good with the usual fare plus fresh coconut and nice fresh muffins each day. They also had wifi but it was pretty expensive and ran out very quickly. I would recommend getting a blue sky account - much better value. Also included was free snorkeling gear which I used on the final day to look at the sealife and coral right in front of the resort. This was a nice bonus. They also had a car hire place on site (Polynesian car rentals) which was most helpful and a good way to go around the island and yes the island night was excellent!
"Worst experience ever! Please so not stay here."
We were extremely disappointed and annoyed with The Edgewater having spent all that money and looking forward to our trip to end up staying in this dump. It was lucky we know Raro well and have been so many times to be able to make it fun and enjoy it anyway. On our first night The Edgewater we didn’t sleep at all; the curtains were so light and all the lights were left on outside till morning, including the rooms beside us so it was like floodlights, bright enough to read a book, so frustrating. Not only that, it was so noisy, they put us in a room that was “pool view†when we had paid to upgrade to a lagoon view. It was very loud right in front of the pool with there being something on every single night. At 9.05pm on the first night just after our 3 year old daughter had finally fallen asleep, there was a man banging loudly on our door yelling to come in - he worked there and wanted to check our TV signal! He was told to go away. We couldn't believe it! There were people thumping and banging and running around above us all night, kids yelling at midnight and roosters woke us at 5am EVERY morning. After the first night we asked to swap rooms, they said no they’re fully booked, we then asked the following two days and again no help, (tried to voice our concerns/issues) they didn’t care and didn’t ask/offer a solution. We were turned away each time. We didn't come on holiday to be complaining the whole time and this is how it was feeling! I had to ask them several times to turn the outside lights off and then we ended up hanging towels and blankets along the curtain rail to block out the lights! Ridiculous! We had people for the island night show getting changed and practising (yelling, singing, playing instruments) right outside our door till well after 10pm two separate nights (one of those nights we had to walk all the way around to get to our room as we couldn’t get past, they had blocked our access), also on the Saturday island night, they took two of our chairs from the patio which had our togs drying on them, they moved our togs and put them on the table, so rude!! There were people yelling all hours and restaurant staff cleaning up after a wedding at 6am clanking bottles and cutlery. The service on the whole was terrible, (apart from the guys in the activity hut) they were rude and it seemed like we were a total inconvenience for them. On our second night we went to have dinner at their restaurant, were told to sit wherever we liked so we got a table, waited 10 minutes and no one came over to give us menus/drinks yet there were staff standing around and looking at us, so I went and asked, got one lady come over and throw down ONE menu in front of my husband and walk off without a word! We couldn’t believe this especially as we had our 3 year old daughter with us. We walked out and went elsewhere! The beds were so old, uncomfortable and so noisy, you couldn’t move because of the noise if you were to roll over. The toilet also smelled like a public toilet from when we arrived. The pool also stunk of urine and was not suitable for little kids - it was deep for me. So all in all we would NOT recommend The Edgewater to anyone, it was seriously one thing after another, it was not restful or relaxing at all, we hardly slept and the place was always loud and noisy with rude staff. We will be back for our annual trip to Raro next year and will be avoiding anything to do with The Edgewater.
"Loved the Island Night ..."
Wouldn't stay here as the resort itself is fairly dilapidated, however the Tuesday night Island night offered a delicious buffet and the cultural show was excellent. Great night out for the family. Does seem a little disorganised at the bar with all the ticket writing.
