Firstly they had our arrival mixed up, so needed to upgrade us to a room! The room had a rattly rusted out fridge, the only mirror had the brown backing over it, the main door did not shut properly. The shower faucets were 2 different ones and you were lucky if you got hot water daily. The safe did not work! Parking was a premium. The food and cocktails were expensive. Breakfast was poor with lack of variety and only 2 tropical fruits. The rest was boring. In the end we ventured out for meals and only returned to sleep which was impossible as the locals use this joint regularly and our neighbors seem to think being rowdy till the wee hours of the morning was exceptable. We love Raro and only continued our stay in this location as we were part of a large group.
"Edge water resort and spa"
We stayed in a villa where the roof leaked, fans weren’t working appropriately, the shower box filled up every time someone showered, and a/c that was too small for the place. Other than that it was a pleasant stay. The staff were very accommodating and friendly.
"Great location - activities to under take"
Great location; friendly staff; great activity hut; great bar; great place one could say. The accommodation is good, the food is what ever you like - great choices and variety. Different activities each day to participate in. The beach was great for snorkeling, the pool for relaxing, the bar for a cool cold cocktail or beer.
"Hasn't changed in 20 years!"
Attended a wedding here so the location was chosen for us. Had stayed at the Edgewater some 20 odd years ago and it hasn't changed one bit. The hotel is in great need of some TLC, the restaurant was disappointing (not a lot of fresh produce). That said, the rooms were spacious, the beach great for sunbathing and swimming and the staff were very friendly.
"Good Value for Money"
My partner and I travelled over to Rarotonga from the 1st-8th of February 2018. We chose to stay at the Edgewater because of the cheap price (in comparison to other resorts on the island) and because breakfast was included. Overall, we were really happy with the Edgewater and would stay again. The staff were absolutely lovely (especially the staff at Mal's bar - we loved Elanoa, she was so lovely) and we really enjoyed the different choices at breakfast (breads, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, juices, coffee/tea). This resort would be ideal for people travelling with young children, as the pool area was mainly for kids. My partner and I did not spend the day periods at the Edgewater, and instead ventured to other resorts (the Rarotongan, Nautilus) to utilise their pools throughout the day. The food at the restaurant was average, but the drinks were delicious and rather cheap ($6.50 for spirit mixes, $10 cocktails at happy hour, $7 beers - NZD). The snorkelling directly outside the resort was fabulous, and we both thought it was better than Muri for snorkelling. We stayed in the Garden Suite and our room was pretty outdated (old decor, chips on the wall, could hear the people in the room next door etc.), but the air conditioning was great and we enjoyed our deck area. We had to walk up an old flight of stairs to get to our room. If you require easy-access, I would recommend a ground floor room as there are no lifts. The internet was quite expensive from the resort ($50 for 1GB I believe), but we both purchased BlueSky sim cards at the airport that were loaded with 3GB of data for $50 - this was brilliant and lasted out entire stay (with usual usage). We loved the resort's island night, and would recommend this to all. It was fascinating learning about the Cook Island culture, and the music and dancing was great. The food was great too. We loved the activities that the resort had, and attended the fish feeding (so cool) and the crab race (hilarious).
